@snailinsustries Please, which is the volume pot brand you recommend ? Did you replace only the volume and not the tone? I ordered a guitar and will take your word to get a better sound.
got this baby a couple days ago. plays great! but it lacked the bite of a normal tele, so i replaced the tone pot with another vol. pot. you wouldnt BELIEVE how much twangier it is! now it sounds just like an esquire. still sounded good even w/o the mod though.
I've got one on hold at Guitar Center. When I saw it in the store, I honestly thought that it was a '52...until I saw the price. I agree with you...THIS should be the Mexican Standard Tele.
@kingstumble Are you suggesting that they're the same pickups as the Classic Vibe 50s (Toneriders), or just that they're Alnico 3s? I put the "Mexican '52 on hold without even plugging it in...a dry-run was sufficient...but I really like the CV 50s pups, so that would be a plus for me.
@guitargeezer No I just meant they both have Alnico 3 magnets.Mexican 52 specs can be found here: dawsons.co.uk/acatalog/fender-standard-telecaster-fsr-2011-butterscotch-blonde.html
The Squier p/u's are described as "Custom Vintage Style" so I don't think they are the same. I agree the CV 50 sounds great too---easily the best of the CV Teles IMO.
Hey Horse! I used her tonight for a NYE gig, as I had to ship my AVRI 52 off on cartage... Performed more than admirably. Actually, I just realized I don't think I had to tune up more than once or twice all night! That was my main concern about putting her in the trenches. I may replace the neck pup, and while I'm in there have a looksy at her guts. But really a terrific value.

this is a jazzy guitar if you want to play funk or play country with it you need more twangy pickups

Sounds really good even thro' your iPhone!
P/U's are Alnico 3 I believe--same as on the Squier Classic Vibe 50's Tele.
