However, the US did support Hitler in 1928 and so did England but that was because they wanted to ensure that the leading socialist government of Germany at that time didn't regain power.

Hitler was the safe bet and yes, both the US and England knew of his extreme tendencies but figured it was better to help him, then dispose of him later than risk wider spread socialism.

@pianoplayeruk The US moved the Carriers out of Pearl Harbor in order to be able to use them to further the war. This was one of the reasons he did not continue the attack. I know the history tells of his concern about Americans having a weapon behind every blade of grass, but this was also another reason. This was also the reason Nixon didn't carry out his plans for a dictatorship in 1974. Little know fact of history.

i believe the reason the us didnt act and allowed japan to attack was they wanted the attack to happen so the US could enter the war. if they made preparations to meet the attack then the japs may have learned america knew it was coming and the japs would have possibly callled off the attack. So they order the carriers out but left everything else as per normal.

We funded Hitler, and planned Pearl Harbor [FDR authorized it], in order to justify our entrance into the European war and thus FDR didn't have to go back on his promise not to send American Boys over there. This is supported by evidence.

yes they knew pearl harbour was to happen 3.5 months before hand when a german double agent working for the british whose last name was popov told 2 fbi agents it was going to happen. it's well documented and even a TV interview of him saying it in the 60's before he died in 1964. Poppov is also the guy that james bond is based on and was very important in feeding the false info to germany for the d-day landings.
