  • Cthulhu owns u

  • Cthulu's power is over 9000!

  • cthulu's damage and rein of awesome has already begun, look at how hes caused confusion in the world, and even controversy between all of you. :D

  • ok, im freaked the hell out, as soon as the bloop noises started, both my dogs woke up with their hairs standing on end full alert and growling...wtf

  • If you are searching for real spiritual informationNeed to go a little deeper?Unleash your true psychic powers.Enter THE-HIDDEN-SPIRITdotCOM and finally get what you've been looking for.

  • ph'nglui mglw'nafh Cthulhu R'lyeh wgah'nagl fhtagn!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • omg did i do that loud?sorry,1997 was a bad, stressive year for, dont we all wanna scream sometimes?

  • @ktulhu2010 You win the internet.

  • @TheAreyon But that's like saying, just because Harry Potter was in a story doesn't mean he doesn't exist! The difference is that the writers of the Bible were attempting to write a historical account (I myself am an atheist, so I don't believe most things in the Bible, but that doesn't change the fact that Jesus existed) and H.P. Lovecraft wrote his stories knowing and intending for everyone else to know that they were fiction. If that comment was a troll, then I apologize.

  • @Randomidus Read up on the historical Jesus. There is in fact no proof whatsoever, not one bit, that the Jesus of the bible ever roamed the planet. No contemporary accounts were written about him and the first time he sees his name in literature is around 70 years after his legend had past...

  • @Wodey25 I posted this like two months ago, and honestly, I completely forgot what this was even about. I really don't care that much about this argument, so I'm just going to say that I agree with you 100%! :D

  • @Randomidus You Goddamn Right you agree with me, you son of a bitch!!!!!!

  • @Wodey25 DON'T FUCKING CUSS AT ME YOU ASSHOLE!

  • @Randomidus FINE BUT STOP YELLING YOU ATHEIST BIGGOT

  • @Wodey25 I WILL GODDAMMIT! JESUS CHRIST, WHY IS IT SO LOUD IN HERE?!

  • @Wodey25 But honestly, you could say the same thing about almost any other individual who lived during that age. In 2000 years, there will be no proof you or I ever existed. It doesn't mean we didn't.

  • @slightlyoutofreach01 Not really. In that age, there were a few famous writers and historians who took pride in their craft and documented the past and present very well (Pliny, Josephus, Philo, Seneca, Suetonius, Juvenal, Martial, Arrian, Petronius, Dion Prusaeus, Paterculus, Appian, Theon, Phlegon, Persius, Plutarch, Justus, Apollonius, the other Pliny, Tacitus, Quintillian, Lucanus, Epictetus, Ptolemy, Lucian, ... running out of space but 100 others). So that's a flawed argument!

  • @slightlyoutofreach01 Plus the Romans took a census during his supposed life for tax purposes... You know the tax man ain't gonna miss someone, especially the poor they love to exploit (in those days the poor paid 99% of taxes). Ultimately anything written about him came to someone in a dream or was verbally passed down by illiterates. So that doesn't amount to a whole lot of substance, though it's difficult to "prove a negative" (i.e., he not existing), he's not shown to have lived, either.

  • Cthulhu burped. :o]

  • so are you suggesting this could be the sound of cthulhu sleeping?

  • Guys guys.. Cthulu isn't real... You all know he's written in the book the "Necronomicon" Which was a book that was meant for enjoyment purposes only. Anyone who believes Cthulu exists, might as well say Harry Potter exists, or that Luke Skywalker exists. It's just a story, don't take it seriously people.

  • @theloneprotecter 90% of fiction is based of of something that is real, or really happend. It's not all made up stories. Keep in mind good sir. That there were legends that involved people being able to cast spells and magic once apon a time. Just because it's labeled as fiction dosnt mean it really is fiction. There's more to the Necronomicon then you could Ever truly know.

  • @kittybr The necronomicon was a book written for entertainment, not to be followed as fact. H.P. Lovecraft was not prophecing about cthulu, he was writing to entertain. It's like taking any science fiction book and labeling it as fact.

  • @kittybr lol

  • Ph´nglui mglw´nafh Cthulhu R´lyeh wgah´nagl fhtagn (that means "when i wake up, i swear to Azathoth that i will kill you all, with love, Cthulhu"

  • there are recordings of the bloop noise which came from something massive.

  • Weird ass people......

  • It is mother Earth. My people believe the planets speak to one another.

