Did I heard you correctly about quiting your day job if that works ??? What are you planning to grow there then ??? Wait.... don't tell me... I think I know !!!
well you have a good idea but you may want to block the water from the light it may help with keeping the water clear .. or you can leave it in the light and let crap grow and let the fish eat that algae that grows ..
Ok just a few things, one you're gonna want to get your lights closer when the seeds sprout otherwise they will "Strech" (focus on growing up and develop a unhealthy steem). Two, light is really bad for roots, if you plan on making this in door system bigger you need to make sure the roots are never exposed to light otherwise they will die. looks like your having fun though :)
you say 600W but with CFL your concern is ACTUAL wattage. Ignore the comparison charts. you are actually growing under 138W. you also might want to figure out a way to make your lights adjustable those bulbs don't run very hot, and you will get MUCH better and much healthier plants with the lights about 2-3 inches above your plants. with the lights as far away as they are your plants are going to want to stretch towards the light, and develop very weak main stems, and possibly fall over and die.
Yeah I bought 24 total and put four into that tub. I thought the would die but the plants filtered it out. I didn't lose one and they're all still alive and kicking in my bigger setup outside in the 55 gallon barrel.
