Mark, that first set was such a Larry David/Curb moment! Sir, you just the right amount of expertise and sense of humor to create such perfectly hilarious videos. Keep them coming!
I'm sure as a member of the MET, lead by one of the world's great opera conductors, Gould has played many more Ring Cycles than I have although I've certainly seen more productions. Perhaps he's been spoiled by Levine. But that's beside the point. Maybe the humor of this parody is lost on me because I've actually played for conductors who knew about as little about music as Brian. I still find this low-brow schlock and demeaning to arguably the greatest musical work of the 19th century.
What idiotic nonsense! I like to see this bozo fall on his face in front of a real orchestra. Of course with "conducting" like that, they'd probably be running for the exits instead of playing their instruments for an imposter like that. Better yet, they'd remain completely silent. An even bigger insult. For satire, I prefer Anna Russell. At least she understands the music.
@OpernDriver It is and Mr. Gould is. (he use to be the principal trumpet of the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra and teaches at Julliard)
Although, I have to say it's very accurate for a lot of conductors I've seen. Many are over paid and think too highly of themselves. The musicians make the real music.
I'm not sure which would have benefitted your career more as we were growing up: horseback riding lessons or hip hop dance, remarkably you appear to be a master of both regardless! Love you bro, sis
I have never been more proud to be coached by Brian McWhorter. Next time I'm in New York or Eugene, I'd like a lesson so as to have Brian, or as I call him, "Master" expound on the intricacies of the Wagner Call. I've always taken that middle section in three and am astonished by the lucidity of his one pattern. Please, will you continue enlightening us, o' Master?
@WoodDuck14 Right, like in the museum, where people stay in awe in front of a red sculpture until a warden comes and tells them that it is a fire extinguisher.