  • Since we all like stupid comments. This aint Cthulhu (who aint real was some idea from some occultist bloke) Its a vast city of super gentle butterfly/squid/jellyfish aliens all getting into a tizz (which aint real eather that just the Abyss). The "Bloop" we hear is the aliens trying to make a giant Mr Wippy (with a flake from coral or something) to offer the world to cool down the world due to global warming. Proberly.

  • Cthulhu is as real as Harry Potter or Wolverine..

  • the only thing i want to exist more than cthulhu is vallhalla =)

  • I hate to burst everypne's proverbial bubble, but squid are unable to vocalize, they have no means of vocalising because they have no vocal chords and no lungs. The only concievable way a squid could make a sound is by scraping it's tooth-covered tongue over it's beaks, and that would just sound like a rather large rasp. This noise must be by an animal with either lungs or airfilled bladders, which means it's either whale or fish.

  • @Piatnitskysaurus Cthulhu isn't a squid. Cthulhu is a Great Old One, a somewhat anthropomorphic being with a squid for a head and fucking wings.

  • @whysoserious645 - I do not believe that the bloop has anything to do with Cthulu, I was simply saying that speculation that the sound is made by a squid is groundless.

  • @whysoserious645 octapoid!

  • seizures!

  • For any of you who don't think this is Cthulhu, I have just one thing to say to you...

What the Bloop do we know? ;)

  • It really frustrates me that we do not know what made the noise. I WANNA KNOW, DAMMIT!

  • @d4rksektor very probably ice calving

  • @chubas41

What is your proof that it is "very probably" ice calving? That is what NOAA initially speculated, but could not prove, and later recanted saying it "could" be biological in origin.

Not saying its definitely not ice calving, it's a possibility (yet one that I would think would have been verified in these last 13 years) but "very probably" would be the incorrect modifier to use, otherwise I stand by:

    It's very probably Cthulhu!!

  • @Lrn2ABC here's the article

    wwwDOTscienceDOTorgDOTau/nova/newscientist/102ns_001DOThtm

"Two researchers had a heated argument about the source of the sound, according to Fox. One maintained it had geological origins like Upsweep, while the other was convinced it was coming from Antarctic ice. They declined to comment for this article, but Fox himself favours the ice hypothesis."

He didn't really say it could be biological, he said that the sound pattern resembles those of some animals

  • Comment removed

  • @chubas41

Your quote isn't even referring to Bloop, it is referring to another unidentified sound called Slowdown.

    Quote:

"Fox's hunch is that the sound nicknamed Bloop is the most likely to come from some sort of animal, because its signature is a rapid variation in frequency similar to that of sounds known to be made by marine beasts. "

Phil Lobel, a marine biologist at Boston University, agrees that Bloop is likely to be biological in origin but he's not keen on the squid idea.

  • nuich bin heute richtig gut bei laune wer will mit mir chatn oder telen

  • It's a bit like watching that movie 'The Signal', isn't it?

  • Hmm, heard "the bloop" at the beggening.

  • 2:29 well that just looks like a screen saver

  • OOHHHH!!! It is a monster!!! A big three-headed monster!!!If you don;t believe me, listen at 5:49

  • SUNN O)))!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • weiiiiiiiiirdddddddd

  • esto es increible! the necronomicon is true!

  • hmm...since its too big to be a whale, maybe it's an entire pod?

  • @retsz Yoo mean like. . . Invasion on the Body Snatchers?

  • Apparently the Bloop was found several times in the summer of 1997, same year as another unidentifies sound called Slow Down which was caught in May 1997. Both sounds caught by the US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. The two sounds came from the same area, the oceans west of Chile in South America. Maybe something moving around there?

  • Cthulhu is rising from the ocean! Hes crawling on the bottom of the sea, awakening in the sunken city of R´lyeh... And we all will be doomed!

Kutulu fhtagn! Please eat me first!

  • The Bloop is perhaps one of the most underrated findings of mankind.

People are just far more interested in finding Bigfoot, Nessie, or Chupacabra, instead of what made this noise. :(

  • Oh god! this is scary!

    Mi sanity !! TOT

  • Were did you find this long audiofile?

I´ve only come across short ones.

  • Try bloopwatch. org/ thebloop.html.

The linked files are about halfway down the page, but you can only play them if you have Quicktime or a similar player installed, which I would imagine you do.

  • Lol I love how fucking close the coordinates are XD

I have a theory, and I'll pitch it once I'm in the science community. Not your giant beast C'thulu, but it's close.

  • interesting, any progress?

  • Welp. I can't find anywhere to submit my little testimony.. Some of my German Ancestors saw a beast when they made their way up the coast. No pictures, but they did mention a large rock MOVING and ramming ships.. Strange Ehh? I won't say what creature, It's not an Octopus, as some are saying.

