why didn't they just send the basestar AND galactica? the basestar cuda gone first as a decoy to make a hole in the colonies defences then Galactica could have jumped into support.
thanks for this. BSG went from being the cheesy-but-fun saturday evening show of my childhood, to the stunning masterpiece it became decades later. Surely the greatest sci-fi series produced to date.
awesome vid from an epic series! Cant wait for the new series to start called Battlestar Galactica, Blood and Chrome! Its about Bill Adama in his early years as a rookie and when he first gets onboard the Galactica.
With all of the religious talk going on...I just have to say... We are all human beings... Existing and struggling... Each in her or his own way... One must pause and think for a moment... All of this religious rhetoric? It has been done before... and will be done again... sadly... Yet, we are all still human and yet still struggling... each and every day... To find out... What that means... To be human... Killing each other... Yet, loving each other... Someday... We will see...
That old bird sure could take a beating and still delivers her crew to destination :D. I like the series although I could never buy into all the spiritual crap.
What's kind of funny is that this huge 3-part finish to the series was the first time I watched BSG. So when I found it, I thought it was some kind of movie I never heard because of the awesome gfx. But now that I now it was part of this epic sci-fi series, it just feels odd thinking about it.
The music is so deep that it also makes you want to cry, especially when the ship's being torn apart by the stress of hyperspace. The most moving part had to be when Galactica and the fleet were being sent into the sun with the big musical swell; a perfect and particular moving send-off to humanity's saviour.
it would have been sweet if they had left the fleet to circle earth forever or crashed it on the moon so that we could discover our origins in the show when we found the remains of them.
Ok so no offense to those who like this show but who in their right mind would jump into what I'm guessing was hyperspace while stuck in another ship!?
@JohnCarpenterFan2701 u have to watch the show to understand it all. btw, they do use FTL drives, but i don't think it's hyperspace, atleast that's what i've been told.
@starflame34 Hyperspace and FTL are different. FTL is faster than light but hyperspace is like going into subspace or something like that. I also plan on watching the whole series on Netflix.
@JohnCarpenterFan2701 in theory when you enter a warp you are temporarily separated from the known universe into subspace, subspace is like a blank part of existence which seperated from our own, you can see everything in this plane of existence through subspace but you cant touch or feel or smell or hear it, so if you jump into a planet theirs a chance you'll get buried inside a mountain, but if you keep continuing you phase right though the planet..
@JohnCarpenterFan2701 as far as i could always tell in the show, the type of FTL they were using was more of a teleport. More like they were blinking out of reality in one spot and popping into another spot, maybe a type of wormhole or something. I'm not sure. But far as I could tell they never traveled in a line of any sort in FTL. It was instantaneous or near so.
It's literally about EVERYTHING. Who we are, who we were, and who we can be. Existence, rebirth, fate, great cycles of the universe. Possible answers to the most vital questions of the human mind and soul. The most intelligent sci-fi series i've ever seen. From the first minute to the last, truely unique filmmaking.
@ostobatuk Well the answer you put seems a bit creepy to me nut now that I'm in the second season I love the show, BUT Stargate Universe is the best show ever and I'm pissed it's being canceled just because people got mad when it was moved from Friday to Tuesday the to Monday, who cares what day it's on get a damn DVR and record and watch it on Friday.

