  • thanks for upload. great inspiration.

  • I'm so sorry but I'm feel I'm in some hospital, that is insanity !!!

  • Hey GOULD!

Instead of acting like a 'weird genius' try sounding good on the trumpet first...

    Only idiots buy that bullcrap

  • lol 4;47, my FAVOURITE part, evar!

  • "Siegfried, SIEGFRIED!"

Mark, that first set was such a Larry David/Curb moment! Sir, you just the right amount of expertise and sense of humor to create such perfectly hilarious videos. Keep them coming!

  • I'm sure as a member of the MET, lead by one of the world's great opera conductors, Gould has played many more Ring Cycles than I have although I've certainly seen more productions. Perhaps he's been spoiled by Levine. But that's beside the point. Maybe the humor of this parody is lost on me because I've actually played for conductors who knew about as little about music as Brian. I still find this low-brow schlock and demeaning to arguably the greatest musical work of the 19th century.

  • Is this supposed to be a parody? A joke? It looks like the student is doing Borat...

  • "Take me Siegfried!" You are truly the master Maestro Gould.

  • What idiotic nonsense! I like to see this bozo fall on his face in front of a real orchestra. Of course with "conducting" like that, they'd probably be running for the exits instead of playing their instruments for an imposter like that. Better yet, they'd remain completely silent. An even bigger insult. For satire, I prefer Anna Russell. At least she understands the music.

  • @tympani1 you might want to think twice before attacking a musician like gould...

  • One of the more enlightening videos I've ever seen in my life.

  • Don't help the trombones....

  • ...don't give the orchestra too much....XD I wish more conductors conducted like this as they almost always give wayyyyyy too much.

...not bad, not bad...but....ho kisses for you....XD

  • Bass Clarinets never get kisses </3

  • Mr., I mean, Maestro Gould and his assistant, both have great futures as Wagnerian conductors.

  • @chockablocked More as comedians.

  • Mr., I mean, Maestro Gould and his assistent, both have great futures as Wagnerian conductors.

  • "Faster Brian, faster than the music! Yes, go! Go!"

  • Hi Mark, We're doing this next year. If I see our MD riding the steed i'll let you know!

    Love your work.

4.21 reminds me so much of Larry David!

  • who IS this jerk? i mean the guy who's 'teaching' Brian how to 'conduct'????

  • @jeepgerhard212

    hahahahahahahahaha

  • Bravo!

  • I hope its a Joke and not Professional Musiker...

  • @OpernDriver What is "Professional Musiker?"

  • @OpernDriver It is and Mr. Gould is. (he use to be the principal trumpet of the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra and teaches at Julliard)

Although, I have to say it's very accurate for a lot of conductors I've seen. Many are over paid and think too highly of themselves. The musicians make the real music.

  • I'll never beat a pattern again!!!

  • I'm not sure which would have benefitted your career more as we were growing up: horseback riding lessons or hip hop dance, remarkably you appear to be a master of both regardless! Love you bro, sis

  • "you must be fearless... and stupid" LOVE IT!

  • This is the best lesson about Conduct on youtube !!!! Thank you very much Mr. Gould !!! =)

  • "don't give the much, Brian. Be difficult. Don't be helpful to the trombones. They'll learn to trust you."

    beautiful stuff guys.

  • 4:25 SIEGFRIED !!!! yes.

this is the best and only lesson we need really.

  • "bass clarinet, not bad, not bad, but no kisses for you!"

  • I have never been more proud to be coached by Brian McWhorter. Next time I'm in New York or Eugene, I'd like a lesson so as to have Brian, or as I call him, "Master" expound on the intricacies of the Wagner Call. I've always taken that middle section in three and am astonished by the lucidity of his one pattern. Please, will you continue enlightening us, o' Master?

  • Classic!

  • this is comedy for the idiotic educated elite.

  • @WoodDuck14 Right, like in the museum, where people stay in awe in front of a red sculpture until a warden comes and tells them that it is a fire extinguisher.

  • Why did I go to grad school, when I could have just watched this video...Namaste. SIEGFRIED!!!!!
