  • was there ever a love story between them?? and wouldnt that make him a pedophile?

  • How could anybody say NO to THAT???!!!

  • Jareth will forever be my FICTIONAL CRUSH mwah xoxo

  • To think this movie was a commercial failure when it first came out... God, people are dumb.

  • she was nude at age 12.

  • Dude Shes Stupid!Hes Fucken Hot!I Would've choosed Him&Make Babies With Him!:D No-Joke! He is So Hot,Fine,sexy,cute,!<3 He Wil Always Be My Fictional Crush!(:

  • HE'LL BE MY FOREVER FICTIONAL CRUSH.....

I'm not in love with David...but I'm in love with Jareth..!!

  • Okay, so she says "You have no power over me" and you just GIVE UP? No. The correct answer would go as follows:

"You have no power over me."

    "Only what you give me."

  • Is there any more movies like this. Where the evil man is in love with the girl? Like Phantom of the Opera, or something.

  • The way Labyrinth would have ended if I played Sarah Williams

    Goblin King: Just lov-

    Me: Yes!

Goblin King: I was gonna say love me and-

Me: "I will be your slave" Yep I know! I'm down!

Goblin King: Really? I was also gonna say "let me rule you and fear me".

Me: That is so fine I can't even tell you!

Goblin King: Wow okay, I guess your my Queen now.

  • jareth looks a bit like Krad from DN Angel in this scene.

'Fear me, love me, do as I say and I will be your slave'

while thats very romantic, its a bit contradictory

  • She is nutts! He was so sexy in this, if I was in her place I couldn't resist him. Besides come on what was he really interested in turning her into a queen and her little brother into his heir. Seriously? And that t\line oh my god... fear me, love me, do and I say and I will be your slave... yes! yes! yes! and right now please!

  • Best line - "I'm exhausted from living up to your expectations."

  • NOOO!!!! Jareth! Why couldn't she say yes?!

  • @claireabbazia101

She do care for her brother.

  • Anyone else think Jareth sorta represents "God" in this? lol

  • @TheAustinKendall

no he represents the devil aspect that she considerd to let rule her and do things like kill her baby brother as we often do in a rage after a argument. hoggle represented materialism and hoggle childishness or something.

  • @topbluffa Which part of the movie showed her killing her baby brother? Okay to go with the idea that the story is a product of Sarah's imagination:1.Jareth represents her self indulgent nature. He was her villain, she had to defeat him, her childishness, which she was outgrowing. 2.Hoggle is her cowardice that she had to overcome to face obstacles/challenges. 3.Didymus is her loyalty and bravery in the face of adversity. 4.Ludo is her strength.

  • @WillowsIvy

    no no no no.

Jareth was her inner devil that she only entertained allowing to rule her when she was angry about babysitting her little brother but ever since she has been telling she doesnt want to rule her after all. (just like many of us wish our mum was dead half way thru a argument) this is the jareth part of you suggesting he can take over and solve you problems.

Hoggle is a CLEAR representation of her materialism (hence he will do anything for a peice of jewlery) .

  • @topbluffa1

Jareth is somewhat more. He is the Goblin King, a ruler.

It begins with immature Sarah, that prefers living in her fantasies rather than dealing with the troublesome real world. Her baby-brother represents her care, which she offers to the ruler of dreams (the OWL) in order to cremate her disrupting sense of care. To forget she is offered dreams.

In order to reverse this, she needs to fight the Construct, find the inner nature of its control and realize its power is an illusion.

  • @Billos76

Goblin King is another way of Saying Devil and the goblins are demons.

    i think you have misunderstood.

they couldn't get a U rating if he was called the Devil. i cant be botherd to re explain this film to people ive done it so many times on other posts look for those :)

  • @WillowsIvy

the 13th hour on the clock shows this is taking place out of normal space/time and hoggle etc are her little demons that she allows to be in her life at the end she even says "i dont know why i need you but i do" but Jareth was a demon to far that she could only entertain the idea of allowing to be part of her during a big argument but after that she realised he is to much and over the top.

  • @topbluffa1 You definitely have an interesting point of view. I believe agreeing to disagree will be the best course of action in this instance. Lets just leave this with, This is an excellent movie that could house many different interpretations.

  • WHAT ARE YOU DOING!?!?!?! STAY WITH HIM!!!!

I never understood. He wouldn't of had to ask me twice.

  • Screw the baby, stay with Jareth! :D

  • Comment removed

  • Instead, she should have been like "If I can return Toby to my parents...can I come back?"

