  • Happy childhood memories

  • It really sounds like they're singing "Supercake"

  • People can hace nostalgia for even the most pungent piece of shit.

  • @whatthemeh Yea, this looks pretty nasty like.

  • HEY THEY RIPPED OFF TACO MAN PLAYS A VIDEO GAME THEME SONG DERP RAGE!

  • Super gay fun,lawl.

  • i did not kno saban did this show.

  • MMMMMMMMMONKEY MMMMMMMMMUSCLE

  • These look fucking awful.

  • lmao! sounds like it says super gay time

  • @animeswitch That is waht they're singing. Gay as in happy

  • This looks sort of cool, but not worth it. I think that there is such thing as good old cartoons, but I think that some of us are too blinded by nostalgia to realize that not all cartoons back then were good.

  • WHAT A FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF ONEY!!!!!!!

  • I think chris Onel and Egoraptor both have a like battles for all the fucked up video's.

  • Did they say have a super gay time?

  • Please dont mention "OneyNG liked this" because half of us know you just want thumbs and the other half are just as stupid as the guy who wrote the comment.

So here i already did it.

  • I hate my generation, I wanna go in the 80's. REAL music, REAL MTV, REAL television Saturday cartoons (none of this bullshit we have nowadays), and REAL fun! R.I.P.

-Sincerely, an 18 year old girl who knows better

  • dear sweet merciful jesus I have to find some episodes of this

  • gay fun!

  • GOD DAME U SAM T !!!!

  • Taco-man theme song?

  • It's super gay time, so let's have some super gay fun!

  • oney...

  • lol monkey muscle! :D

  • OneyNG! :D

  • Oney. What the fuck?

  • Oh Oney....

  • supa gay tyme

  • Is this where the Taco-Man plays a video game theme came from?

  • Oney you Fookin fuget.

  • Ah the good old days. Back when Ruby Spears was a common name. It's too bad they didn't make cartoons off of the games Berzerk or Defender.

  • Oh the memories.

  • the cartoons are shit

  • it`s super gay time!

  • "if you call that fun...."

  • i want Saturday SuperCade to be brought back with new episodes from segments of "My Secret World" and "Tekken" as well as re-runs of "Kangaroo" and "Space Ace".

  • @befron2044 I wish CBS would look back @ 1983 and bring back the show.

  • "MONKEY MUSCLE!"...because "PUPPY POWER!" wasn't annoying enough. When that "I hanker for a hunka cheese" PSA came on during the commercials, someone should've told him "you ain't seen nothin' yet!"

  • Warner Brothers owns them. They were purchased along with Hanna-Barbera by Turner in the late 80s.

  • I wonder whatever happened to RUBY-SPEARS ENTERPRISES.

  • Why did they all stop doing Saturday morning cartoons? I remembered getting up at 7 am & watched all my favorites till 11 am... then we'd have our afternoon excercises outside. My kids would of loved saturday morning cartoons like I have.

  • Every few weeks, I torture myself by watching all of these old videos from my childhood on youtube. Now, I'm depressed. I'm only 35 but I feel like an old man, now!

  • Personally speaking, I'm glad we had Swap Shop, Saturday Superstore et al, and TISWAS over here in the UK.

We'd take some of this stuff - but my God.. there was some risible crap being produced! I think PacMan was the worst one we got over here...

Of course - we had Dangermouse, Duckula, Terrahawks, the old Warner theatrical shorts uncut... a whole shitload of British content - mostly funded by Thames or the BBC...

  • am I the only one that thinks supercade sounds like super gay?

  • Thanx so much for informing me that the name is Space Ace, that was one of those brutal brain teasers. One last question though, where would I direct my emails requesting the entire Sarurday Supercade line-up being released as is on DVD? Thanx.

  • Man, I wish they still made a bunch of cartoons based on video games like this...

  • Hmm. The only ones I have actual memories of are Qbert and Frogger.

  • what was the cartoon where he (the main character) was either a really wimpy geek or a dashing hero type and he had no control over when the transformation occured. hence hijinks. I think it was set in space.

