  • honestly, the sn95 mustangs (94-99) were like the worst years gts came in. my 97 gt has 215hp at the flywheel stock. im actually about to trade my car for a 2000 miata and have many plans for it. everytime i tell people im about to get a miata they say its a chicks car, but in really, i see more girls driving mustangs than i have ever seen drive miatas...

  • @leagacy23 Not that bad. The 94-95 still had the 5.0. And you could get some easy hp out of it by upgrading to the gt40 or gt40p heads. You can find those pretty easy in a junk yard and they can run you around $100. Grab the intake manifold too and you can make that 5.0 pretty powerful. The 96-98 4.6 has a better block than the 99-04. Swap the heads and you will get a nice bonus there too. Working on an engine for mine, but I'm no racer so that's about all I'll do. Just a lil more kick.

  • Nice win. As a Mustang owner a GT is not as fast as people like to think it is. The Mustang GT will be next year, but the 2V GT was very unimpressive stock. Ford only stepped up their game because Pontiac, Chevy, Dodge, Hyundai and others already had cars that were more than rivals for the Mustang GT.

  • That, my friend, is not a monster Miata. It has the same four liter exhaust note with the same supercharger whine that mine makes. He just got a good launch.

  • In no way shape or form is there a 5.0 liter engine under that hood. That is a Jackson Racing Supercharger with a crank pulley upgrade running probably a 62.5mm nose pulley. He said he only ran a 14.82...thats not blinding fast, but it is great for a Miata.

  • Evan Smith of Muscle Mustangs and fast ford ran a 01 bone stock GT 5 speed coupe to a number or 13.7@101 runs in fairly warm weather up north. So it could be possible to get a GT to run a 13.2, if you have absolutely perfect conditions, some weight reduction and a few minor mods. Last but surely not least. NOT ALL CARS ARE THE SAME. Some GT's won't break 14's bone stock. SOME are clear capable of 13's with ease...bone stock.

  • I've never though of the Miata as a drag car, just a road racer. But then again you should see the one they are building in Sport Compact Car; all carbon fiber body parts, with a roll cage, still under 2000 lbs. Put on a FM turbo and you have increadible power to weigh ratio!

  • OK according to Edmunds, a 2002 Bullitt mustang (5 hp more then the GT) ran, at best, was a 14.4 @ 99.5mph. now unless you think they are lying, or they don't know how to drive.. thoes are the numbers...

  • mustang had to of missed a gear or let out...i have a stock 2002 gt and on my worst day i was running 14.2 13.7 on a good day...and 13.2 on slicks (Stock), very impressive time though , my friend has a supercharged svt focus with thousands of internal work and it will outrun me...

  • Yea the new GT's kill me, that was a 1996 4.6L, Those I can beat pretty consistantly, the 5.0's and like I said the new ones are hard for my 1.8, next time I go to the track will be with the 81 V8 Rx-7..

  • My car ran 13.9 @ 101mph completely stock with street tires...someone who can drive like the devil can run better times than that....i just done headers and intake and ran a 13.7 @ 102mph on street tires....you must not know shit about racing to think that these numbers are impossible..

  • Obviously a 13.7 with headers and intake is possible, but a 13.2 bone stock.... I still call bullshit. Its not going to happen. Slicks dont really help that much as traction is not what limits the 2V gt, its the power. I believe I know more than you do. And no headers and exhaust is not a stock car. Just to give you guys some basis, 03 cobras run ~12.9 stock. And this guy claims his car with 130 less hp is running 13.2 No way.

  • speaking of the track altering the time slips thats really not a bad idea if you own a track because if you can convince people that they will run faster at your track then you will get alot of repeat business. So im going to say that a 13.2 out of a stock 2 valve on slicks is an altered time slip.

    for the times i did run it was new upper plenum and headers...i put gears in, 4.10, but they didnt help any at all, thats it tho, no pulleys or tunes or chips or anything....ran at Beech Bend in Bowling Green Ky.

  • one more thing..i work as a technician at a ford dealership..and no its not the power that limits the 2v. its the poor flow of the heads at top end..they just suck...but u can buy some 2v heads from Ford racing that look like stock but offer the top end power flow... and dude im not hatin on you..im just tellin wat i know as a tech..Shit i Love mustangs..especially my mach..so i would really love

  • Not really, just some timming, I added the alcohol injection to quiet down the pinging at high boost (10psi). Without a programable ecu theres not much more I can do at this point, I also put a 10K resister in the mass air flow, this tricks the computer into thinking its -20 degrees out and adds more fuel to the mix..

  • A/F looks good all the way down the strip. Looked to trail a bit leaner toward the end, but couldn't really tell. Nice run.

  • Yea I am having a lean issue, an ecu and bigger injectors would help, but I am not about to put $2000 into that upgrade... I have less then $6k into the car total, and I want to keep costs down...
