Eventually, fighters with better hands will compete in mma. I've known of some good strikers that attempted transitioning into mma but their lack of a ground game resulted in one dimensional fighters. If you pay attention to some organizations putting mma fights together, you'll notice that fighters have great striking such as WEC. Even kickboxing fighters don't usually have the hands of a boxer but a well rounded fighter will usually always defeat the one dimensional fighter.
