@12345JJBB No doubt is neither punk nor ska. A really great ska influenced ska band is Operation Ivy. Listen to Healthy Body Sick Mind, Badtown, and Unity. Better than any No Doubt or Sublime song
aww.. it's a good cover, but I was a lil disappointed to be honest. I always thought a good ska band should cover this song, but I always envisioned about twice as fast as the original, and a much more clever bass line, maybe a ska-like walk or something. Still, this isn't bad at all. Good post!
A genre is whatever you want it to be, don't yell at someone or call them a fag if they think it needs brass to be ska, and don't yell at those people if you think it doesn't!
Music is an art, everyone has there own style, besides, if I was a band, I'd like a little criticism, theres always place for improvement, though they didn't do it in the nicest way (they do kinda deserve to be flamed for that) Don't be throwing around fag and stuff just because of their opinion...thats just a dick move...
This song shows very LITTLE resemblence to being a ska/punk. There is definitelty the punk in there, but seriously, you need brass instruments of ANY kind or at LEAST some distinctive bass. Go listen to some Reel Big Fish, Street Light Manifesto, or even some Bob Marley reggae. Let me ask you something where do you hear grunting/roaring chorus in the back unless its some metal like..oh...slipknot, pantera, or metallica. Come on dude, get YOUR music straight. Second, DONT call me a fag.
You DON'T need brass dipshit, that's not even what gives the genre it's distinct flavor if you knew anything about it you'd know it's all about the upbeat strokes.
I said this is more punk than ska, it's generally more punk than anything, hardly metal. Just because the singer is a dumbass rumble voiced tard doesn't mean it's metal.
also I've been jamming to ska since I was old enough to know what music is.
you don't NEED horns for something to be ska, horns are just usually added. Ska is based on how the main guitar chords are played, NOT if there are horns.
cool at the beginning, but the chorus is a bit too much...IDK what, but it's just too much. Sorry, other than that, great job!

Up tempo Ska without horns is more commonly reffered to as Ska-Punk or Skacore, which is what is used to describe Op Ivy and The Suicide Machines

A lot of Sublime's music doesn't have brass, and they're considered to be the biggest and best ska punk band of all time.
No Doubt, another huge ska punk band, not all of there music has brass.
There , debate ended.

This one does sound pretty ska though. Cept for the chorus.

Where's the brass instruments? How do you expect to call this Ska? If anything it's a Punk/Metal Cover.
kamikazeFIST 2 years ago
There just starting out, give em some slack, they cant have every thing right at the beggining
stude444 2 years ago
you dont need brass to necessarily make it ska, they play an upbeat ska thing during the verses, this definitly isnt metal

Proof of your faggotry, you don't need horns to be ska. Though this is more punk style than ska anyway