But it's estimated weight is about Seven Tenths of your "Big Ass Whale" Theory.

    (I'll probably post a video.)

You seem like a big follower, what got you sold on Lovecraft?

  • i have a theory its the leviathin a large invincible beast that lives in the deep killing all who fear it

  • Comment removed

  • Praise him!

  • There's a theory that there are infinite dimensions, meaning that anything can exist, and Cthulhu is meant to be inter-dimensional (though i wouldn't bet money on it, and the theory is still unproved-this was probably just a big ass whale).

  • Do you have an mp3 of the audio for this? I'd love to have it.

  • It depends on what you mean by "Exist." He might be said to exist in the same way Moby Dick did: as an idea. Non-ideas don't exist- they're never given form as thought...

So the idea of him exists at least. Good enough?

  • hey just because cthulhu was in a story doesnt make him fake, look at jesus XD

  • thumbs up.

  • Comment removed

  • Um...The Bible was written by refugee Jews.

Cthulhu was written by a science fiction author from middle America!

  • your point? it was a joke.... oh and the bible was supposedly written by Moses well most of it... though i dont see how he wrote about him self dying

  • @TheAreyon Both are just stories mate.

  • @kerbal666 ive gotten like 30 replies about this comment but i just want to know.. when your wrote your comment did you think i was even close to being serious? XD

  • @TheAreyon you* wrote your

  • @TheAreyon After I wrote it I did notice the "XD".

I am sorry. Im just sick of seeing everybody say this sound is fucking kathululuut..shit

  • @kerbal666 its fine i dont really think hes real i just like the pictures of him and stuff and i could never really get into the books they were kinda boring

  • @TheAreyon i dont get it though, jesus wasnt real?

  • @TheAreyon except jesus is fake.

  • @Slapppppp OH REALLY? I DIDNT KNOW! it was satire

  • @TheAreyon But Jesus is fake.

  • @ScootnAnnihilator

How do you know that? How can you prove that YOU'RE not fake? What does fake mean, anyways? Real, unreal? Nothing is, nothing becomes, nothing is not.

  • @jigaboon I know it's fake and gay like you because I am psychic.

  • @ScootnAnnihilator By psychic do you mean "stupid?" Study some metaphysics, dipshit. You know nothing, nor will you EVER know anything. You can BELIEVE something, but what is true to you is not necessarily true for someone else. Don't bother responding, I won't reply to you again. Or even read it for that matter.

  • @TheAreyon omg so what ?? at least jesus is the fantasy of 13 people cthulu of 1 jeez .. i don denying anything einstein relativity theory and possibilieties theory all show that everything is possible... so what seat and wait for

dark lord cause some junkie crazy motherfucker wrote he exist??

  • @DrPsymotion it was a joke, read the comments and learn how to spell.

  • its the cthulhu barrier. kind of like the shrimp barrier, but only one fucking animal.

  • cthulhu fhtaghn! Ia! Ia! Azi azak! Ia! Ia! Zi azkak! Ia! Ia! Cthulhu zi kur! Ia!

  • Does anyone else think that The Bloop (The realtime version, or as close as you can get to it), sounds like some kind of big-ass whale singing?

    I think it's quite pretty.

My bet's are on a Whale the size of a small island... or Chtulhu can sing. More than likely Chtulhu.

  • I don't know about any of you, but I listened to this bleep like 4 times and must say, it's very medatative. Its relaxing to hear. Whether Cthulhu exists or not, we may never know. But here's a fact: 99 percent of the earth's oceans are still unexplored. Weird things do pop up in nets and on shores once in a while.

  • @sonne5

    Here's another "fact":

84% of all percentages posted on the internet are made up on the spot.

  • @PumpuptheValium It may not be exactly 99 percent, but it's still pretty high. If I'm wrong, why don't you explore all the ocean yourself and prove me wrong?

  • @PumpuptheValium

Here's another fact, 100% of trolls on YouTube attack others just for the sake of a pathetic argument instead of making an honest effort to verify their facts or even the smallest iota of research first.

"Some estimates suggest that as much as 95 percent of the world ocean and 99 percent of the ocean floor are still unexplored."

Source: Ocean Studies Board of the National Academies (site I quote from) Google search "percentage of ocean floor unexplored"

  • @sonne5 you think 99 percent of the oceans haven't been explored? are you a fucking retard? holy shit.