  • @londongravy That was Space Ace, which aired in Supercade's second season. He was the heroic title character who got zapped by an experimental Infanto Ray, causing him to change into the wimpy Dexter at inopportune moments. His sidekick was Officer Kimberly, who was voiced by Nancy Carthwright, who of course is most famous for Bart Simpson.

  • @londongravy Space Ace. That debuted in the second and final season of this show. It was based on a video game, made by the same folks who made "Dragon's Lair".

  • Why was DK Jr Scrappy Doo? That's not cool, man.

  • So THAYS where Tacoman gets his theme from....

  • WOW... talk about taking me back, dam I was 9 years old... now im just OLD...GREAT CARTOONS..

  • My favourite theme is the supercade theme, but for the individual themes, it has to be Q*Bert. That music is just awesome, and the show was actually very entertaining too. Donkey Kong was okay, but Peter Cullen (even though I love and respect the guy and his work) makes a crap Mario... Frogger's theme is pretty bad, but the show was decent enough. Haven't seen Pitfall, and DK Jr was okay too. I'd love to see more full episodes of this show.

  • I THINK IM GONNA GRAB ME A BOWL OF CEREAL AND WATCH IT AGAIN AND AGAIN!!

  • Imagine if this show came out today, what games would they feature?

They probably have Halo, Gears, Tekken and, what else?

  • They cancelled Junior, for the next season. They should've done a cross-over, with his Dad and Mario.

  • What the Hell could Q-Bert possibly be about? lol

  • q-bert needs his nose washed out w soap! such language!

  • Classic case in the early 90's FCC determined that companies were influencing children through their marketing on Saturday cartoons, as well as there should be a degree on educational programming and less animation violence. Goodbye GI Joe, goodbye Spidey and his Amazing Friends, goodbye Wile E Coyote falling off the cliff and crawling out of the hole. A true shame.

  • @jlwebbaw and it only took the FCC a few decades to figure that out. On the bright side I'm not eating sugary cereals anymore so I guess it was fortunate. Thanks heavens we still have a few scattered gems left such as Southpark, Family Guy, Futurama, Simpsons, Cleveland Show, American Dad. One could only hope the FCC would lighten up and put some prime time cartoon shows on a Saturday Morning schedule again. Perhaps in the next 70s and 80s decade we do it all over again :)

  • Saturday Supercade is possibly coming to DVD in 2011.

  • Look at the animation of these cartoons and then look at most of the trash being slopped out today. Make the comparison. I'll be here to comfort the youngsters who missed out on these classics.

  • What a classic

  • I remember this song like it was yesturday. Do kids even watch cartoon's on Saturday morning with a big bowl of soggy serial anymore like I used to?

  • if I had the chance to choose between a million dollars or going back to the 80's I would deffenetly pick the 80's I hate this decade!! all this reality bullshit pansy ass mamas boys and what not, long live the 80's!!!!!!!!

  • @rcfreak35 I TOTALLY agree! For me, it would be the '70's AND the '80's! There is WAY to much of NO-TALENT reality crap on tv now.

  • @rcfreak35 I wouldn't go back, there would be no youtube or virtual console which would mean I'd have to pay full price for games and not be able to watch things like this.

  • I hear you brother!!!!! Me too!!!! That decade change my life!!!!!

  • @rcfreak35 90's were better.

  • @rcfreak35 But you could use a million dollars to bring back the 80's

  • I still think the intro theme to this show is one of the coolest ever. :)

  • Seeing this again just makes me feel old, but I still loved it back in the day.

  • OMG no frggin' way!!!!!!

I haven't seen this show in like 25 years!!! at least probably more..

But wait until you hear this incredible coincidence..

Back in 82 I was making an audio cassette tape of all my favorite shows at that time. I was like 11 years old then well I recorded this on that cassette tape which I still have. I mean this exact episode!! that is just too weird.. I was sitting here and by accident I clicked on this and found it.. Man You brought me back to a happy time for me

  • Remember this too. Q-Bert, Donkey Kong, Kangaroo. Another lost classic Saturday morning show.

  • some of these cartoons were awful.

  • I loved this show. I wish they have this on DVD.

