How to debate like a Liberal: First bait your targeted opponent with a provocative question. When your opponent responds call him a racist. Ignore the issues but accuse him of harassing. Question his mental stability. Liberally use profanity- for emphasis. Blame Bush. Change subject and cite any irrelevant, obscure fact you can dredge up. Dismiss opponent, avoiding rational discussion of issues at all costs. Pretend you pawned him.
You republicans like the ones above are rich greedy bastards who hate Obama because he is black! You idiots who hate Obama are bringing down the country. I will bet some of you are getting tax cuts and If you are rich and getting tax cuts you need to burn in hell!
@padude64 "getting tax cuts you need to burn in hell" i.e. if you get to keep more of what you make (unlike the 50% of Americans who pay no taxes at all) you should burn in hell? How much of your income is going to people in third world countries where if you have a roof over your head and fresh water you are relatively rich? ...I love rich greedy bastards - unlike liberals, I don't have to pay for thier shit, at least they take care of themselves.
@F1reF0rEffect Most people pay taxes dumbass! Income, payroll whatever. The GOP cuts taxes and like the sneaky people they are. They compensate by raising taxes elsewhere and borrowing overseas!
@jrwel14 The GOP borrows overseas? lol that makes no sense. As for the fact that 50% of Americans pay 0 taxes that is a fact. Payroll taxes are Social Security - that is for yourself not the rest of the country. To be explicit - the amount of taxes (that don't go towards your own shit) are payed by the upper 50%, the bottom 50% pay ZERO yet get all the same benifits. It's no wonder to anyone with a half a brain why liberals think it's such a great idea for the rich to pay more.
@F1reF0rEffect The Republican President and Congress borrow from China to help solve budget issues. Most people pay taxes of some kind! The top 5% pay most of the taxes because they make most of the money! While the bottom makes so little that their deductions cancel any taxes they owe. Look at TaxPolicyCenter. Quit watching FAKENEWS FOX! IT SHOWS!
@jrwel14 "The Republican President and Congress borrow from China " - Obama is not a republican. "the bottom makes so little that their deductions cancel any taxes they owe" - right they don't pay any taxes which is what I already said.
@F1reF0rEffect One, it's the Republicans who have a borrow mentality. The Dems have more of let taxes pay. Which is why Bush had a huge debt at 35% and Clinton with 39% had a pay as you go. People pay taxes! Income, sales, payroll, whatever. Now, go look at those links I sent you. You might learn something!
@F1reF0rEffect thanks for showing the idiotic mindset of the right. It's like saying ALL those who lost their jobs are liberals. Shows, the stupid belief in having a discussion with someone who has a closed mind such as yours. Bet, you didn't look at those links I sent. Conservatives can't take the truth. Shows how wrong they have been.
@jrwel14 I did look at them. The first was inconclusive (as stated in the acticle), then progressives quote Adam Smith (1770) to explain why 21st century capitalism is not understood by conservatives lol? If that's not a joke then how about we go back 50 years instead of 250 and quote Robert Byrd or other beloved southern Democrats and their beliefs of Democrats in the 40's on racism? You going to have an open mind about being racist and stupid? Maybe you can't take the turth?
@jrwel14 Secondly when did I say anything akin to liberals are the only ones that lost their jobs? On the contrary liberals are the only ones asking for a hand out from others. I also said the majority of those who pay little to no taxes are liberal. My mind is open for you to dispute either of those facts. tell me specifically what I'm wrong about and give some facts. Is Obama not spending 4 times that of Bush? So far you haven't disproved a thing I've said.
@jrwel14 "Guess most corporations are run by liberals" - there you go with being ignorant - US corp's have the highest taxes in the World. Even the socialist EU's corp taxes are ~half that of the US 23.8% vs 40%. As for the skymachine website, information's great unless you can't read a chart. Bush's debt increase over 8 years was 4.05 trillion, Obama in 3 years was 3.6 trillion and once obamacare + intrest is accounted for we'll be at 19 trillion in 6 years.
If you've ever read The Fountainhead (one of Paul Ryans favorite books), you would realize that Paul Ryan is the character of Peter Keating. He is a corporate lapdog, spewing forth the words of his lobbyist masters (Ellsowrth Toohey), without actually understanding the end result. This type of ignorant obedience we see here, displayed by Paul Ryan, is the real threat to everyones freedom.
Notice how all Repubs are praising him as genius? Just like Toohey's minions did in The Fountainhead.