  • @totaltwinconnection2 Ahaha, then everyone's happy. :'D

  • Completely agree this is the best scene. Especially when she rememberes the line.........You have no power over me oh i love that line. :)

  • yep definatly my fave scene, shes so mean tho :(

  • Yeah...I would not have said no, not to that line

  • I feel so bad for Jareth, he loved Sarah-maybe he didn't know how to love- but Sarah still broke his heart. She could have at least let him down easy. Plus if she did let him rule over her then he wouldn't have loved her because that isn't who she is.

  • Love this

  • FRANKEN MULLET!

  • -looks at bursting tights-

Whoa. Ground control to Major Tom.

  • i loved this movie when i was a kid.... dont remember the storyline anymore

  • I would just say, "Take me in exchange for the baby", since I'm too old to be a goblin...

  • first of all...yes...my journey as ended...the one pice that no one else has posted on facebook....thx u....rnd of all...eew...she's 15!...way to young...& who knows how he really is...there are laws....besides...remember what he said...its idiotic if u believe him...yes he is awesome here but still.....:)..sweet

  • David Bowie plays a peodophile well.

  • jareth looks so sad when she refuses him...personally, i'd say yes but on one condition, give the kid back. then she would've made two good choices

  • LOL at 2:03 he's thinking ''Stupid bitch''

  • thumbs up if grandstorm sent you

  • God.

  • My name is Sara...Every time he says "Fear me, love me, do as I say and I will be your slave." I answer, "Yes!" then sigh because its just a movie. :(

  • Pause At 0:12,

Thumbs Up If You Think That His Pants Are A Lil' To Tight? :L

  • This reminds me of a game show.

Jareth- You gonna go for the big prize or walk away and go back to your stupid boring life.

Sarah- Sorry, but I think I ive gone far enough. Im going to just take what I have and go home.

  • Well, Jareth, asking her to be ruled by you isn't... you know... a little thing XD

But I'm pretty sure we would let you do that any time to us, if we were Sarah! <3

  • 11 people couldn't accept that Sarah and Jareth didn't end up together in the end.

  • @lillian90005 i don't accept it. they r so good together!!

  • Dear god, David looks super sexy in those tights

  • David Bowie's package ~_~

  • I think Jareth was everyone's first fictional crush.

  • @illshagyourhod right!

  • @illshagyourhod i freaking concur!!!!! =]

  • I am so thankful my mom showed this to me when I was younger... she was 8 when this came out and she showed it to me when I was 8 :) it is the most amazing movie ever, and this scene... its just... wow.

  • The ego and soul... battle for power. Nice.

My will as strong as yours. And my kingdom is great... "just love me.. do as i say..."

YOU HAVE NO POWER OVER ME.

    Yes!

  • @cosmicheartcentre I saw it differently, especially since while he's saying it he's pretty much begging - it's clear that despite his words, he's not the one with the upper hand there and never was. But, like other commenters here have said, she was young so she didn't know that. It probably didn't even occur to her that she could've insisted Jareth give her brother back to her parents and let her keep her personal autonomy as well and that he would've said yes rather than not be with her.

  • Comment removed

  • @SnotRockets55 i agree snotrocket55 and love the fact she figures it out in the end with her realisation "you have no power over me" and that you can see she was just too young to know all this to start with... but grows and learns so much from her initiation in the 'universal labrynth'. i also wonder... do you think, if the story continued... that we would see how sara loved jareth too ....and that it could have worked out for them both in the end? :)

  • 2:00....You have no power here Gandalf the Grey XDDDD

  • 1:41 - 1:48 -3

  • I always thought of this scene on like a biblical level. It's like he is trying to get her to sell him her soul, and the one line she can never remember is the one line that breaks the spell. "You have no power over me." The clock strikes 13 and the illusion that is his kingdom comes crashing down...maybe I'm reading too much into it...or am I?? hahaha

  • @diamondog1974 Glad I was not the only one who saw it that way. As seductive and manipulative as the Devil himself. It's almost scary how many people would jump at the opportunity.

  • just a funny thought...these would make good wedding vows for ppl into bdsm?

  • Hes amazing if I was Sarah I would of said yesssss

  • you know he tapped that...just sayin.

  • @wizenhiemr She was sixteen!

  • @crazy4sian actually she was fourteen...lol

  • It surprises me so many comment on this video. Glad I'm not the only thinking she was crazy. Fear me, love me, do as I say and I will be your slave. That line is sexy as hell.

  • @WillowsIvy :I know right xD It gives me Goosbumps<_<

He looks so..Lost while saying itx3

    Poor Jareth<_<

  • @WillowsIvy

you kidding? "HE" is sexy as hell, if only he wasn't either a really old fart or dead now.