  • I got an idea for a sequel for Sartuday Supercade (Sartuday Supercade 2010)

  • @mombijombo Tell me your idea.

  • @SuperCartiel Cartoons basead on some of popular videogames from the gameboy era.

  • @mombijombo Which gameboy? Color, advanced or Sp?

Pokemon, Dragon Ball Z, and Yu-Gi-Oh! do not apply.

  • @SuperCartiel the games that have cartoons basead beyond just gameboy plataforn and the game boy era is normal Gameboy and also not aply those ones

  • @mombijombo That doesn't leave much. Tetris, Harvest Moon, Final Fantasy, Ridge Racer, and a few others that probably wouldn't cut it as shows.

There may be something worthy in that catalog. See if you can find a few titles, and then make a list and post it here.

  • its simple cartoons were fun and enjoyable . okay america changed no longer does it want kids it wants junior adults . all it took was for nbc to move from cartoons to its adult programing and cartoons be came an embarssment to air. two the cartoons didnt bring the networks any money

  • Rest In Peace Soupy Sales (voice of Donkey Kong).

  • The S.S. opening theme just rocks! Now that's music!

  • im sutting here with tears in my eyes remenising on all of the great cartoons of my childhood. thank you for giving me a part of my childhood back.

  • Its Sounds Like: "Yes, its super gay time let have some super gay fun FUN FUN!"

  • MEMORIES any one?! I remember these shows. I loved being a kid during the 80s... why did we have to grow up? pplease some one explain that to me?

  • I remember this show. I was a real Saturday morning cartoon freak and this show was one of my favorites. I would wait anxiously for Saturday morning to come so I could enjoy this. It's been years since I saw it. Thanks for posting.

  • The Q Bert cartoon sucked. The Donkey Kong one was awesome though

  • wow, i'll bet Saturday mornings back in the eighties were fun!! especially when there's arcade charactors involved!! as a kid from the nineties, i'm pretty jealous!!

  • @rawrvintageisclassic It was pretty cool. To see the video games that you would play come to a cartoon series was big for us those days. Too bad they don't do it these days...wonder how Mario would look in a cartoon series today...lol

  • I didn't like Mario in the Donkey Kong Cartoon. I do like Mario, but in this cartoon, he did not have an Italian or New Yorker accent. This throws me off. Anyone feel the same?

  • @CO9207 To be honest, I liked Mario's accent here better. He doesn't sound like a stereotypical, bubbly, immigrant Italian. Instead he sounds more like a tough, 3rd generation guinea from Brooklyn. That's authenticity for ya!

  • Did Pitfall Harry have an opening intro ?

It's been so long since I seen this show I can't remember

  • I cant explain it today they dont want KIDS. They want mini adults... PISS ON THAT KIDS need to b kids and with the millions of TV channels that r out now . tHEY NEED TO FIGURE SOMETHING OUT...

  • ahhh these were the days

  • Wow. This does bring back memories. Gotta admit, though. I wasn't big fan of this show. I liked ABC's Pac-Man cartoon much better.

  • This makes me want to go buy some sort of goofball cereal with marshmellows, or fruity pebbles.

  • are there any channels that show these kinds of 80s cartoons ?

  • lol, love the E.L.O. style (supercade tiiiiiiiiiiime)

  • @dus7 - The visual effects at the beginning happens to be from "Ron Hays' MUSIC IMAGE"... the same effects used for first two seasons of Star Search (McMahon).

  • "DOOONNKEEYY KOOOONNG!!!"

  • @LuisRican Bingo my friend,I'll be 33 this year so I know exactly what you mean.

  • Awesome. Classic.

  • Somebody explain to me,why did Sat morning cartoons die? Its like I woke up one day and they were all gone. Thank you for posting these.

  • @1977SOUTHERNBOY there not gone there just crap there's no good sat morning cartoons any more

  • Cartoon Network, Nickelodeon, the internet, etc.

  • @1977SOUTHERNBOY /// Very good question....I have to say that the 80's was the best years of saturdays cartoons..I think kids right now are different or something,,,The good thing is that all of us live that decade...

