I've heard the full versions of several songs from The Open Door right here on Youtube..before they pulled it all down of course.. and I DO NOT think they've gotten softer in any way. I think its far more edgier and more awesome than Fallen. Everything's a perfect blend, the lyrics are totally awesome! Its just really a beautiful piece of Evanescence art! And I believe its going to be a totally awesome cd. I just cant wait for the release!! ITs TOO far away!

Well, to be fair, Amy has always said that they can't be put into one specific genre of music. I'd agree with her. I mean, look at "Call Me When You're Sober". It was more bluesy than Rock, but it was still awesome.

In their EP's, they were more goth, in "Origin" they were more tecno, in "Fallen" they were more commercial pop/rock, and now "Call Me When You're Sober" seems to add blues to their repetoire... And classical music and piano are like a must have in Evanescence music... Evanescence is Evanescence, you can't label them...

I usually like to listen to rap or rock songs like RHCP and stuff but wow! Evanescence rocks! Amy has a purely amazing voice. It's soothing yet so fierce if you know what I mean. I suppose this song will be my favourite song from The Open Door! Its actually some sort of a relief listening to this extract because 'Call Me When You're Sober' wasnt really effective as a modern rock/gothic rock type of song. I hate when people think that Lacuna Coil and Ev sound alike, I am a huge fan of both of them, and really, their music and vocal styles are in no way the same. And I find it hard to believe that an American band would have even known about Lacuna Coil in 1998 when Evanescence released their first Ep, yet alone "rip them off". Also, if you think that every song sounds the same, then you really have no ear for music and should probably just stop existing. That would be good. :)

Personally, I agree with you! People are quick to think that they sound alike when, in my opinion, they sound completely different. Each has their own style to go by. They don't rip each other off. You're completely right. Amy and Ben wrote My Immortal when she was fifteen--that was even earlier than 1998. Understanding was their first song, so that was even earlier. Their sound has always been developing, and always in un-LC-ish ways. People have no sense sometimes.