I KNOW it's just a TV show...I KNOW it's just a TV show... I KNOW it's just a TV show but FRAK! Watching this final video tribute to Battlestar Galactica brought tears to my eyes.. the musical score by Bear Mc Cready as the fleet raced into the sun on autopilot made me stand up SALUTE the Battlestar Galactica's last journey..Thank you for a moving experience.
If there was any way for the battlestar galactica to be made and work than i would support them any way any how possible to make it. I would even help build the ship and pay for the stuff needed.
@DeserteagleS71 Dam how much money you have to finance a ship that hasn't even bin built yet. xD
First all the scetches on the computer. designing the components which we dont have(jumpdrive). then planning/training the resources, engineers and staff needed, and sending it/them up to space. and assembling the frigging big gaint there. you looking at a few octillion euro's hahaha
@DeserteagleS71 Do you feel a need? Is there something in your life that... Is missing? I think what BSG represents is the basic instinct of all of us to help...nurture...fight...struggle...win...but at what cost... and then... go on? We will always go on... Unless we all...die... I think the new BSG represents that and challenges us to...think... Think... THINK... So that we may all... Move on to a better place? Or not... That is the choice that everyone must make... Peace... :)
@DeserteagleS71 It starts with graduating more MANY MANY more engineers and scientists and MUCH MUCH less lawyers, marketers, and social workers from college...
You be wasting money. There is no reason at all build a ship that large and if you did what would you do with it? FTL drives do not exist so you be stuck in a earth orbit. What you really should be supporting is a man voyager to mars. Watching a man walk on mars now that would be epic.
BattlestarGalactica was and is awesome There MUST be a sequel series one day. Far too many shows disappear. I love shows like these that have stories. Stargate Universe is another good show that lacks support, it's theme is similar to BattlestarGalactica in that the crew of the Destiny Ascension are trying to find a way home; faced by massive threat. You can't fault the writers of SG-U for trying to utilize the awesome spirit of BSG.
@jhitching was SGU being done by or with support from the people that made this BSG? I thought I remember reading something about it or saw it in something when the show was announced.
Im a huge fan of star trek, but this looks super cool. I now know what show I want to watch... I've not seen the show so I have no idea what this means but for the tributes sake, So Say We All.
@NightFeaR96 i was in the same boat as you a couple months ago. i loved star trek and came across a video on youtube about battlestar pegasus and went and watch battlestar galactica from the start. i could not stop watching it. you will love it trust me, best show i have ever seen.
"She's broke her back... She'll never jump again."
Seeing Galactica shuddering and buckling upon FTL-exit made me incredibly sad. I know it might sound cheesy, but over the series, it became to me more than a simple ship - it evolved into a living, breathing being, struggling for survival and fighting to protect humanity.
Her last sacrifice was the greatest, but it cost her everything.
May you forever glide amongst the light of endless stars, Galactica. We won't forget you. So say we all.
@TheROFLcopter66 They're all from the BSG soundtrack. The part with the pipes is Admiral and Commander. You can find pretty much the whole soundtrack on Youtube.
I know why you mean I started crying 2! I think it'd be cool if theyade like a sequal tv series about what happened after they move onto earth! The prequals (caprica, out now. And Bloodand Chrome, comming) are cool 2 but I wanna see war happens next I mean I know how it ended now o want to c after that!
Galatica: the toughest ship in Sci-fi history. She survived what, 2 wars, a suborbital drop, Gods knows how many nuclear and conventional missile hits, and still holds together, even after having her spine broken, and after being built with substandard parts? The ship's very existence is a CMOA. So Say We All.
@soerenxena The one thing holding it back is the title, like Edward James Olmos and Jamie Bamber have said. I've tried to get people into the show and they're often incredulous when I tell them it's one of the greatest television shows of all time.
The shame is that so many people will refuse to give it a chance because they think it's going to be cheesy, and SyFy doesn't help by putting out garbage like Mega Piranha.
I just finished watching the whole series Battlestar Galactica again. I watch this series once a year as a tradition. And will until something better comes along. But I seriously doubt it. Nothing has yet (in my opinion) matched this series yet. It's literally in a class of its own.
On a short view it might resemble it, but the cylon baseship is way more symmetrical. A top part with 3 poles and a lower part which has the same shape. And they can rotate.
