wow I have been looking for this song every where this is my favorite freestyle song ever and now I am going to burn it again like it is back in style!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
These old school songs bring back memories for most of us in our early-mid 30's. I wish I could get them all on CD or on my damn ipod. Used to rock the club music in SW Detroit all through high school.
This is MKG.. Why peeps are hating?? This is a true classic.. About the production being thin, well I had no budget to record it in a professional studio but still it was a big hit in 1988 and for a home production, it still made it and is q FREESTYLE CLASSIC...Pete Da Heat, why u calling me a JERK?? I never bad month you so please respect bro... We grew up together...
lol, u a funny dick rider boriqua!!! lmao! I get paid good money to spin conga line tracks while you dj for your mom and lil sister! get off a nigga dick already and go out and steal some hub cabs. Macho Boriqua Homo!!! Tell us how u got that name from your boyfriend in prison! lol, He dedicated "Tears Shed" to you when they let you out of Rikers and he had to move on to the next golden boys culito!!! LMFAO!!!! Pendejo.....
@djpetedaheat I must've struck a nerve DJ Petey boy. I would much rather spin for my mom and sis than playing ure corny tracks for the elderly home. Don't get me started with names my man...Pete da heat? You seem to know a lot about dick riding at rikers. Were u providing heat from your culo to Bubba at rikers? Get off my dick and go buy some real music dude...that conga music got u dizzy bro!
First and 4most you dick!!! I worked with the Jerk who produced this shitty track! The real freestyle artist of that day and age recorded giant hits with bigger budgets out of real recording studio's with real vocal booths and not a hallway closet! lol. You bastards were just not gifted with 2 fully functional ears. ROTFL. As far as getting burned by some cheap whore unlike your sorry ass, I would never dedicate a trash freestyle song to any woman that I care about. I
@djpetedaheat you are a big wedding dj what do you know bout music?...that shit you playing for the old folks is mad wack bro. I had a ball watching your videos dude...LMPRAO ...a conga line..? Really?

@djpetedaheat I agree the production sounds bad, and amateur, but it's the concept, the song, arrangement, that's what I like.
I asked MKG what he was working with, he said it was recorded on a 4 track Akai tape recorder. I give him props for just doing it with whatever he had available.
If you got 4 tracks to work with, you can't layer sounds, and make huge arrangements, and and crazy effects, so that explains the production.

@djpetedaheat You know...if I were to get technical like you are, I would say yes horrible vocals & off key, & the recording was second rate. BUT, it's about the "FEELING" and what was goin' on at the time! And I could say that this shit right here used to rock in the underground clubs...who cares if it wasn't perfect. It was all about the vibe...
If you listen to some of the classic Hip Hop tracks, they're not perfect. But it's the feeling & groove it produces. So you're not much of a musician
heard this song about 20 yrs ago with my girlfriend , used to cruise to it in San Jo Califas. now married and two kids later and a dog and house, still brings back great memories.with the Grace of God thanks.
this is ma song....its all me growing up...i love u denise....every time i listen 2 this song its like its verry important to me..thank u denise ur the best
This is one of my all time favorites, gives me chills. Reminds me of back in the day, me and my boyz cruzzin South Philly in his tricked out lowered S10 pickup truck with Bazooka bass tubes behind the seat! Could hear that truck a mile away! Nothing but Freestyle! Over 15 years later and my iphone has nothing but Freestyle on it. Long live. Peace.
This song has so much freestyle SOUL-I can just visualize this playing on a hot summer nite back in the day and people noddin to the beat...............

