The AC cobra is not a muscle car. It's barely even a sports car. It's a street legal race car. Corvettes aren't muscle cars either. they are sports cars. A muscle car is an intermediate with a V8.

I don't see why people complain that the Corvette ain't on here, it was in a class of it's own, more sports car than muscle car. I think the 1970 Buick GS 455 Stage 1 should be on here, factory 370hp & 510lb-ft of torque, it don't get much more muscle than that (except with a 440+6 or 426 Hemi)

AMX didn't make a 401? Well I got news for you, I own and AMX with a 401 that I bought brand new straight from the dealer. When you say 390 then your thinking '68 to '70. That was the Javelin and the AMX. The 401 was avail for the '71 to '74 in the Javelin, and the Javelin AMX. Mine is a 1972 Jav-AMX, the best and fewest made of that model AMX. Mine is also in Jetset Blue (few in that color, only in '72) and white vinyl seats only offered in '72 and late mid-year. Chev 409's were great!

The Javelin AMX '68 to '70, a two seater raced by Mark Donohue against muscle cars like the Camaro. However, the Jav AMX '71 to '74 has four seats. I own a '72 Jav AMX, bought brand new in '72. Today AMC's past roll in racing and muscle cars is always ignored. 600K '65 Mustangs were built. 3,000 AMX's were built/yr, today is a very rare bird.

@henrynevins AMX didn't make a 401, it was a 390 with higher compression, much lighter car than a Javelin. What he missed was the real muscle in the early 60s, like everyone else misses. 427 cid was a race engine put in Ford Talledega, also the 428SCJ that went into Shelby's, Fairlanes, and a lot of other Fords. GM made a 427 that was a punched out 409 (1961-1965, 440HP), the 427 had 13:1 compression, dual quad intake, solid cam, fit in 67 Vettes, Camaros, Impala's. Hemi 426 are good.

I don't know what the criteria was for creating this list, but it wasn't speed or 1/4 mile numbers. The # 10 pick [ 1966 427 Cobra ] ran 12.20et/119mph off the showroom floor. Thats 1-2 seconds faster than any other car on that list. I know top 10 Muscle Car lists can be a subjective undertaking,but when you take the fastest muscle car of the 1960's and rate it #10, it's hard to take the rest of the list seriously.

This video is bias'd on the video creators own opinon's. The Ford mustang has out sold every single muscle car on the market. It was the pionier giving birth to a cheap car with power. sadly ford has lost that touch but that's what a muscle car is not the AC Cobra that's a sport's car.

The second most sold is the Chevrolet SS. that would be number 2. than so on and so on.

this is not exaclty true. Although many mopar cars of the muscle car era might have looked identical, they offered different options and intereiors, transmissions ect. Mopar were by far the best muscle cars of all time. Best in price,power, and looks. Chrysler also pioneered transmissions with the torque flight automatics and the clutchless throw shifters. And dont get into motors with me because HEMI was one badge on a car that turned heads and made GM and Ford cars piss their exhaust pipes.