  • @ElderRoseThorn He is still around and is still way sexy. And if a man like that said he'd be my slave simply for my love I'd be thrilled.

  • @WillowsIvy

if a man like that said that to me, and meant it, i would gladly give up everything.

for as long as i can remember i have been very depressed,

filled with a very strong sense of longing,

and when i watch and listen to him,

i feel as if my heart is just barely out of reach,

sounds stupid for a girl my age, but, DAMN THE AGE DIFFERENCES!!!!!!

  • @ElderRoseThorn Don't be down, one day you will meet somebody who makes you happy. Even more so if you do what makes you happy you will begin to feel more complete. I used to feel the same way like I was always missing something, it took me awhile to figure out I wasn't living up to my own expectations. I started going after what I wanted in my life and I started to find what I was looking for.

  • you can have the baby, TAKE ME NOW!!!! <3

  • @WillowsIvy agreed.. man i want him haha xD

  • "just let me rule you and u can everything that you want" sold...damn chick! ugh i wouldve said yes!

  • Fear me, Love me, Do as I say and I will be your Slave. My answer: Hell Fucking Yeah!

  • when i was 8 i wanted an owl after this movie ;D

fear me, love me, do as i say.... - ok, YES!!!!

  • i would of stayed with jareth. he will do anything for her,so she could of just asked him to send toby back home and she could of stayed with jareth :)

  • You ever wonder if fimling this was awkward between the two of them? If it was me i'd be all, "umm... i'm sorry. The tights. The tights are distracting."

  • good lord - those trousers....

  • I don't know why but the slow motion walk turns me on

  • He's not pretty exactly, but he's got a vibe around him ^.^

  • I think she was too young to see what he was offering her......

  • But all unrequited love is sad...

  • I love David Bowie and all, but I've never understood how he could be her slave if she has to "do as I say." ;)

  • @crystalfire294 Its a young guy thing....I'll control you, and I'll do what I think is right for you...Hence, I'm your slave

  • @crystalfire294 From my view, was that he is asking her to be his, to love him, to obey him, and in exchange he will be everything she expects of him. Thus the "What have you done that's generous?" "Everything!" exchange. Likely, this is all in her head. You see Bowie in photos with her mom. Sarah expects things of her construct, Jareth. He says "I am exhausted by living up to your expectations of me." He has been bending to her whim without anything in exchange and is frustrated

  • @crystalfire294 Obviously I have spent a LOT of time thinking about this XD

  • Dude! David Bowie looks like/sounds like "The Emperor" from Final Fantasy!

  • @lorgy9 Hehehe. Now that you mention it, they should've cast him as the Emperor. ^^ Heck, Jareth even LOOKS like the Emperor in the Famicom Labyrinth game. XD Although, I wonder if, after all these years, if Bowie'd still be able to convey that same 'Bowie charm' in his voice. X3~

  • Ok can someone explain something to me. How come in this scene all of a sudden Sarah is like super sophisticated speaking wise and all. Did I miss something ?

  • @sohnnysdream She's reciting from the book. That's why she does that "Damn, I can never remember that line" thing. It's because she's actually really reading lines.

  • @sohnnysdream She's acting out her part. If you had practiced the lines all the time in the park you too would sound sophisticated.

  • pretty sure most peoples favorite scene is magic dance

  • when David says fear me, love me and i will be your slave... i would have jumped on him <3

  • kk 0:00- 0:07 = AAAHHHHHH!!!!!

  • <3 OMG This is my favorite of all timessss

  • Hoot Hoot mother F**kers! should have been his last line haha

  • how could she choose the baby over THIS??!!! everytime he says "and I will be your slave"... swoon!! :) lol

  • MMMMMm Fear Me ..... MELT ME!!! t(o,xt)

  • Screw fearing him I'd jump that and have my way with him ;)

  • I've just finished the novelization of Labyrinth and it's every bit as charming as I remember the movie (I haven't seen it since I was a kid). Must watch this again! thanks for uploading this scene it's great :))

  • @Blackbooks78 =O

I've been looking for that! Did you have to pay a lot for it? The lowest price I could find was like 63.00 dollars which I suppose isn't bad since it's out of print or something but still. If you don't mind my asking, how did you obtain yours?? =3

  • @Musiclovr45 Yeah the physical book is now unfortunately astronomically priced as it's quite rare. There is a free pdf version which a fan has faithfully re-typed (good quality) so more people can enjoy it without scouring ebay auctions for the book. I downloaded the fan made pdf, converted it to a .mobi file and read it on my kindle :)

  • @Blackbooks78 SO sorry for the late reply but thank you for your speedy one! I truly appreciate it and now I have another reason why I need to finally get a kindle. ^-^

  • @Blackbooks78 What's the link where the PDF file is? :D

  • @afong10 If you google--- "4shared labyrinth smith" --- you should find a few versions :)

  • @KiriAeroTyler You know that her brother's name is Toby ;)

  • Wait if he is saying "Just fear me, love me, do as i say, and i will be your slave." isnt he kind of asking for you to be his slave too?