The ONLY way to bring jobs back to America is to lower the minimum wage to $2/hr.
This is the only way we can compete with China. Paul Ryan and my fellow republicans need to act on this now. Employers also should not have to carry the burdern of paying for health care either. Go get em Paul!
Ryan wants to give MORE tax breaks to the rich so they can build more factories overseas. This is a continuation of the Bush years where 8 million jobs were
outsourced. If this nigger has his way none of us will have jobs, health care, or social security! America deserves better!
Ryan and the GOP believe in choices!! That's right-if they have their way senior citizens will have to make lots of choices - one choice they'll have to make will be between health care and food! SUCKERS!!!
this guy should run for prez. he has balls. and thats what we need in this governent, someone who is not afraid to say whats logical and also do it, like why do we have an unbalanced budget? he would say, lets look at the books TOGETHER as a people. lets have the books and all the decisions that politicians are making open to the public so that we can KNOW wtf they are doing and so we can CATCH a mofo when they are wrong or just stealing from the taxpayer!!!!
I hope all you unemployed, and soon to be unemployed inbred right wingers remember not one republican voted to extend unemployment comp!
AND, the very first thing they will do if they get the majority is to cut taxes for the wealthy elite. This is where thier hearts are at. How's that trickle down economics working for you?
AND, Ryan, Boner and the rest of that nigger clan want to privatize social security! If that happens you can kiss your retiremant goodbye! SUCKERS!
@TheKmbt Pretty sure most Americans are smart enough to have other forms of retirement savings so they don't have to rely on Social Security. If you don't then you're a fool.
I hope all you unemployed, and soon to be unemployed inbred right wingers remember not one republican voted to extend unemployment comp!
And the first thing they'll do when they get the majority is to cut taxes on the wealthy elite! How's that trickle down economics working for you! SUCKERS!
@TheKmbt That's a very kind & generous thing to say. You only left out a small detail. Most Republican agreed that if it could be paid for that it would pass unchallenged. You just left out that small detail but what need do you have for facts or substance ???? You probubly voted for Obama.
@palehorse2032 Really? But they'll pass 60 billion to finance the fat cats behind the bogus war on terror without a word. Who's paying for that-I know-the unemployed!
who gives a $**t what he looks like, we have a pres that looks like a ken doll now and where is that getting us... really, people are nuts! paul ryan is awesome, he's got my vote if he runs! he's a man that works for us, he doesn't think we're just here to tax like the pres and all his buddies do now
No offense, but we need someone who doesn't look like a Ken doll as president. All of these presidents and politicians look like weasels, and well, they are.
Iraq is a socialist program funded by taxpayer money. The health of our troops there and here is a social program. The mail they receive from home and assistance by the post office of the Untied States is a social program. The GI Bill is a socialist program. The assistance to the Iraqi infrastructure is a socialist program. The assistance to the Iraqi system of schooling and libraries is a socialist program. All created by Bush. Tarp was created by Bush and Paulson and it is a social program.
Open your eyes 172677! I for one judge a person by their action more so then what they say and Obama's actions will send up straight to a Socialist, or God forbid, a Marxist government!
Ben Franklin was a socialist. He developed the system of public libraries. When you send you kid to school you are participating in a social program. Iraq is a social program paid for by taxpayers to benefit what? Democracy? Tarp was created by Paulson and Bush. It is a social program. Snow removal in your town is a social program. Town beaches are a social program. Places of worship benefit from a tax free status. That is a social program. Highways paid for by taxpayers are social programs.
@guywalker29 No. I am not an anarchist. Unlike the stereotypes of libertaians and conservative libertarians, I like most people who identify themselves as such believe in limited government. Socialism is a vast over expansion of the powers of a government. Government is pure force it is not reason. The constituiton plainly spells out what the government can and cannot do. Ben Franklin was anything but a socialist. He advocated for limited government as did Sam Adams and Thomas jefferson.
@palehorse2032 Nobody is advocating socialism in this country. What they are doing is creating programs that spawn industry and good growth through organized government programs. You want limited government until industry falls on it's face, then, as soon as water stops running from your well you want someone to do something about it. Ben Franklin and Adams and Jefferson existed before the Industrial Revolution. You cannot use them as examples. Franklin was never elected anything.
