  • I loved this movie so much <3 I watched it by myself at home one night, thinking it would be more campy than scary. I was pleasantly and horribly mistaken xD The remake made me want to cry :/

  • I love how many times they use the word 'hysteria' in this movie. Everytime somebody screams or is frightened, they are suffering from 'hysteria'. A camp classic.

  • This movie is only scary if you watch at night and very interesting

  • he's the best no joke!

  • mi comentario y mi sugerencia es DONDE PUTAS LA ENCUENTRO EN ESPAÑOOOOOOOOOLLL??????? acaso los latinos no somos fans???

  • dont trytoescapeyoucant

  • Great movie. The remake was so over the top CGI it was just silly.

  • They used to play this every year on T.V. when I was kid along with "The Crabs." We were absolutely terrified!

  • i remember watching this i was 7 year old and i couldn't spot laughing >_<"

  • I'm gonna name my son after Vincent Price when I have a child

  • house of the horroer

  • I liked the new one better. This was too cheesy for my liking.

  • Happy Halloween!

  • Absolute classic this, I have always loved Vincent Price pictures.

  • I love old horror movies but the new ones are just crap

  • The Classic Horror Campaign is screening this at the Komedia in Brighton on Sunday 21st August 2011 alongside Asylum (1972) starring Peter Cushing!

  • the theatrical screaming seems over the top now lol

  • I saw this movie when I was a kid and it scared the crap outta me. The old lady floating across the room .. Ehhh

  • @iceblue4u

That was the best part of the whole movie! Lol! I laughed so hard when I thought I saw a snarling possum wearing a wig, then laughed even louder when she glided. XD

  • Vincent Price = Adrew Ryan :D

  • the floating woman scared the jeepers out of me

  • @rct3crazy100 I think she was hanging rather than floating...

  • I am glad to live in the 21st century. I mean, sure, these vintage films do have something about them. But hey, who would actually get scared from such a crappy looking stop motion skelleton? Such a film would provoke nothing but amusement about the primitive tricks nowadays. I really do prefer the 1999 version...

  • Richard Long was one of the best actors

  • Just wanted to let you know that I used this video in my review for the film. Thanks!

  • aaaawww the little coffins are cute :p

  • The good old times, when people still knew how to sream properly :>

  • Horror novel see video book trailer

  • I'll never get enough of hearing Vincent Price pronounces the word "Blood"

I like his voice and his accent! Historic movie!!!!

  • i love the screams in horror movies back then

  • I think id rather stay at a cheap motel..lol...Looks very spooky

  • This is one of the best in the genre. I can't believe they remade it and that most people only know of the new one. SICK STUFF

  • love it xD

  • I love it--so 50's campy!

  • Lance Schroeder (RICHARD LONG) was sooooo fine....

  • I am proud to say that this is basically my childhood :)

  • Vincent Price Has Absolutely The BEST Horror Flick Voice Ever!!!!

  • i always wanted to bang Vincent Price's wife in the movie when she had on that flimsy nightgown and looked so vulnerable just before "dropping acid". I'd have taken her away for a 1/2 hour and then brought her back to drop.

  • @TheIrishtiger17 you still van, shes actually still alive. :D

  • I love Vincent Price I can listen to his voice all day<3

  • Who keeps a pit of acid in there wine cellar LOL.

  • Skeleton is the most important member of the cast, playing as himself!!

  • Vincent Price is the shiznat

  • 01:39 is shitty

  • 1:38 i bet all the women lost their voices at least once haha

  • I shiver and shake! Waaaaaahhh it's so damn fcking funny! I think I can't sleep anymore,

Cause I can't stop laughing xD

  • This one was Vincent Price's ultimate day out! He was such an elegant and dastardly villian...always two steps ahead of everyone else, always with an alibi.

This movie showcases the power of William Castle and Vincent Price in one unstoppable movie, that speaks murder mystery while it screams 100% horror. One of the best movies ever!

  • @MsCoolguy101 yeah. i'm way too desensitized for this...haha

  • lmao

  • if ur a dude, click on 00:28 over and over again... if ur a dude

  • @rock2metal666 .....LMAO!!!! I thought the same thing!!!! Guess I'm not the only twisted mind here!

  • @rock2metal666 Splendid! LMAO!

  • @rock2metal666 hahaha u need a life but funny

  • @rock2metal666 u know u're a closet homo

  • @rock2metal666

    hahahahahaha awesome dude thumbs Up

  • @cupich82 is he talking about the girl moaning? or the cut off head?

  • @rock2metal666 to see the carolyn craig moan or to see the cut off head?

  • @onlyone23km whatever turns you on

  • Vincent Price is Priceless! Ultimate Mystery Man Himself!