Either way i still like the movie

  • Jareth: (on my computer) "Just fear me, love me, do as I say and I will be your slave."

Me: -reaches out to computer monitor- "TAKE ME!"

  • Somehow Jareth wearing his feathered cloak makes it seem like he has foreseen his doom already and is prepping to morph into an owl.

  • *fans self* Oh dear lord. WHY WOULD SHE SAY NO TO THAT!

  • Ok, how did they get away with that back then. So many films where there is a grown man or woman, talking like that to a minor. Haha god ya wud get strung up for that scene nowadays.

  • @natelaaly21 Because the 80's kicked ass and it was so much more fun when people made twisted movies like this. :P

  • in truth, jareth did do alot.... and sarah was annoying, but he was still an ass.

A sexy ass, but still an ass

  • Look at that crotch..!! any1 know where i can watch this in full..??? oh the childhood memories.!

  • @TheCherylLouise

Netflix has it on instant :D

  • it's called david bowie's package...not labyrinth...lol

Plus, she can "never remember that line"

  • the thing about jennifur connely is still pretty!!! I loved this movie back then I'm so glad my mom got movies like these back then:)!!!!

  • It's right it's a girl. a mother or sister seeking freedom for her child or brother.

  • What kind of idiot says no to him? :P

  • it didn't seem to me that Sarah loved her brother.

  • @BibleJoker2Face

That's not fair, all of that was done for him. The Goblin has no right, and neither did she to give her brother away in the first place. Still a great film

  • @099749, please elaborate. it's been several years since i saw the movie.

  • @BibleJoker2Face

That she did all of that because she loved her brother and did not give up on him. As many that go through crap do. although it is also true that she had no right to give her brother away, which is a flaw in the story but one that makes sense the goblin king just tries to take advantage, where you see all the golbins of child stolen are in that position because they have bought the golbin kings lie, and really all they need to do is see that truth.

    His power is from them.

  • @099749 read the manga you will understand the story a bit better

  • @TRIGER517

Read the manga? This story was written by one of the members of Monty Python. Why would I want to read a japaness comicbook spin off?

  • @BibleJoker2Face Sarah was frustrated, in a background story her mother left (or died) and this new woman who doesn't see eye to eye with her fantasy based nature comes in. Then the family began to expand and she was starting to feel left out. She felt like all she was good for to them was chores (babysitting). It was never Toby she hated but the life she had no control over. Besides she had plenty of chances to quit the quest and she continued because deep down she did love Toby.

  • @Blazenix1, how was it shown that she loved him (aside from journeying to get him back; please also point me to any scene in the movie that shows that she did love him).

  • @BibleJoker2Face The scene where she was given the choice between him or the crystal, she choose her brother and was sad at the fact he might be scared. When she heard him crying in the labyrinth she looked worried and was even more determined to get him. She was concerned about him when he went to the upside down staircase part seeing him on the ceiling. And at the very last scene she gave him her toy which started her rage at him in the first place.

  • @BibleJoker2Face Plus during the Junkyard Lady scene, when she remember her brother she cared more about him and getting him back rather than getting all her toys and things she previously valued.

  • @Blazenix1, please tell me at exactly what point in the movie these scenes occur.

  • @Blazenix1, if you can, you can also send me the scenes via YouTube (ie. sharing a video).

  • @BibleJoker2Face I would but I don't have the film on my computer I only have it on video, but you may find the entire movie lurking on the internet somewhere.

  • @Blazenix1, merci (ie. that's French for "Thank you.")

  • I love the "You covered before me, I WAS frightening!" What an obliging man. hehe

  • This scene was good although I think she might have skipped a line from the book

Also everyone, the goblin king isn't a gracious loser. The story continued in a manga with Sarah being a shell of her former self(not spoiling anything here so you have to read the book for more info, although I'll say she has become, for a lack of a better word,'boring'!)

Not to mention that in the end, Sarah still has her friends at the end of the movie so she didn't REALLY lose out on anything…

  • Monologued to death...