@guywalker29 Thanks for responding so respectfully. I'm serious ! Most people just curse at me when responding to one of my comments. It shows respect and I appreciate that. I will try to pay you that same courtesy. I want limited government indefinately. Esspecially when industry falls on it's face. Failure is as much apart of venture capitalism as success. I was born to parents who taught me that my health and wellbeing are my own responcibility, no one elses.
@guywalker29 To adress your first point, I must respectfully disagree. I have heard many politicians, entertainers & even friends of mine advocating socialism even communism. Secondly government programs don't spur industry & private sector growth it only hinders it in the best of situtations. I'm not advocating a "le se faire" aproach to regualtion, as we saw with BP that is not the answer either. But a delicate balnce must be held to also keep government regualted.
@palehorse2032 You are delusional in your ideas concerning the political structure in a post industrial state. Your point of reference is antiquated. You are ignoring the reason the Civil War was fought. You refuse to acknowledge the breadth of the technological industrial complex we live in. Your selective history doesn't pertain to what has happened in the world since the First and Second World Wars. What is out of control is your lack of consideration of recent history.
@guywalker29 The Civil War was fought over states rights. What does that have to with socialism? I'm not refusing to acknowledge any aspect of the complexities in the modern industrial economy. I'm not sure what part of history I am supposedly selective in regards to ...you havn't really adressed any point I made.
@palehorse2032 The Civil War was fought over Imminent Domain and the Union of States because of the locomotive. Not states rights. You have to read. You have to stop watching Fox News and find out about Reagan calling for youths being shot on college campuses. You are being spoon fed a diet of easy answers like cutting taxes and removing government. You are confusing social programs with a government control. You select parts of history to make connections while you discount other parts.
@guywalker29 Well the Civil war was fought for a few reasons so I'm not gona say that you are wrong but I know that a good portion of that wa states rights. So the funny part about your comment about Fox news is that I don't even own a TV. lOl I havn't been spoon fed anything by anyone. I have studied History for a long time. Even though you make some valid points your not all right. Your twisting my points around. I was the one who drew he distiction between social progams & government control.
@palehorse2032 You compared social programs with government control. Do you think libraries are controlling your mind? Do you think that public schools or town beaches or little league or snow removal coordinated by your government is controlling your mind? Get off it. Iraq is a social program. Your school lunch is a social program. Your town tree trimming is a social program. Letting your church exist without paying taxes is a social program. It's not evil.
@guywalker29 What's wrong with cutting taxes and reducing government's role in the affairs of free people ? It would have been much more effective than a silly "stimulus package" Government can't seem to do anything very efficiently anyway so it would seem to intelligent people that solution is very simple.
@palehorse2032 I will tell you what is wrong with cutting taxes. We are at war. You cannot win a war by cutting taxes. History has proven: you will lose. You have to employ all your resources and throw the kitchen sink at your enemy. Palehorse, you have a lot to learn. Read history.
@guywalker29 Out of control government was what the founders warned against in the Bill of Rights and the Federalist papers. Remember government rules by force and must be viewed with suspicion at all times. Hey the only reason I used Ben Franklin was to rebutt your claim that he was a socialist. Yes it was before the indust rev but even then they understood what man was capable of when unencumbered by burdomson government & regulation.
@guywalker29 The argument between capitalism and socialism is simply an argument of whether or not people (free people) are able to govern themselves. Ronald Reagan once said "that if no one among us is qualified to govern our selves who among us is qualified to govern another ?"
@palehorse2032 Ronald Reagan also said he believed in satellites in outer space that would house laser beams to detonate International Ballistic Missiles before exploding within United States territories. Ronald Reagan also believed in the occupation of college campuses by the National Guard. Ronald Reagan thought he ended the cold war by defeating the U.S.S.R. and I suppose you do to. Nobody is arguing about capitalism or socialism. I am merely pointing out a fact Iraq is a social program.
@guywalker29 Star wars was a really cool concept but years ahead of 80's technology. I would like to point out however that it actually was a contributing factor to the decline of the Soviet Union. It fooled them into thinking we had technology that was far beyond even our means. I'm not aware of any position that he took regarding miltary occupation of college campuses. That's new to me ... not to doubt your claim. And yes I do believe that he was instrumental in ending the cold war.
@palehorse2032 Star Wars was maybe "cool" in your mind, but it was as realistic as Dungeons and Dragons. If you think Reagan had anything to do with the decline of the Soviet Union then you should read what Gorbechev had to say about it. The "Founding Fathers" you talk about, are you speaking of Pilgrims or of C. Columbus or Ponce de Leon? Nobody before the Civil War had any idea that we would become an industrial Union Of States so don't delude yourself. We don't wear 3 cornered hats anymore.
