  • Nice cameras, shame the horses dressage isnt as nice!

  • I have the 7 D, it is sooper, the Mark 1 is better becose of full senzor. better DOF, better low light conditions etc. But 7 D is the choice if you dont have the money for mark 1

  • @floryka

The 1D mark iv is not full sensor, IDS lines are. At any rate the 1D series simply have a much better and professional specification and build quality and that is why it is much more expensive than the 7D. Besides it has about 2 stops better sensitivity than the 7D, so there you go.

  • @luirot9

you are right! it is not full frame, and the build quality is better. The 1D Mark IV is professional camera! I sad "the 7 D is the choise is you don't have the money for Mark 1 :)

  • @floryka

No biggie I know what you meant, the 1D and 1DS line belong to the seasoned professionals. However the 7D is a phenomenal camera and its new autofocus and metering system are superb. Very few people can afford to buy a $4,500 dollar body camera alone just for amateur purposes.

  • there really was no difference that i could recognize... as SuperTrullala said.. a picture wouldn't be bad.

  • for moving action in daytime, i really like the 7d more than the 5d or the new 1d... the greater DOF from the APS-C size sensor in the 7d seems to make small YouTube videos look sharper than 5d or 1d with their larger sensors and shorter DOF... but for night shooting I am partial to the "Magic" of the 5d... check out the music video I shot on the 5d on my page at night, and you'll see what I mean... I'm considering switching to the 1d but don't know if i will like the APS-H size sensor...

  • no need to compare this and that newest machine. use your brain as a creative machine and show what you can do with the oldest one. its the same, what you need is the right light in the right place. be creative, 16mm was vintage, DV still good... FullHD yes..of course.... 7d or mark4..... both ( if you can buy....) hahaha LOL. Salute.....

  • I was very impressed with the 7D when it came out. I'm actually going to switch over to Canon just for that camera. 7D is one reason...and the other is Canon's lenses are cheaper.

The 7D is the closest thing to having a full frame camera...without the full frame.

  • 7D rules!!!

  • Will the Mark IV still have the dreaded "jello" effect like all the others? thanks.

  • you guys are comparing canon and nikon.LoL

you guys have lots of free time eh?

now compare Windows with mac. whos shit is better

  • Like a good o'l fashion country style arse whoopin Canon beats anything Nikon has to offer. Go Canon Go!!!!!

  • take a closer look at the mark IV for real comparison. while the d3s will be awesome. At least for my photographic needs, I'd rather keep the 1.3x crop factor AND still have full resolution. "technically," with that in mind, the Mark IV is faster. You get more than double the useful features than the D3s and at $200.00 cheaper. As far as ISO output, the mark IV wins hands down. Even at 16.1 MP, the sensor has deeper wells for better light gathering than even the d3s at 12.1 MP.

  • u guys are arguing about nikon and canon,HAHAHAHA

the video is a 1d vs 7d video comparison

man, people have tooo much time on their hands! :)

  • how is it faster the canon shoots 10 the nikon shoots 9 ? yes the full frame is nice although the camera is for sport's so why not use the 1.3x plus canon has better pro glass beacuse when you buy canon you dont have to send the lens in to get rings fixed like with nikons 17-55 and 24-70

  • The nikon shoots 11fps in crop mode as well...and canon is crop mode by default. In nikon you have the OPTION of keeping it 9fps at full frame, doing 1.2x, or 1.5 x. Where as with canon you are stuck at 1.3x.

Nikons 24-70 and 70-200 are far above canons in sharpness and AF speed, that's agreed upon everywhere...even canon users agree to that, which is why they are constatnly asking for an upgrade of canons 24-70 and 70-200

  • @transferases 1.2x, or 1.5 x..

    its also reduce the mp.

    just crop in post processing

    just the same.

    eye is the best lens!

    nothing can beat that.

    either canon or nikon.

  • The video is the only thing the canon's can do better than nikon. Other then that, the new nikon D3s is at least 2 stops better than the 1dmk iv in high iso noise performance, it's faster, full frame, built tougher, and has better controls. Canon cannot compete. Though I must admit, the video in canon is a nice BONUS feature. But still, for true photographers nikon is the way to go.

  • i haven't see D3s vs 1D mk II, but I've seen D300s vs 7D test. In high ISO D300s is several stops behind. :) Don't think D3s is any better. High quality video is a HUGE benefit in many cases. You don't realize it till you get it. Ad th best thing about it is it's FREE :)

  • 7D is better than D300s in my opinion

but in terms of ull frame cameras...nikon wins by quite some margine. VIdeo is not a benefit when you only take photos.

  • you cannot take only photos when you have that good video. :) unless you are a very rare type of photographer. check 7d videos here. you cannot get the same quality even with (semi)pro video cameras which cost several times more. they have better controls and other features, but not the video quality.

  • 2 stops better? I really think not.

  • One picture can say more than the whole vid above

    I don`t need a vid-mode

  • I can't agree more than that with you ;)

But to understand a picture or a painting one need a brain ;))) and this becomes more and more difficult to find nower days. Anyway for the creative mind the video mode is a good feature to have. One can say a lot with a nice video and nice screenplay. I am sure you know what I mean ;)

  • @SuperTrullala Yea i only like some of the enhancements, i would rather have the same camera without the vid... but what can we do...

  • @SuperTrullala says the guy who can't afford a dslr that can do video

  • @SuperTrullala NO similar lighting direction, no sim. zoom focal lenght adjustement... and youtube "image quality" cannot let, to be honest, see any substantial difference between'em... Is needed a more extensive report and moreover whith softer lighting conditions (cloudy day or even at night in a city) and using shorter prime lenses too, well is my personal opinion.

I use the 5d2 because I like FF in orther to kill the background then... everyone can have their own needs. : )

  • I kept going back and forth from one camera to the other at 00.25 and could not see a difference. I'm trying to understand the the justification for the 1D MK IV, as apposed to the much less expensive 7D. The video seems the be about the same quality, and the MK IV only gets an extra 2 fps stills.

  • Hm I think it is normal because of the bright light. I'll make some low light comparison and will publish it next week ;)

  • nice vid

  • Whoa! mark iv does get moving objects, subjects in the cross af pts, when the horse gallops you can see x-sharpness from nose to tail while in movement

  • it looks to me 7d is better in motion. don't know, probably just a different exposure time.

  • I think I've used higher ISO and shutter settings ;)

  • anyway both are good, much better than camcorders. :)

  • Are them both recorded a 1080p 24fps? or what did you use?

  • 30p

  • Great Video, wish to know what f number is used here. I am really impressed at how both cameras focuses so well, yet I think a small aperture is used here. The real test to the AF system of these cameras would be @ 100mm - 800 mm f1.4 to 2.8, and the subject is moving away from the camera . Appreciated effort. Regards

  • f 5,6 and manual focus ;)

    with follow focus attached

I am very impressed from 7D, being a lower class camera it delivers exellent video, but I found difference in low light where 5D mark II is better than these both

  • 5D MKII better than the 1D MKIV in low light? is this what you mean?

  • yeap ;)

    This is my personal conclusion.

  • Probably because the 5D Mark II is full frame