The Pegasus was the best ship in the fleet. The Pegasus took out 3 baseships whilst Saving Everyone elses lives. The thing i wish RDM did was make a Battlestar Pegasus Series and entire season or two properly explaining the Battlestar Pegasus, When she was built , its proper purpose, what she did Before the war , not just a movie thrown together explaining somones Career. I WANT MORE PEGASUS. i truly hate how BSG became a Phycological series, story wise prefer the original more!.
@stargate302 However Pegasus was destroyed while Galactica went all the way through providing something all those people aboard her needed - a home :)
@dealmaker007 ah kay.. didnt bother to watch the whole since it seemed they just shows things that have happend.. but if this is in then i'll go watch it right now :D
In the finale, Galen (the Chief) talks about how he has found an island in the north to live the remainder of his days. I am thinking that island is present day England and Scotland. I base that on the fact that his name 'Galen' is quite similar to the Gaelic people who settled there...maybe the ancestors of the Chief!!! Any thoughts?
@Gracie0935 Thanks for your reply..but correct me if I am wrong. But Colonel Tigh impregnated Number 6 ??? Both were Cylons. Also Human and Cylon (Helo and Athena) made a child......So maybe their is some hope for the Chief! I hope so cause he and Tigh were always my favorites!
Yes, #6 was pregnant by Tigh, but she miscarried. Remember #6 said the 'human' Cylons had tried biological reproduction many, many times; only took that once and wasn't successful. Hera was unique, probably due to a DNA mutation from either Helo or Athena or both which is why #1 was so desperate to study her.
I agree. Galen and Saul were terrific characters - nine level CPO and XO and very human.
this is science fiction like it never was made before, i enjoyed, i liked, i felt, i cried and i will thank the actors and makers for this event, in one word awesome or wow
this was a great show. i never watched the original one but i know it was a star wars knock off. the reimagined one goes way beyond entertainment its something people can relate to right now thats what made it great. i cant stand the people who get offended because its better than the original
This is one of the best videos ever- the music is really fitting.
But what's the name of the first song? I know the second is a variation on a good lighter, possibly admiral and commander, but the first one I haven't a clue and I really enjoy it :-)
@ice0162 dude go buy the dvds (or blu-ray if you're rich) they aren't that expensive anymore and are totally worth it. i think you can buy a single set of all series
You know what? I could point out the flaws: its too bright, the resolution is too high, and it is slowed down to much; all of which makes the CGI look like, well, CGI. However, the sentiment! The use of 'Admiral and Commander'. The 'A Good Lighter' motif, which is always used to convey the theme of family, now used to show the foundations of any family: the home. In this case, a caravan of the heavens, on one last journey to a new home. the old girl, rest in peace. So say we all!
@BensoftMedia no lol, that wasn't the end of the series. i think that was the end of season 3. they made 2 more seasons :D. i envy you, you can now go watch it all for the first time
@0ngus Turns out it was half way through Season 4, I downloaded the 10 episodes that didnt come with my Box set. Amazing. Im so glad they found Earth, sort of disappointed it wasn't the Modern Earth.
This was easily the WORST reboot of a series. Unless you suffer from a mood disorder, like all of the characters in this show. I'm sure it was popular in europe.
@Adobe150: Mood disorders? These people handle themselves pretty well considering their entire civilization just got pulled out from under them on top of being constantly pursued by their attackers.
Seen some demo of the galatica animated series is more of star war crap then moore version which is much more better. Now a newer version of galatica ,stop repeating the 70's campy style story telling.Get Real!
Truely the best tv show ever made. I don't know if any tv show can surpass the standard that BSG has created. Makes me kinda sad knowing that this show has ended and that nothing will likely ever be better or as good as this show. The only possible way is perhaps Ron Moore surpassing himself in the future.
what i dont get is the vipers are always outnumbered like 10 to 1, yet they manage to stay alive for what must have been an hour atleast. and then they say they only lost 4 vipers? bullshit.
I don't know if the figure was only 4 viper losses. Never heard that. But I do know that most of their engagements were defensive and had the support of Galactica's cannons, which probably evened out the numerical odds a little bit.
why didn't they just send the basestar AND galactica? the basestar cuda gone first as a decoy to make a hole in the colonies defences then Galactica could have jumped into support.