@guywalker29 ... lol Of course the Soviets are gona blame their decline of their failed communist experiment on anything but the truth. It is in the nature of those who stand in opposition to freedom to suppress information and to indoctrinate their people. The USSR got owned by it's military economy and went broke trying to keep up with the US. I really shouldn't be surprised by your belief though ... they're teaching it in Junior high and High school text books as well. It's just untrue.
@palehorse2032 Gorbechev didn't blame anyone, he was the one who pushed the Soviet Union to the brink, not Reagan. What you are missing is that the Civil War was fought for co-operation between states. To help each other accept the new technologies like the locomotive running through each other's territories. You mistaken history because you find it convenient to connect simplistic ideals that have no weight and no historical reference. You tout false premises without any criterion.
@palehorse2032 -- When Reagan was the Governor of California, it was a VERY tense time, politically, and people were DEATHLY afraid of their own children "rising up" and trying to take over; Reagan DID suggest that "troublemakers" (i.e. civil rights and/or anti-Vietnam War demonstrators) on college campuses should be dealt with at the business end of a rifle! NOT a very even-tempered response.
@LeshaAnn That sounds a lot like the stereotypes that have been repeated for years and echoed by the media about the underlining beliefs of conservatives but doesn't really stand up in actuality. Reagan was niether a tyrant or a racist. Your "facts" have obviously been twisted to suit your positions. Now if you want my opinion the common white collar anti-war college student in the 60's should have been left to protest although it did nothing but fuel the enemy's propoganda machine.
@palehorse2032 They're not "MY" facts; Reagan said that! Look it up; It's even on film, 'cause he said it at a Gubernatorial PRESS conference! I'm not "twisting" anything; He said they all SMELLED BAD, too!
@palehorse2032 What is it about control you do not like? Would you rather be out of control? Would you rather do exactly what you want when you want to without regard to anyone else? Would you like to see a movement of social change or consideration without control? Would you like to provide social programs in Iraq but without any controls? We need to control our spending when we help each other.
It is a very popular tactic to win any argument. Ridicule and mock, even without any proof or truth. Its puts you on the defensive and off topic, instead of on the offensive debating issue at hand. It is clever tactic, if you are in high school and I think it may be the same as bullying.
@circlecitychaos Sure - from Alinsky's 'Rules for Radicals' - suggested reading by NEA, and high school students. What an Absolute Perversion of American education!
wish we had more politicians that shounded like this. Not the ones that are in presidency and congree now that dont give a damn what the american people want. Shut the doors and private meeyings not allowing repulicans in on them what kind of crap is that. That to me is control, govt control. We cannot let this happen, we all need to stand up, or else we will end up lie EUR and their parliament
wow thats pretty cool that HIS program can extend benefits, eliminate discriminatory practices, without raising taxes or creating new debt. its magic!
The only reason Republicans don't know specifically what is in the Dems health care bills is that they are literally locking Republicans out of the discussion. Dems literally changed the locks on the doors to the meeting rooms. This coming from Obama's party. Obama said he wanted to be more open, he wanted to work with those with different views.
Read Paul Ryan's health care plan (HR 2520) you will see it is not more of the same. It helps people without destroying the economy.
What crap. Republicans have had a seat on each committee concerning the health care issue....and ALL of them have said they wouldn't vote for anything that came out of committee.,
They removed themselves from the discussions a long time ago by pandering to the insurance companies and accpeting LOTS of money from them to do so.
They are the party of "no" and will never work with Obama on anything. They hate that they've lost house/senate. They don't CARE about we, the people, at all.
All Republicans have said they won't vote for anything out of committee because the committees are controlled by Democrats.
More importantly, the committees are controlled by Democrats who only present far left view points. Why would a conservative vote for a far left proposal?
If Democrats would be willing to offer proposals that don't lean so far to the left both sides could compromise. Dems have gone so far left they are unwilling to compromise.
The Republican party of "no" won't be involved in anything for the American people. They hate the fact that their party has been destroyed by Bush and the tinhatters - and hate that a black man sits in the White House.
They hate the fact that Obama's administration will bring government back to the people...and out of their greedy, self-serving hands.