  • @Str8xBallinBaby ......@sonne5 was referring, perhaps, to what is UNDER the surface of the oceans. outbursts like that just make you look ignorant and small-minded, not to mention under-educated and just plain stupid

  • @vinfiend and again, a fucking idiot rears his head. no shit i meant under the surface of the oceans. you think we haven't seen NINETY NINE PERCENT of the ocean floor? you really look ignorant, small mindd, not to mention under educated and just plain stupid.

  • @sonne5 i dont think cthulhu exists, but i think lovecraft understood that the unknown is the absolute greatest form of horror. he knew that the ocean and space were the two most unexplored, deepest, vastest and mysterious planes of existence, so he used both to create his horrific creatures. for all we know, this could be the old ones awaking from their slumber. sorry to reply to something a year old btw.

  • @sonne5 WHere do you get your info...It's stupid to believe that, you must be retard or spend your time at the wikipedia...or maybe both

  • @madatgod3102 So I'm a retard to believe something scientists have said? lol. I'm not going to stoop to your level and call you names. believe what you want, I'll believe what I want. Whether you do or not, it is a FACT that we know more about Mars than the earth's oceans. It is a FACT there are thought-to-be extinct-creatures popping up all the time. I may be stupid and retarded, but at least I'm not ignorant.

  • @sonne5 99 percent? more

  • @sonne5 people tend to be afraid of the unknown worship the unknown and etc so far the only danger was humans too humans

  • @DrPsymotion and bears ... bears are evil ... just ask Stephen.

  • Kraken and the bloop did titanic

  • No, some drunk asshole and a glacier did.

  • This was great but the writing was a little hard to see. xxx

  • thanks for the vid

  • he is sleeping...hrr..hmm..blm....

  • hehehehe......... leave me alone, let me slumber in peace or we start before time...

    :) IAK SAKAK IAK SAKAK

  • 3:15... this is awesome... would make a great CD track.

  • Don't watch while on high Dx

    Ph´nglui mglw´nafh Cthulhu R´lyeh wgah´nagl fhtagn!!!

  • Or after going through a panic situation with your family about ghosts in your house...specially if you're atheist >.>

  • Godzilla!

  • What can I do for you sir?

  • Ph'nglui mglw'nafh C'thulhu R'lyeh wgah'nagl fhtagn........

  • Ia! Ia! Cthulhu Fhtagn!

  • I am officially creeped out. Thanks!

  • dude this was freaky!! ahh the bloop!!

  • This makes me feel relaxed.

  • The Dreamer.. has awoken.

  • Really good stuff!

  • Ia! Ia!

  • Maybe it's Cthulhu farting. :P

  • he will eat and fart you out for that

  • before making any comment whatsoever, i hav a question. is Cthulhu actually based on any kind of reality? Ive spent some time tryin to find that out, and it looks like Cthulhu is purely the offspring of insane and admirable human creativity. As such, u cannot connect the bloop with something so deliciously fictional, self-explanatory as to why. Please feel free to correct me if there is actually some background to Lovecraft's horror god.

  • They say that we are most sensitive to the spirit world/cosmos when we are dreaming. Alot of Lovecrafts creations came from him dreams. It's possible that he couldve tapped into something and Cthulhu and the other Old ones are real. Im not looking for an argument nor am I saying this is fact. All i'm saying is that it's possible. :>

  • Are you seriously asking if Cthulhu is real?

  • Is the Great Pumpkin real? :)

  • you should read the necronomicon it looks like lovecraft use that book as a base

  • The Necronomicon is a work of fiction. Lovecraft admitted that many times. Some confusion was created when a prankster inserted a fake library card into the Yale Library's card catalog and every now and then someone publishes a version filled with old Sumerian mumbo jumbo to make a quick buck off of gullible saps like you.

  • So it seems to me that only gullible saps are capable of appreciating some sarcasm.

  • Lovecraft based his stories of fiction on real documentation, the occult influence is real, I have read his letter to a fried where he explained that he aquired off his Freemason father the remains of an Arabic majikal book featuring what he later wrote about the sumerian you mention was a cash in in the 1980's by an author using the psuadonym "Simon" I have used "Necronomicon" Majick, its NOT to be taken Trivialy.

  • No real connection no.

The main thing about the bloop being connected is that it was monitored at coordinates very close to where Chtulhu was supposedly sleeping.

  • Yeah so everyone, pack your shit . . . Looks like Cthulhu was real . . .

  • The original audio file is available from the NOAA website somewhere, but the version they give you is sped up to hide it's true nature (I believe 16 times normal). For this video they slowed it down so we can hear the actual sound. NOAA bastards.