I can not believe someone reacted negatively to your comment. On another note, I did not realize Poland listened to tears shed. Too cool. Brotherly love from a ski in the US.
Great song, never saw the vocalist for this song. Anyone know her? does she have FB or Myspace. Just want to send my love. I think I listened to this song more then any other song.
Good stuff.....I will be playing alot of this tonight live on ustream.....come check out Friday night Freestyle with DJ Salt-T-Dogg..9pm Friday nights.
I can't post the link so just go to ustream and search for DJ Salt-T-Dogg!!!!
My Mom used to listen to this all the time when I was little and she still does. So even though I was born in the 90's the 80's was always the greatest of era's. <3
This type of music was in the category of a type of dance music that was in style in the 80s decade labeled electro funk which included original hiphop. Which is why many breakdancers from the early part of the 80s decade catered to the freestyle movement as they matured and breakdancing and hiphop died out toward the end of the 80s decade. Which is why rap music became more popular with kids entering puberty in the 90s because they were not dancers from 80s. So rap today is not really hiphop
Scott Blackwell rocked the house back in those days. His style was so refined and flawless and to his credit he was an award winning dj. Little louie was good in his own right but Scott had no comparison. I remember he mixed this song with Set it off with the silent morning acapella above it!!man, the crowd went nuts...I can remember it as if it was yesterday, my good old days in Queens, thats right Queens , NY!!!!
@dsm492 Scott Blackwell was a DJ like no other! Oh my, Set It Off with Tear Shed, and Silent Morning Acapella in the background! I'm imagining the mix, DSM492!
No one remembers La'mour East in Queens blvd, Paleds also in Queens Blvd.? It was in la'mour east that I had the oportunity to meet the greatest dj I've ever heard in my life: SCOTT BLACKWELL originally from a club called 4d in Manhattan. He was a white boy from Dallas but he was an innovator and never an imitator. He did the Hot 103saturday night dance party back in the 80's and damm it this cat used to play 3 turntables @the same time, it was so amazing to see him cue, play the acapellas..
Yes I remember L'amours because if you recall a Mcdonalds a few blocks away is where my house was from 82- 85 until I moved to Miami. I did go to L'amours many times from 88-89 and was impressed to see all the underground music fans from the Bronx and Manhattan in my old neighborhood. I did not go inside Paleds but that was more of spot for the new wave crowd from Howard Beach.
yup i miss san jo havent been over there in years now i cruise in ept bumpin an thumpin freestyle hi n r g everywhewre i go i use 2 live in fl and i cranked it even more much love 2 all who represent freestyle keep it alive
HEARTHROBS! NYC! The good old days! Clubs just aren't the same! Different vibe!
I remember in HEARTHROBS, the bouncers used to carry 2X4s, just in case anyhing got outta hand. All the TV, use to play cartoon pornos. Please someone take me back! Just one of many great NYC clubs! Thanks for letting me vent!
the TUNNEL, the UNDERGROUND, STUDIO 54 with Little Louie Vega, the PALLADIUM, the DEVIL's NEST and LaMIRAGE in the BRONX, the REDZONE, SOUND FACTORY, can't forget LIMELIGHT, tooooo techno, but still good. WOW! that was about 20 yrs ago!
wHAT CAN I SAY, THOSE LONE LOST FREESYLE SONGS THAT VERY MANY ARENT AWARE OF!!! fELT GOOD THEN 2 HEAR THEM, FEELS EVEN BETTER 2 HEAR IT NOW!!!! freestyle MUSIC 4 EVER!!!!!!!!!!1
Yup thats on the real for all you SAN JO crusiers you know that these were the jams to be bumping in whatever your ride would have been. THOSE WERE THE DAYZZZZZZZZ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ShIiIiIiIt!!!!!!! hEy ThAtS AlL gOoD fReStYlEnFuLlBlAsT!! rEmInDs Me oF tHoSe oLd sCoOl DAyZ In sAnJo !!!! hEy mUCH LUV TO ALL THOSE WHO SHARE THE SAME LOVE SAHAAAAAAAOUUU!!!!
when i hear this its SO clear that latin freestyle and old school hiphop were the same. just instead of rapping they were singing. but this beat is totally b-boyz breakin beats. you do popping and windmills to this stuff. i guess the same latinos made both. excellent stuff.
actually freestyle borrowed from the early hip hop breaks that afrika bambatta and soul sonic force did..but i love how the freestyle producers flipped it and made it fresh and new
Brilliant!!THIS IS THE SH-T!!!Makes me feel Like a Queens Club Kid again...ah' the good old days...HooKie Partys, hand ball@ da'Park,Cruising in y'r pop's whip-pumping da system think-n you where the man!!!!
if someone makes a totally brand new freestyle song today, but keeps the original 80s sound intact, do you think it would be accepted? just wondering ;)
I think it would since we're in the 80's chic period...but it's dying slowly from what I'm observing. The 80's sound of freestyle to me was commercial than underground.
the only way you think that is because alot of samples sounded thesame back then, but not at all commercial, these artist never really got mainstream with this style such as spanish fly, then they switched up to rap and got into the game a lil more lol
Commercial in sound, not by exposure. Same samples, etc., Honestly the industry is really running out of ideas, instead of going into the studio and making it happen, they sample and everything sounds like a remix.
Thanks for uploading and letting people know theyre names, i luv this song. i rember i would go crazy over the internent trying to fing it untill i did so i know how people feel after looking for this song or other and then finally finding out who sings it , THANKS
I went through the same s--t trying to find THIS version on Limewire, and I always come up with the crappy version. I love this version, brings back memories of Studio 54 & Roseland back in '88!
OMG i have been looking for this song...jejje thank god i found it i had forgotten who sang this song....takes me back in time in Queens New york boyee do i miss new york , but im comming home finally, jejej
wow I have been looking for this song every where this is my favorite freestyle song ever and now I am going to burn it again like it is back in style!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My Mom used to listen to this all the time when I was little and she still does. So even though I was born in the 90's the 80's was always the greatest of era's. <3
TwilightL0v0rr92 2 years ago 19

I remember he mixed this song with Set it off with the silent morning acapella above it!!man, the crowd went nuts...I can remember it as if it was yesterday, my good old days in Queens, thats right Queens , NY!!!!
dsm492 2 years ago
@dsm492 Scott Blackwell was a DJ like no other! Oh my, Set It Off with Tear Shed, and Silent Morning Acapella in the background! I'm imagining the mix, DSM492!
Peace!

I did not go inside Paleds but that was more of spot for the new wave crowd from Howard Beach.

when i hear this its SO clear that latin freestyle and old school hiphop were the same. just instead of rapping they were singing. but this beat is totally b-boyz breakin beats. you do popping and windmills to this stuff. i guess the same latinos made both. excellent stuff.
haikousei 3 years ago 2
actually freestyle borrowed from the early hip hop breaks that afrika bambatta and soul sonic force did..but i love how the freestyle producers flipped it and made it fresh and new

if someone makes a totally brand new freestyle song today, but keeps the original 80s sound intact, do you think it would be accepted? just wondering ;)
haikousei 3 years ago
I think it would since we're in the 80's chic period...but it's dying slowly from what I'm observing. The 80's sound of freestyle to me was commercial than underground.
romarius2005 3 years ago
the only way you think that is because alot of samples sounded thesame back then, but not at all commercial, these artist never really got mainstream with this style such as spanish fly, then they switched up to rap and got into the game a lil more lol
Cr33py 2 years ago
Commercial in sound, not by exposure. Same samples, etc., Honestly the industry is really running out of ideas, instead of going into the studio and making it happen, they sample and everything sounds like a remix.
romarius2005 2 years ago
yup true that lots of chopped and screwed shit lmao its wack