We'll clean the rest of them out over the next year at election times throughout the country.
The Dems are NOT for the people and certainly NOT for working families. Dems want to just keep giving hand outs through govt programs that have failed or at best are broken.
Most innner cities have been destroyed decades of liberal/progressive programs. Conservatives have not held positions of power in inner cities so it is almost entirely on those liberals who keep taxing the low income families (not just business). Plus the taxes on business mean less money they have to create jobs.
Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security, Cash for Clunkers... well I could go on but there are far too many govt programs that far exceed what originally was told to the people.
Perhaps if you would think for yourself instead of believeing the same tired talking points that the unions, DNC, and MSNBC continually spread you would be better off.
It is astounding that you can not comprehend the fact that the US does not have enough money to pay for all the progressive programs.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Well, how about this:
I received Social Security and Medicare....and most of my friends do also. You, not receiving these things, have no idea how it works, what the problems might be, how those problems are being address - or much else.
News should come from many sources....but never, ever from any one TV station or publication.... Unlike the Cracker nation, most of us actually read..ya know, like, newspapers, books, periodicals.
You guys get your info from goofballs and loonies
I am a conservative and that usually means I vote Republican and I do not in the least have a problem with a black man being President. I do have a HUGE problem with his socialist and Marxist agenda.
He surrounds himself with people who by their own words are Marxists and socialists. That will be the demise of Democrats. They just keep pushing too far left which turns more and more moderates away.
Seems conservatives will be the ones "clean them out" at election times around the US.
I hardly know where to begin to respond...so I won't.
The tinhat verbiage rolls from your fingers as memorized...."marxist", "socialist", etc. The mantra of the disenfranchised....who can put no definition to these words at all. You simply parrot what others say with no understanding of the words themselves.
"Moderate" and "conservative" are simply words for the tinhatters. They couldn't put forth a position on a bet...they don't have the intelligence.
Of course you don't know where to begin, 172677, because you can't argue the fact that Obama has surrounded people that are self avowed Marxists and socialists.
You would have a case if members of Obama's administration didn't say IN THEIR OWN WORDS that they are Marxists and socialists. But, they have said it. Not even beating around the issue on it. They have straight up said it.
Take off your progressive tinhat and accept they are Marxists and socialists as they say.
Unless you can site your sources for information concerning members of the Obama admin admitting to being Marxist or socialist, then you're just blowins smoke, repeating rumors or making it up.
What I KNOW is that this administration has a lot of crap to clean up after 10 years of neglect - and that Obama was overwhelmingly elected to do that.
You and a bunch of others fell for the old slick salesman- all talk and no substance. Name one thing that Obama is doing better or less than Bush?
Contrary to belief, the people do not elect the President. YOU did not do anything.
Typical that you are requesting sources when the answers are so easy to find. The problem is your mind is either so tightly closed or to brain washed to see other possibilities and views.
Not sure what to make of your offensive term to label white people
It is also important to remember that plenty of Democrats have also accepted LOTS of money from special interests including insurance companies. By your definition they should remove themselves from the discussion then too.
Thank God the Republicans are the party of "no". If it wasn't for them Dems would keep spending. The govt has a moral obligation to spend wisely. The Dems clearly don't CARE about we, the people, they just keep printing money killing jobs and the economy.
So, where were the tinhatters when the Bushie boys took the largest surplus in history and turned it in to the largest deficit in history???? Where were they while Bush and Chancellor Palpatine were borrowing 2 Billion dollars a month from China to fund an illegal war?
Republicans sat on their asses and let it happen....they did nothing. Now it's time to clean up Bushes mess and they still sit on their asses and do nothing.
They just want their perks, the money and reelection....
True conservatives were complaining about Bush's spending during his term too. More importantly, where are the left wing Bush haters now that Obama is spending at minimum 4-5 times as much as Bush was AND he and the Dems want to kill more jobs with higher taxes in their health care plans AND cap and tax.
You are right the Repubs didn't do enough when they had the chance. They should have stopped the Dems from forcing banks to make bad loans to low income people who couldn't afford them.
Put America in further debt! More specifically, the elderly get limited care (words of the liberal Robert Reich) and younger generations left with the bill that is a debt they can never repay.
Keep speaking out conservatives. Do not remain silent. Likely the Dems will pass some form of health care reform at some point but keep the pressure on them. Hold them accountable and remember that ALL elections matter!
