One of the first things burns references in the tirade is FB alfred anderson's shoe coming off. That occurred in the giant game in a goal to go situation from inside the 10 yard line when anderson pushed off and ran right out of his turf cleat spoiling a chance to finally put the ball in the end zone which was the bane of the 1989 vikings and their OC.

If there's one guy in Vikings history who I think should write a memoir it's Jerry Burns. He's been approached about doing that; apparently he just doesn't want to do it. Maybe he signed a non-disclosure agreement in exchange for a bigger pension. Maybe he's pissed at Bud for getting passed over the head coaching job after '85. Who knows.

Although Burns may not be the worlds greatest speaker.The reason many find this press conference odd is mainly bacause of his honesty. He IS man eneugh name names,cite specific instances, the offsides, the poorly thrown ball. He's right, how's that the coaches fault. His loyalty to Shnelker is typical of a Bud Grant led team.

Historically, these problems have dogged the Vikings. He has'nt said a thing here I haven't said after watching them in the Superbowls ( maybe I've been worse)