  • Great scene, but they should have got together in the end- him king her his queen ahh :) xx

  • @Mo1604 She was 15!!

  • STUPID GIRL!!!! IF YOU DON'T WANT JARETH I DO!!!

  • Just let me rule you ... Just love me, fear me, do as I say, and I will be your slave! yeah thumbs up on that line by god

  • sarah is a ideot she wants to go back with the brat and the bitchy step mom

  • What a dumb bitch. Bowie offered her to be her slave and she disses him. Really, Sarah? Go back home with your brat and shit life.

  • Please take note that Sarah's dreams in the crystal ball... were of Jareth. Didn't you see him in there?

  • in this era where all hollywood is doing is remakes/sequels of movies... how in the heck has a sequel to THIS not been made? THE FANS WANT IT! come ON hollywood! she's no longer 15! get this made! :-D Jareth & Sarah FTW! ;)

  • @theheatherphillips sooooo right there lol i have thought about that aswell lol

  • Is everyone really so blinded by his good loks ?As tempting and enticing as the offer may be, this is a trap no matter how you look at it.

"I ask for so little. Just let me rule you and you can everything that you want. Fear me, love me, do as I say and I will forever be your slave."

I can see the devil saying the same thing: "I ask for so little. Just give me your soul and you can have everything you want."

  • @crazy4sian Just let me rule you and you can everything that you want. Fear me, love me, do as I say and I will be your slave. = Sarah will be Jareth's "slave" and He will be Her "slave". They would be equals. We like to believe it that way. - Because he is sexy ;)

  • @PurpleEster Yet he still has power over her. How can they be equal?

  • @crazy4sian The way I see it is that Sarah would hold as much power over him as He would over Her, since being someone's slave means you'd have to everything your asked to. So, Jareth would have to do what sarah wanted and the other way around. Equals.

Did I mention how sexy He is?

  • @PurpleEster Yet he is the one setting the terms of the deal and getting her to act. And when has he ever been one to keep his word? His first impression on her was throwing a snake in her face, threw her in a dungeon, shortened her deadline to save her brother, d*mn near almost KILLED her with the Cleaner, and trapped her in a hallucination.

I mean, as sexy as he is, he is still a giant douche.

  • @crazy4sian Well, She asked him to take the baby in th first place... That makes her a bad sister/babysitter who needed to learn a lesson. Besides it was an OUBLIETTE and shes the one who fell right into it. I think The Cleaner was only supposed to scare her, but thats my interpretation. The hallucination wasn't even that bad, just another obstacle on her way, like all the others mentioned. He made Her grow up and take responsibility. I also think that Sarah's journey was all Her imagination.

  • @PurpleEster ... Which means that Sarah created Jareth in Her mind, because she wanted someone to care for Her & want Her (teens..). Labyrinth & Jareth were Her way of proving herself worthy and becoming an adult.

This is really what makes Labyrinth such a good film. Everyone can decide what it's all about and have their own interpretations. This is my way of seeing it, and you have your way, though I most certainly disagree with you ;). This is an interesting conversation, isn't it?

  • @crazy4sian I think his love is genuine, such as it is, but I tend to agree with you that he doesn't do a good job showing it. I agree with all your sentiments above--he did nothing to convince her he cared for her, and I also don't see that Sarah loves him enough to warrant fanfic romance. Attraction is not the same as love, and Sarah is just not feeling it. Sad that she never got to see his fun, playful side--i.e. dancing around and singing just to keep her baby brother from crying.

  • Oh my god okay I just now figured this out but that is HER catching the bubble at the end! She totally wanted to stay!

  • Give me the child..

    Wow.. various meaning lol

  • If David Bowie was in front of me offering to be my slave there is no way on this Earth I could say no.

  • That was the most intense 2:24 OF MY LIFE.

  • you have no power over me... and i will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger, those who would tempt to poison and destroy my brothers! and you will know my name is the lord, when i lay my vengeance upon thee.

    --Fix'd

  • I love the fact that they knew that the tight pants would sell. Cheeky bastards.

  • I WISH HE WOULD BE MY SLAVEE♥

  • the baby is kept in his pants- at the front- righhhht at the front- OH and the crystal- oh and his picnic

  • I couldn't help but stare at the "bulge". If it were me there I would've just yelled TAKE ME WITH YOU

  • it's just my option but i think that ''fear me, love, do as i say and i'll be your slave'' is seriously one of the romantic sentence in movies. Well.... at least that is much more better than twilight's ''and lion fell for a lamb'' or something like that sentence. Seriously, sorry for bad english