Massachusetts govt health care is going broke and looking at cutting benefits after being in effect only three years.National govt health care will be no different and will be a bureaucratic nightmare.

Unfortunately, it's not true. Post your proposal on here, Rep. Ryan... just one of the 40 you mentioned. (I know, you'll say they're out there... so... post... ONE). And your figures are incorrect.
Google "A Roadmap for America's Future", it outlines quite a few ideas there- Paul Ryan has been pushing this but has received little attention, Media/Democrats saying its the party of NO, when in fact their voices just aren't heard.. Paul Ryan has real solutions to real problems
@Kyguy922 It gets little attention because Ryan's Roadmap destroys Medicare and Social Security as we know it, the corporate media does not want people to know about this. His "Roadmap" has been debunked by every economist out there. Paul Ryan is a fucking joke.

AndrewD22242224 1 year ago
@AndrewD22242224 I don't know..who?
guywalker29 1 year ago
@guywalker29 Social programs and socialism are two different things. One is motivated by necessity and the other is motivated by a will to control.
palehorse2032 1 year ago
@palehorse2032 A will control what? People? Expenses? Materials? What is so bad about control? You an anarchist?
guywalker29 1 year ago
@guywalker29 No. I am not an anarchist. Unlike the stereotypes of libertaians and conservative libertarians, I like most people who identify themselves as such believe in limited government. Socialism is a vast over expansion of the powers of a government. Government is pure force it is not reason. The constituiton plainly spells out what the government can and cannot do. Ben Franklin was anything but a socialist. He advocated for limited government as did Sam Adams and Thomas jefferson.
palehorse2032 1 year ago
@palehorse2032 Nobody is advocating socialism in this country. What they are doing is creating programs that spawn industry and good growth through organized government programs. You want limited government until industry falls on it's face, then, as soon as water stops running from your well you want someone to do something about it. Ben Franklin and Adams and Jefferson existed before the Industrial Revolution. You cannot use them as examples. Franklin was never elected anything.
guywalker29 1 year ago
@guywalker29 Thanks for responding so respectfully. I'm serious ! Most people just curse at me when responding to one of my comments. It shows respect and I appreciate that. I will try to pay you that same courtesy. I want limited government indefinately. Esspecially when industry falls on it's face. Failure is as much apart of venture capitalism as success. I was born to parents who taught me that my health and wellbeing are my own responcibility, no one elses.
palehorse2032 1 year ago
@guywalker29 To adress your first point, I must respectfully disagree. I have heard many politicians, entertainers & even friends of mine advocating socialism even communism. Secondly government programs don't spur industry & private sector growth it only hinders it in the best of situtations. I'm not advocating a "le se faire" aproach to regualtion, as we saw with BP that is not the answer either. But a delicate balnce must be held to also keep government regualted.
palehorse2032 1 year ago
@palehorse2032 You are delusional in your ideas concerning the political structure in a post industrial state. Your point of reference is antiquated. You are ignoring the reason the Civil War was fought. You refuse to acknowledge the breadth of the technological industrial complex we live in. Your selective history doesn't pertain to what has happened in the world since the First and Second World Wars. What is out of control is your lack of consideration of recent history.
guywalker29 1 year ago
@guywalker29 The Civil War was fought over states rights. What does that have to with socialism? I'm not refusing to acknowledge any aspect of the complexities in the modern industrial economy. I'm not sure what part of history I am supposedly selective in regards to ...you havn't really adressed any point I made.
palehorse2032 1 year ago
@palehorse2032 The Civil War was fought over Imminent Domain and the Union of States because of the locomotive. Not states rights. You have to read. You have to stop watching Fox News and find out about Reagan calling for youths being shot on college campuses. You are being spoon fed a diet of easy answers like cutting taxes and removing government. You are confusing social programs with a government control. You select parts of history to make connections while you discount other parts.
guywalker29 1 year ago
@guywalker29 Well the Civil war was fought for a few reasons so I'm not gona say that you are wrong but I know that a good portion of that wa states rights. So the funny part about your comment about Fox news is that I don't even own a TV. lOl I havn't been spoon fed anything by anyone. I have studied History for a long time. Even though you make some valid points your not all right. Your twisting my points around. I was the one who drew he distiction between social progams & government control.
palehorse2032 1 year ago
@palehorse2032 You compared social programs with government control. Do you think libraries are controlling your mind? Do you think that public schools or town beaches or little league or snow removal coordinated by your government is controlling your mind? Get off it. Iraq is a social program. Your school lunch is a social program. Your town tree trimming is a social program. Letting your church exist without paying taxes is a social program. It's not evil.