  • because of SAVED BY THE BELL

  • @1977SOUTHERNBOY

    Several reasons why they died:

    (1. Law passed restricting cartoons affiliated to toys (most 80s shows)

    (2. Advertisers dropped off (Due to #1)

    (3. Cartoons became too expensive to make (live action shows were preferred)

    (4. Cable stations targeted strictly to kids took away viewers.

    (5. Law passed requiring so many hours of educational programming.

NBC started the trend in 1991 when they did away with theirs to show sports. Only "Saved By the Bell" stayed.

  • @newguy90 I think you may have it in reverse, there were regulations restricting cartoons affiliated to toys but those were dropped during the 1980s. Recall how G.I Joe and The Transformer cartoons originally started as TV specials, after they changed the rules both became Saturday morning or weekday cartoon series along with He-man and a dozen others. I think that reasons 3 through 5 may explain it, but number 4 especially.

  • @newguy90 There was also the trend that started during the 1980s of airing cartoon programs, like G.I Joe and He-Man, on weekday afternoons so that watered down the Saturday morning lineup. What I have been wondering is how the Smurfs got around the toy ban in the early 80s? Maybe it was because the program came on the air before the toys came on the market.

  • @1977SOUTHERNBOY

Saturday morning cartoons are still around, to a certain degree, but like you said, they're no longer this mega block that dominates the 7:00 AM to 1:00 PM block like in the 70s-80s. Certainly, they're not the star-studded huge events trumpeted by a Friday night TV special offering sneak peaks of the new cartoons premiering for the new season.

  • @1977SOUTHERNBOY I think because with networks like cartoon network & Nickelodean, there's just not a market for them.

  • @1977SOUTHERNBOY

    The Internet happened.

  • @1977SOUTHERNBOY I have a 5 and 9 year old, and have explained to them why Saturday mornings in front of the TV with a big bowl of sugary cereal was one of life's greatest pleasures. They look at me like "whuut?" I guess since we have a dozen cartoon channels on Dish, they can't understand it.

  • @JasonBassn I totally agree. Had to do the same with my son. Those memories will live on forever.

  • @1977SOUTHERNBOY They didn't die, they just got outsourced to Japan.

  • @1977SOUTHERNBOY Cartoon Network/Nickelodeon/Disney stole the audience with cartoons 24/7 there was no need for networks to dedicate a day for kids anymore and as ratings lowered they stopped caring and started replacing them with infomercials.

  • @1977SOUTHERNBOY the advent of syndacation and calble/ statalite

  • @KRstar78 Cartoon Network is another major reason (though the channel itself seems to no longer be a "Cartoon Network")

  • @FSinWCR I have to agree. And now, even CN has become a pathetic SHELL of it's former self!

  • @1977SOUTHERNBOY I know! If only I was old enough to watch and understand these a long time ago. And I wish I still had the old shows like courage the cowardly dog and scooby doo instead of these new ones that sometimes don't make ant sense.

  • @1977SOUTHERNBOY those damn soccer moms

  • wow this jolted me with great moments, this song rocks haha. THIS was saturday moring cartoons not this shows reality shit!

  • Haha I remember this mostly becuz the intro song is so awesome. Most of the cartoons on the show were kinda throw away. But I didn't think so back then.

  • 0:17 - Donkey Kong says: "elp, elp, elp"

  • Wow, Optimus Prime and Megatron were in this (well, their voices actors, anyway :) ).

  • RIP Soupy Sales (voice actor of this Donkey Kong)

    January 8, 1926 October 22, 2009

  • i don't remember this at all. all i remember is super mario super show super mario bros. 3 super mario world and captain N

  • Yeah this predated all that stuff. The Super Mario show was like in 1989 or 1990 this was around 1982 or 1983

  • Wow my memory failed me, I had remembered Donkey Kong, Donkey Kong Jr, and Q-Bert but thought they were all seperate programs. I didn't even remember Frogger, and was the other one Jungle Hunt or Pitfall?

  • Pitfall. Cartoons that aired after "Frogger," "Donkey Kong Jr.," and "Pitfall" are "Space Ace" and "Kangaroo."