  • Why do I get horny watching this?

  • This goes all the way through the end of campy and emerges back in creepy.

Except for this line: "You'll see human heads without bodies!"

As opposed to human heads with bodies, which is not so scary.

  • lol i own this movie.. got it from tiger direct.. figures right that its from tiger direct.

  • LOL i own this movie its from tiger direct.. figures right.. tiger direct quality movie.

  • @MsCoolguy101 yeah but u have to admit....actresses were more brilliant back in the day with there bloodcurdling screams!!

  • Richard Long, Elisha Cook great actors, This is what I watched as teenager

  • this is the funnest trailer I've ever seen their fear is so exagerated-priceless

  • oh my god, the screaming. killed. my. ears. i now have inner ear problems.

  • @PianoFanatic1989 LMAO!!! "Hurry you'll be late for your own funeral." Vincent Price is so cool!

  • ...and then a skeleton popped out!

  • that walking skeleton made me giggle a bit

  • ok did anyone get reminded of the movie Clue when watching this movie? or rather the other way around? we watched clue and this movie pretty soon after the other and i just realized that both movies are very similiar. a group of ppl trapped in a house trying to discover whos behind a murder. only difference is this was horror while the other was mainly a comedy.

  • juat watched this on my ol' video tape, man this is such a great fun scary movie! its creepy in that old fashioned non-bloody way that you can watch with your kids. aah how i long for a time when movies were still fun and innocent and werent disturbing or bloody/gory.

  • I absolutely love the old horror movies and these new ones can't compare to them. I've never been much of a horror fan until I wanted my first old horror movie not long ago. Now, I'm hooked on them. ^^ This is one of the best horror movies out there. It's one of my favorites. ^^

  • @friendofgaara Hah, Same here! Well, by the way! another great horror classic you should look up "the devil's bride" or under another title "the devil rides out" starring the Horror icon and movie legend Sir Christopher lee. Which you might recognise for his role in Lord of the rings as saruman or in his old films as the prince of darkness! (dracula) xD

  • @sylarfan1 Christopher Lee is a wonderful actor! ^^ Thank you for letting me know about that movie. I will definatly look it up. Thanks again. ^^

  • Whether or not you're a film purist or a remake fan, the '99 vers is much more scary. The visual effects like the creepy-walking doctors and nurses still freak me out

  • @lancerEvolved i actually thought this was creepier cuz you cuz the effects werent so in your face fake. it was a clear case of less is more (scarier)

  • To me its funny how they(The Girls) see something coming and scream for like 5minutes stright. LOL *.*

  • didnt they make a remake of this movie?

  • @mermaid12345678910 yep, in 1999, but the first is better bc of the just classic horror, used by mind and not computer

  • Ever since my brother and I saw this film as kids, it's always had a special place in our hearts, lol. Even now we still like to rehash our favorite scenes from it!

  • hell, if we could make scary movies NOW like the did THEN, the world would be just that musch less crappy

  • im watchis right now ha :D

  • @Blackjesus3 That is wild and his voice is just the right fit for the movie

  • @Terryfan yeeeeee its amazing

  • @Blackjesus3 His voice was made for horror movies

  • @Terryfan ye it really was

  • @Blackjesus3 It sure send chills up your spine

  • @Terryfan oh yes :D

  • @Blackjesus3 Yeah and if anyone said they are not scare they are lying through their teeth

  • @Terryfan oh yes

  • @Blackjesus3 Yup Liar Liar Pants on fire if they ain't scared

  • hehehehe the walking skeleton! I love old films!! :0)

  • I just finished watching this. At midnight. O.O Vincent Price creeps me out every time I see him in something, but I just love him. He's so cool! And his voice... It gives me chills. :P

  • I saw this in the theater when it first came out. It must have come out in the winter, because I distinctly remember pulling the hood of my coat up so I could turn my head sideways and not see the parts that were just too scary to watch.

For any kid living in the 50's this was over the top. Anyone dissing this flick by comparing it to today has no appreciation for history, and your films will be trashed by your future counterparts. This was the best that the technology allowed at the time.

  • @urbanlegend777 I am 20 years old and still cannot find a flick that has scared so much like this one. I can remember being at my fathers house and watching this film (well over ten years ago) and having to watch the movie in parts because it haunted me so much. Vincent Price did an excellent job with his role in the film.

  • @MsCoolguy101 who hasnt? how old are you?

  • @MsCoolguy101 you like heavy metal sellers? hardcore drugs and hardcore porn also?

  • i am thinking about rent this is it any good

  • @springmist775 its from the 50s, no point renting.