guywalker29 1 year ago
@guywalker29 What's wrong with cutting taxes and reducing government's role in the affairs of free people ? It would have been much more effective than a silly "stimulus package" Government can't seem to do anything very efficiently anyway so it would seem to intelligent people that solution is very simple.
palehorse2032 1 year ago
@palehorse2032 I will tell you what is wrong with cutting taxes. We are at war. You cannot win a war by cutting taxes. History has proven: you will lose. You have to employ all your resources and throw the kitchen sink at your enemy. Palehorse, you have a lot to learn. Read history.
guywalker29 1 year ago
@guywalker29 Out of control government was what the founders warned against in the Bill of Rights and the Federalist papers. Remember government rules by force and must be viewed with suspicion at all times. Hey the only reason I used Ben Franklin was to rebutt your claim that he was a socialist. Yes it was before the indust rev but even then they understood what man was capable of when unencumbered by burdomson government & regulation.
palehorse2032 1 year ago
@guywalker29 The argument between capitalism and socialism is simply an argument of whether or not people (free people) are able to govern themselves. Ronald Reagan once said "that if no one among us is qualified to govern our selves who among us is qualified to govern another ?"
palehorse2032 1 year ago
@palehorse2032 Ronald Reagan also said he believed in satellites in outer space that would house laser beams to detonate International Ballistic Missiles before exploding within United States territories. Ronald Reagan also believed in the occupation of college campuses by the National Guard. Ronald Reagan thought he ended the cold war by defeating the U.S.S.R. and I suppose you do to. Nobody is arguing about capitalism or socialism. I am merely pointing out a fact Iraq is a social program.
guywalker29 1 year ago
@guywalker29 Star wars was a really cool concept but years ahead of 80's technology. I would like to point out however that it actually was a contributing factor to the decline of the Soviet Union. It fooled them into thinking we had technology that was far beyond even our means. I'm not aware of any position that he took regarding miltary occupation of college campuses. That's new to me ... not to doubt your claim. And yes I do believe that he was instrumental in ending the cold war.
palehorse2032 1 year ago
@palehorse2032 Star Wars was maybe "cool" in your mind, but it was as realistic as Dungeons and Dragons. If you think Reagan had anything to do with the decline of the Soviet Union then you should read what Gorbechev had to say about it. The "Founding Fathers" you talk about, are you speaking of Pilgrims or of C. Columbus or Ponce de Leon? Nobody before the Civil War had any idea that we would become an industrial Union Of States so don't delude yourself. We don't wear 3 cornered hats anymore.
guywalker29 1 year ago
@guywalker29 ... lol Of course the Soviets are gona blame their decline of their failed communist experiment on anything but the truth. It is in the nature of those who stand in opposition to freedom to suppress information and to indoctrinate their people. The USSR got owned by it's military economy and went broke trying to keep up with the US. I really shouldn't be surprised by your belief though ... they're teaching it in Junior high and High school text books as well. It's just untrue.
palehorse2032 1 year ago
@palehorse2032 Gorbechev didn't blame anyone, he was the one who pushed the Soviet Union to the brink, not Reagan. What you are missing is that the Civil War was fought for co-operation between states. To help each other accept the new technologies like the locomotive running through each other's territories. You mistaken history because you find it convenient to connect simplistic ideals that have no weight and no historical reference. You tout false premises without any criterion.
guywalker29 1 year ago
@palehorse2032 -- When Reagan was the Governor of California, it was a VERY tense time, politically, and people were DEATHLY afraid of their own children "rising up" and trying to take over; Reagan DID suggest that "troublemakers" (i.e. civil rights and/or anti-Vietnam War demonstrators) on college campuses should be dealt with at the business end of a rifle! NOT a very even-tempered response.
LeshaAnn 1 year ago
@LeshaAnn That sounds a lot like the stereotypes that have been repeated for years and echoed by the media about the underlining beliefs of conservatives but doesn't really stand up in actuality. Reagan was niether a tyrant or a racist. Your "facts" have obviously been twisted to suit your positions. Now if you want my opinion the common white collar anti-war college student in the 60's should have been left to protest although it did nothing but fuel the enemy's propoganda machine.
palehorse2032 1 year ago
@palehorse2032 They're not "MY" facts; Reagan said that! Look it up; It's even on film, 'cause he said it at a Gubernatorial PRESS conference! I'm not "twisting" anything; He said they all SMELLED BAD, too!
