rome was mainly white until they were conquered by the moors who then proceeded to screw so many roman women that they changed the main course of the bloodline. after that they became more "multi-cultural" as time went on and they conquered more lands and brought slaves back to the homeland. however they were truly multicultural in that race mixing was looked down on not in the sense of today's multiculturalism which actually destroys diversity by encouraging inter race relations.

while i can't deny the early superiority of the arab civilizations vs early white i believe the white race has since then surpassed all others by far. that's not to say the other races aren't capable of producing anything or any one worthwhile just that our accomplishments exceed theirs and i believe they will continue to.

When in times of crisis they were able to come together and support one another, and when times were good were able to compete with one another. I know it goes against your belief, but your belief largely lies within the ideology of nationalism. Now nationalism is somethimg quite new in human history. BTW Singapore is multicultural and very very very succesful and also multilingual :P

i guess in that sense they were multi-cultural but that ,in my opinion, would be considered a "white multiculturalism" where although there many cultures they were mainly of a white racial origin. they were multicultural in the sense that there were many different cultures in their empire but they were white meaning that the pop definition of multiculturalism does not apply. i am also not claiming that a multicultural civilization can't be successful.

There were many different cultures in their empire, yes, but they didn't mix. The Dalmations stayed in Dalmatia, the Thracians stayed in Thrace, etc. If anything, Rome was unicultural in that the Romans tried to force their culture on conquered societies.
You also seem to be confusing skin colour with culture. Being white doesn't determine your culture. Amongst white Europe there are dozens of different cultures (Swiss, French, Spanish, etc).

lol. The city of Rome was very much multicultural. People didn't stay within their territory believe it or not. People migrated and moved around a lot within the roman empire in search of opportunities. Mainly because Rome was a commercial society. There have even been a few african emperors. believe it or not Rome was a very dynamic society. irrigation, plumbing. They had it. After they fell it took over 1500 yrs to figure it out again.

Exactly, each city state had it's own culture, and those cultures didn't co-mingle, they existed seperately of each other. Each city state was exactly that: it's own state, it's own nation.
I'm not a nationalist, I'm an anarchist. I don't believe in any concept of "state". I think each individual should be allowed to do what they want, without other cultures forced on them. Multiculturalism is exactly that: the forcible imposition of foreign culture.

no, nationalism is an ideology that came about within the late 19th and 20th century. Why? War finally needed the participation of the entire society unlike previously in human history. The concept of the nation-state only came about in the 17th century. Didn't become popular until the 18th century. I don't think you an understanding of history. internationalism is the new trend? There is some intolerance that goes on, but a lot of it is from the older generation. the youth is quite tolerant of each other, but of course your thinking is probably around "they need to grow up." This is where I have to say. The old generations have to die off and let the new generation step up. hongkong is very multicultural. So its Tokyo. So was my University APU in JApan. It isn't a failure. People who are intolerant are the failures.

different ethnicities living together is not "multiculturalism", different ethnicities can easily live alongside each other while sharing a culture. It's called assimilation. There's nothing wrong with immigrants celebrating their culture, but multiculturalism is a creed that says all cultures and cultural practices are equal, when that is not so (for example, there are some cultures that still practice slavery).