  • There will be food, drinks and...ghosts and perhaps a few murders. >D

  • @MsCoolguy101 lol :)

  • @MsCoolguy101 hahaha. awesome awesome :) just dont force them to much lol :P

  • @MsCoolguy101 haha thats awesome. kinda scary to me :P

  • @MsCoolguy101 haha yes i have. i see you like scary movies huh?

  • @Aure88330 dont have to like scary movies to have heard of a nightmare on elm street

  • i lovee this movie so much!

  • @MsCoolguy101 haha. no problem :)

  • fuck CaronteEmpire...

you shouldnt listen to that retard

  • same insults?? cuz u said the same thing to MsCoolguy101...

  • people were more stupid back then...

cavemen played with rocks... we play with technology

  • omg theres a scary dancing skelton lol

the remake of this in 1999 is way better and scarrier

  • Rozumiem że to klasyka itp. ale nieźle się uśmiałem kiedy oglądałem ten film

  • @austinsonic No. It actually isn't. And it falls apart at the end.

  • Man now those women had some lungs on them

  • @gaiusscipio I agree hahha!

  • hardly can be...

  • This classic will lead off the 2010 season of Lord Blood-Rah's Nerve Wrackin' Theatre at the Chouinard Winery in Castro Valley, Ca! Great Price performance and pure William Castle gold!

  • I can deal with remakes every now and then if their done well, but the 1999 remake did NOT give this movie the credit it deserved. I mean okay I felt the ending of this movie was a little silly, but the whole idea was that you never really knew if the house was really haunted or not. It uses characters and suspense perfectly. The remake had generally the same story, but most of the acting isn't good and it relies on effects. Vincent Price was AMAZING in this. R.I.P. man!

  • from what i saw of the '99 remake, it stunk....

  • The ending of the original film worked

out nicely due in no small part to William Castle's uncanny ability to marry fright with fun. Castle gave you enough humor to relieve the tension, but then it was back to business, and like many of you, I have always wondered to this day if the house was haunted or not.

And yes, Price was amazing, this was his day out and he took advantage of it to the hilt!

  • EXACTLY! The whole point of the ending was that we never knew if the house was haunted or not! That built the mystery and suspense all the more. See I could have dealt with the remakes change t actually make it haunted for real, but they just didn't handle it that great to me at least. It's like "oh last 5 minutes and we gotta kill everyone left in that time and yet too people survive". Plus that guy who said it was convinced me more than the remakes one. This is a true classic.

  • you know that's true....they never did resolve whether the house was genuinely haunted....I know the house they used for outside shots is still there and was designed by frederick lloyd wright....

  • Just saw this last night!!! It was a GREAT movie!!! It actually made me scream!!! OMG!

  • Love this film - it isn't that *good*, objectively speaking, but it's a lark. This trailer, tho, is almost better. Certainly would have made me go to see it.

  • Man these old trailers are much better than some of these current horror movie trailers..They knew how to make horror..

  • at 0:46 the girl hanging......creepy

  • 10 minutes later carol Ohmart is still screaming at the fake skeleton.

  • Price was a great actor. I bet every party he had was a THRILLER!

  • did u use the word thriller becuase he was the one in michael jacksons thriller lol

    ur cute

  • yep, now ya got me blushing.

  • LOL these trailers weren't shit back then!

  • Vincent Price's wife in this movie was my first crush. She was much, much easier to look at than the caretaker's wife!

  • Just to let you know, Carol Ohmart is still alive..

  • yes, she is...as a matter of fact, they've released a 50th anniversary dvd edition of this movie that contains an interview with her....

  • Yeah Carol Ohmart was hot, in fact

she looked like one of my fave 50's era strippers, the lovely Virginia "Ding Dong" Bell.

That said, the only thing Carol Ohmart was missing was a natural 46 EEE rack, (yes you heard right) which Miss Bell easily shouldered thru a series of small loops which showcased her natural assets, lol

Either way they don't make em' like these women anymore, that's for sure!

  • depends on where you look...hehe

  • @Robo1415

    True, true. But there's something

about the women of yesterday (the natural breasts, the garters and lace) that seriously outclasses the women of today.

Sure there are nice looking ladies today, but there was a wholesomeness to the retro women, even if they were naughty as hell, and it just makes you wish you could go back in time..

  • True...many celebrity women today need to be washed with a barrel of lysol before you allow them to sit down......

  • @Robo1415

    Starting with Madonna, and including

but not limited to Jeanine Garofalo, the tattooed hippie skank herself.

Only thing is I don't think there's even enough Lysol to go around for Madonna alone...

  • haha.....Madonna has a nice body,but that is it...Garofalo is repulsive...

  • @Robo1415

Yeah, Garofalo is a beast...I love how she was on Keith Olbermann, slamming the "Obama-care" protestors and all the names and accusations she lodged.