On a short view it might resemble it, but the cylon baseship is way more symmetrical. A top part with 3 poles and a lower part which has the same shape. And they can rotate.

That Being said. It is still my Favorite Sci-fi, Equall to Stargate sg1 (the series that got me in to the Sci-fy Genre)
stargate302 11 months ago
The Pegasus was the best ship in the fleet. The Pegasus took out 3 baseships whilst Saving Everyone elses lives. The thing i wish RDM did was make a Battlestar Pegasus Series and entire season or two properly explaining the Battlestar Pegasus, When she was built , its proper purpose, what she did Before the war , not just a movie thrown together explaining somones Career. I WANT MORE PEGASUS. i truly hate how BSG became a Phycological series, story wise prefer the original more!.
stargate302 11 months ago
@stargate302 However Pegasus was destroyed while Galactica went all the way through providing something all those people aboard her needed - a home :)

Ramming the bow of the ship thru the hull of the Colony and dispatching boarders reminds me a little of the Daedelus Attack from Macross.

@GameRock123 All hell breaks loose in the series finale. But you will have Closure lol.
dealmaker007 11 months ago
In the finale, Galen (the Chief) talks about how he has found an island in the north to live the remainder of his days. I am thinking that island is present day England and Scotland. I base that on the fact that his name 'Galen' is quite similar to the Gaelic people who settled there...maybe the ancestors of the Chief!!! Any thoughts?
08030309961 11 months ago
@08030309961
Being Cylon he couldn't have descendents, but I can well imagine he became one of their legendary demi-gods and they took his name in tribute.
Gracie0935 11 months ago
@Gracie0935 Thanks for your reply..but correct me if I am wrong. But Colonel Tigh impregnated Number 6 ??? Both were Cylons. Also Human and Cylon (Helo and Athena) made a child......So maybe their is some hope for the Chief! I hope so cause he and Tigh were always my favorites!
08030309961 11 months ago
@08030309961
I agree. Galen and Saul were terrific characters - nine level CPO and XO and very human.

this was a great show. i never watched the original one but i know it was a star wars knock off. the reimagined one goes way beyond entertainment its something people can relate to right now thats what made it great. i cant stand the people who get offended because its better than the original

This is one of the best videos ever- the music is really fitting.
But what's the name of the first song? I know the second is a variation on a good lighter, possibly admiral and commander, but the first one I haven't a clue and I really enjoy it :-)

cmc10101 1 year ago
You know what? I could point out the flaws: its too bright, the resolution is too high, and it is slowed down to much; all of which makes the CGI look like, well, CGI. However, the sentiment! The use of 'Admiral and Commander'. The 'A Good Lighter' motif, which is always used to convey the theme of family, now used to show the foundations of any family: the home. In this case, a caravan of the heavens, on one last journey to a new home. the old girl, rest in peace. So say we all!

This was easily the WORST reboot of a series. Unless you suffer from a mood disorder, like all of the characters in this show. I'm sure it was popular in europe.
Adobe150 1 year ago
@Adobe150: Mood disorders? These people handle themselves pretty well considering their entire civilization just got pulled out from under them on top of being constantly pursued by their attackers.

Truely the best tv show ever made. I don't know if any tv show can surpass the standard that BSG has created. Makes me kinda sad knowing that this show has ended and that nothing will likely ever be better or as good as this show. The only possible way is perhaps Ron Moore surpassing himself in the future.

jkdnoway9339 1 year ago
At first I was bored at it. But as I watch the episodes, the story gets better and better. Love it.
numey 1 year ago
That was incredible CG work. Something I have to say, this would not have been
if not for the original, which followed the release of Star Wars Episode IV in 1977.
for a TV show in 1978 the orig. BSG was GREAT! I lost interest in this show
too much drama and cliff hanging.imo should have been an original of its own and not BSG
Original story was tribes of humans, spread across the galaxy and galactica is fighting/finding its way to find Earth.
queenhunter2009 1 year ago
what i dont get is the vipers are always outnumbered like 10 to 1, yet they manage to stay alive for what must have been an hour atleast. and then they say they only lost 4 vipers? bullshit.
nvk1001 1 year ago
@nvk1001
I don't know if the figure was only 4 viper losses. Never heard that. But I do know that most of their engagements were defensive and had the support of Galactica's cannons, which probably evened out the numerical odds a little bit.