  • It's been ages since I've seen all this, Saturday mornings before the whole G.I.Joe/Transformers/Voltron deal took off was so sweet and innocent.

The only thing missing from this line-up would have been a Zaxxon and Joust cartoon. This sort of thing could never happen today!

  • This is when Cartoons kicked ass i remember watching this every Saturday the whole line up rocked

Its kinds cool to see the first animated Mario

    Befor he was all famous

would be kinda cool to see this Mario animated into all the games and to see them bring back his niece Pauline in the games

wait a min if Pauline's Mario niece would that mean that shes Luigi's Daughter!?!?

  • I just realized that the voice of DK Jr is actually that of Scrappy Doo.

  • I cant believe I missed this and I am an 80s child. Anyone know how long this lasted?

  • 2 seasons, 1983 and 1984

  • I googled after I posted that comment. Immediate Gratification. Thanks tho :)

  • 2:16 Lol Mario and Pauline stole and repainted the Mystery Machine to chase Donkey Kong XD.

  • I watched this show religiously when I was a kid. I used to hum the main theme to myself. Q*Bert was one of my favorites, but I got big into Pitfall too; I really enjoyed Rhonda and Quickclaw.

Man, who do we have to corner to get this on DVD?

  • They should also release Seasons 1 and 2 of Video Power and The Power Team.

  • haha, I need an MP3 of that Q*Bert theme

  • Was this before the 1990's? Cuz I dun remember this.

  • yes it was before the 1990's.

  • Mid 80's.

  • early 1980s. loved this as a child.

  • Oh yes, I remember his, mostly because Qbert never really had his own show.

But hey, I was willing to accept this...then I gave up after a while because, well, it was mostly NOT qbert. And really, they messed that part of the show up anyhow. I mean really, 50's qbert? wft? I hope some day one of the original brain childs for that mess comes forward on here for that one.

  • Damn I don't even remember this.

  • I'm 29 yrs old and I vividly remember watching this on channel 10. I was probably like 4 yrs old. Thats such a long time ago and I miss it dearly. It will never be a time like the 80's!!!!!!!! (I'm crying!!!)

  • I'm 31 and I have hazy memories of this. I wish I had gotten more into it. I was doing too much channel flipping. Damn short attention span. :(

  • I had completely forgotten about this show until I was looking up Peter Cullen (Optimus Prime) to see all the different voices he did and he did the voice for Mario in this show so I had to check it out again.

  • this is awesome, walk down memory lane

  • Good memories. ^^

  • I still can't understand the QBert lyrics after 25 years.

What is the singer saying right before "......QBert you're my favorite."?

  • 2:00 Oddy enough, the turtle seems familiar with Dig Dug.

  • Q-bert went to the same school as Richie Cunningham?

  • Thanks for posting this video. It really takes me back to my early preteen and teen years. Back when Saturday mornings were all about kids watching cartoons and having a good time; even if the cartoons were all based upon marketing ploys. I had many of those games for the Atari game system, and loved playing the arcade versions at my local 7-11 store as well. Good times.

  • oh why didn't i grow up in the nineteen eighties?!

  • Me too...Thing's were way better.

  • unlike modern time where FCC is cleaning TV for soccermoms, the economy is in a crisis and companies are bent on money

  • This I'm sure was great, but the 90's was the best!

  • I was born in 79 so I got the 80s and the early 90s. They both rocked!

  • so much for when they parodied Q*bert being Stewie's room-mate on Family Guy

  • So it's called Supercade because they made all cartoons about videogame heroes, right? I see this one here for the first time. Thank you for the video^^

  • I was going through old unmarked videos and came across a 6 hour tape of saturday supercade yesterday :)

  • I hope you saved that 6 hour video tape! People are even interested in those commercial breaks. Get that archived digitally somehow.

  • monkey muscle!

  • I used to have a coloring book from this tv series, dedicated to Pitfall Harry and his cat. Last time I remember seeing it was around 1987. It dissapeared just like so many other beloved toys and magazines. Parents must have thrown it out because I would have never done so. ARRgh

  • I understand man.