Coming from HER, with her expertise

in drugs, mental illness, low self esteem and self-loathing, AND her constant America hating and resulting scapegoating, it just makes you wanna' laugh..

  • I can't stand that idiot....and she is given WAY too much time on tv.....she's just a washed up actress....

  • @Robo1415

Yeah...well she'll make a career for herself, getting passed back and forth between left-wing elitists like Chris Matthews, Keith Olbermann and Bill Maher.

As to her being washed up, I'm not so sure. I mean if you're washed in any way that means you need to take a bath, right? A bath looks like the farthest thing from HER personal agenda... ;-)

  • Yea,she probably will....pretty exciting what's going on in Massachusetts....that's what I call democracy in action...hehe

  • Sure is, and the fact that the Dem candidate insulted the Boston Red Sox, and called her opponent a Yankees fan isn't doing her any favors, lol

Even in politics you don't insult the hometown team. No wonder she's trailing by 6 points..

I think now that true Democracy is in action, and the people have reminded the policitians on both sides as to who really hired who, yes this will be interesting.

  • The whole thing is inspiring and shows how an engaged and enraged people can bring about "hope and change"(though not the same that some elitists want).....

  • Right on. Too bad Vincent Price didn't stick around long enough to invite the elitists to Haunted Hill.

There again, one night of the bickering between both parties would be enough to make the ghosts pack up and leave for another house, lol

Anyhoo, this is about House On Haunted Hill, not the house on Capitol Hill, so maybe we should stick to the subject out of fairness to the others.

Thanks for a great and fun filled talk though, and drop me a line any old time.

    See ya' :-)

  • Yea,you're right.....I wish they made more spooky movies like Haunted.....A really good spooky tv show is The Haunted, but those are allegedly true stories...will do...

  • True, I wish they had more old fashioned movies on TV.

One I particularly loved was from 1973, called "Don't Be Afraid Of The Dark." A made for TV movie about an old house and a dark secret that comes with it.

    Are you familiar with it?

  • I may have seen that movie....was that a movie of the week from ABC?They use to have great 90 minute movies every tuesday night...

  • It premeired on Saturday night in 1973 if I remember right.

I din't sleep very well that night. There's some clips here at Youtube and they might refresh your memory.

Yeah totally agree-great 90 minute movies on prime-time just don't exist anymore, not even on cable.

  • ABC Movies of the week use to deal with the supernatural and horror in a way that emphasized characterization and atmosphere...they didn't rely so much on special effects...I'll have to check it out...

  • Very true points about the emphasis on characterization and atmosphere.

Movies like "Trilogy Of Terror" and " The Initiation Of Sarah" were examples of just the thing you described.

Character acting was paramount to ABC's movies and everything played out until the last minute when the horror hit the fan, so to speak. But yes, check out Don't Be Afraid Of The Dark, you'll be glad you did!

  • I was born in that Year, and first saw this Movie in 1965, or so. I tell you, Remember the Witch on wheels, or the Lady hanging in the stairwell? I could Never forget that Skeleton coming out of the Acid Bath . I had nightmares, and Fear of the Dark for years. Still scares me now thinking about it. Vincent Price is the Best.

  • Vincent Price ... I saw many movies in my adolescence, I have 54 years of age, films Vincent Price and I would miss watching ... good video 5 stars *****

  • Brilliant movie. A masterpiece

  • 0:37 someone is getting DESTROYED!!!

  • Ha! I know! I was even hoping they didn't show it! That scene scarred me for life!

  • HOUSE ON HAUNTED FILM another gem from 1959, PRICE is superb. this horror film histiorian loves this film as he did in 59 i have it in dvd. hokey matybe but full of fun excitement, Bill Castle was a delight. Price is having time of his life. UI knew mr Price, he simply enjoyed the fun of being in it. I could watch this weekly and never grow tire. what a cast, its even colorizsed now but ill take it as it was. HOHH is a must. view it and enjoy it. I know my films. Thanks. TOMK

  • I saw this in the theater. When the skeleton comes at the lady they had a real skeleton that came out over the audience on a wire. It was a gimmick (to battle loss of crowds to tv) and they called it "emergo." A little like what they did in another vincent movie called "the tingler."

  • It does look creepy. I love vincent price. Hes soo cool and his voice is awesome!

  • Fav movie of all time. No joke. Watched it so many times.

  • Vincent Price in great new bio (Charlton Heston: An Incredible Life: Revised Edition) at amazon!

  • did you see my comment about the rap I was about to do? Do you think it's a bad idea?

  • I think it was the last laydee that did it for me to buy this film! Marvelous!!

  • great movie!! i wish it was based on a true story!! haha just kiddidng