  • Yeah, I know. Pretty sure they pulled this audio, for the vid, off of another site about the Bloop, though.

  • The sound was sped up so that it could be heard for what it really is. Hearing things underwater is much different than hearing things through air. The 16x version is what the sound really is - a giant "kur-plunk".

  • According to wikipedia, scientists have said that this sound matches the sound profile of a living creature, but if it belonged to an animal it should be much bigger than the blue whale which is the largest animal known on earth.

  • Regardless of whatever made that noise, it is a very cool thing to listen to on Halloween. So spooky and chilling.

  • Lovecraft is a great horror author, but his stories are FICTION,nothing more, nothing less. But the fact that so many people are passionate about the storied he created just shows how great an author he was.

Cthulu as he describes doesn't exist, but that doesn't mean some fucked up shit isn't down there.

  • prove that cthulhu doesnt exist

  • Good use of the elder Gods ;)

  • prove that he does lindyan.......

  • Look up "appeal to ignorance" on Wikipedia.

  • The fact he was created for a fictional story by a horror author. The fact that there has been no evidence of its existence EVER (this cannot count, as it could very easily be anything) With your logic, I could say Jason Vorhees or the Teletubbies exist.

  • Really? I don't think so. I was read every books and story from Lovecraft, and occultic source's what he used is'nt only from his fantasy. For example Necronomicon.

  • alda666.

Having been a student of the occult and lover of Lovrcraft's fiction for years, I can safely tell you that the Necronomicon was created by H.P. Lovecraft. It is FICTIONAL. It first appeared-EVER in history-in his story "The Hound". True practicioners of secret rites DO NOT incorporate H.P. Lovecraft's work.

Why would they need to use a RP'ing copy of the Necronomicon when books like the Abramelin and Lesser Key are readily available?

  • Necronomicon(orig. Al - Azíf)is availaible in British muzeum(translation from 15.century), Bibliothegue Nationale Paris, Widener Harvard Bibliothek(17.c tsln)etc. I have few copy(Simon's, Gregorius etc.) and spellbook from them is imho useless.(i don't try). Abr-n and Solomon's is good, Faust's: Mgia innaturalis and Sigilla is usefull too.

  • EVERY COPY OF THE NECRONOMICON, SUCH AS THE SIMON COPY AND THE GREGORIUS COPY, WAS PRODUCED AFTER H.P. LOVECRAFT CREATED IT FOR HIS STORIES.

Really, you should do more homework before spouting off about it.

Oh, and you shouldn't take Lovecraft stories to heart. There are no copies in the British museum, Bibliotheque National Paris, or the Widener Harvard Bibliothek. Those were story devices used to provide the FICTIONAL background of a FICTIONAL book.

  • That was directed at alda666's reply to me.

  • I trying find more relevant information, and you have right. Probably every copy's of Nn is fake. :(

    Sorry for misslead infos.

  • Can someone please explain why you would meditate on a entity as this one? What is the point? do it bring happines?, money? what are the results??

  • Discovery.

Imagine discovering the biggest creature ever in the world, you'd be instantly famous.

  • Or eaten alive.

  • "I don't believe Cthulhu exists, but maybe it's one of two other fictional underwater monsters."

  • lmfao win

  • actually make that one. ultra large squid may very well be a reality as they have found some much larger than previously though to be possible.

  • But squids don't make that kind of noise. They don't have the right organs to. If it is an animal, it's probably a mammal. o.O

    Scary ass.

  • And probably a mammal bigger than anything ever documented, and that's even scarier.

  • Dasmustafah, you misunderstood me. I'm saying I don't believe there's an old god from when time began in our oceans, but there could be some huge animal we haven't discovered yet.. I'm saying I don't believe that the creature is a god of doom.

  • "I'm saying I don't believe that the creature is a god of doom."

But yes, by all means, perhaps it is the Kraken or the Cloverfield monster ;)

  • Lol, "the cloverfield monster".

  • You're totally misunderstanding his meaning. Yes, you could interpret it to mean that and it does sound funny, but I think what lp234 is saying is that its a big animal of enormous SIZE, LIKE the cloverfield monster. And anyway, you know giant squids? Real. And that's where all the Kraken legends probably come from.

  • Yes, exactly. He wasn't saying that maybe it was the actual Kraken, just that it -isn't- a creature like Cthulhu. He doesn't think it's one sort of undersea monster, but instead offers two other possibilities.

Understand now? Everyone else seems to.

  • a quote from pokemon R/S/E (you unlock the regi caves)-'It sounds as if a door opened somewhere far away'...

  • whoa!

  • did anybody else feel that???