LeshaAnn 1 year ago
@LeshaAnn They do smell bad ... That is a fact ! lol

172677,
The only reason Republicans don't know specifically what is in the Dems health care bills is that they are literally locking Republicans out of the discussion.
Gillz17 2 years ago 2
172677 2 years ago
All Republicans have said they won't vote for anything out of committee because the committees are controlled by Democrats.
More importantly, the committees are controlled by Democrats who only present far left view points. Why would a conservative vote for a far left proposal?
If Democrats would be willing to offer proposals that don't lean so far to the left both sides could compromise. Dems have gone so far left they are unwilling to compromise.
Gillz17 2 years ago 2
The Republican party of "no" won't be involved in anything for the American people. They hate the fact that their party has been destroyed by Bush and the tinhatters - and hate that a black man sits in the White House.
They hate the fact that Obama's administration will bring government back to the people...and out of their greedy, self-serving hands.
We'll clean the rest of them out over the next year at election times throughout the country.
172677 2 years ago
The Dems are NOT for the people and certainly NOT for working families. Dems want to just keep giving hand outs through govt programs that have failed or at best are broken.
Most innner cities have been destroyed decades of liberal/progressive programs. Conservatives have not held positions of power in inner cities so it is almost entirely on those liberals who keep taxing the low income families (not just business). Plus the taxes on business mean less money they have to create jobs.
Gillz17 2 years ago
Which programs would that be? Instead of reading from the tinhatter script...think for yourself....define, on your own, what you mean.
Your ignorance of how things work is astounding.....
172677 2 years ago
Which programs?
Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security, Cash for Clunkers... well I could go on but there are far too many govt programs that far exceed what originally was told to the people.
Perhaps if you would think for yourself instead of believeing the same tired talking points that the unions, DNC, and MSNBC continually spread you would be better off.
It is astounding that you can not comprehend the fact that the US does not have enough money to pay for all the progressive programs.

Gillz17 2 years ago
I hardly know where to begin to respond...so I won't.
The tinhat verbiage rolls from your fingers as memorized...."marxist", "socialist", etc. The mantra of the disenfranchised....who can put no definition to these words at all. You simply parrot what others say with no understanding of the words themselves.
"Moderate" and "conservative" are simply words for the tinhatters. They couldn't put forth a position on a bet...they don't have the intelligence.
172677 2 years ago
Of course you don't know where to begin, 172677, because you can't argue the fact that Obama has surrounded people that are self avowed Marxists and socialists.
You would have a case if members of Obama's administration didn't say IN THEIR OWN WORDS that they are Marxists and socialists. But, they have said it. Not even beating around the issue on it. They have straight up said it.
Take off your progressive tinhat and accept they are Marxists and socialists as they say.
Gillz17 2 years ago 3
Saying something doesn't make it so....
The Cracker nation will just have to accept it.
Your sources, please.

172677,
It is also important to remember that plenty of Democrats have also accepted LOTS of money from special interests including insurance companies.
Gillz17 2 years ago
So, where were the tinhatters when the Bushie boys took the largest surplus in history and turned it in to the largest deficit in history???? Where were they while Bush and Chancellor Palpatine were borrowing 2 Billion dollars a month from China to fund an illegal war?
Republicans sat on their asses and let it happen....they did nothing. Now it's time to clean up Bushes mess and they still sit on their asses and do nothing.
They just want their perks, the money and reelection....
172677 2 years ago
True conservatives were complaining about Bush's spending during his term too. More importantly, where are the left wing Bush haters now that Obama is spending at minimum 4-5 times as much as Bush was AND he and the Dems want to kill more jobs with higher taxes in their health care plans AND cap and tax.
You are right the Repubs didn't do enough when they had the chance. They should have stopped the Dems from forcing banks to make bad loans to low income people who couldn't afford them.
Gillz17 2 years ago
Here's the liberals' "great" health care plan:
Put America in further debt! More specifically, the elderly get limited care (words of the liberal Robert Reich) and younger generations left with the bill that is a debt they can never repay.
Keep speaking out conservatives. Do not remain silent. Likely the Dems will pass some form of health care reform at some point but keep the pressure on them. Hold them accountable and remember that ALL elections matter!
