It has nothing whatsoever do with, and is a perversion of, the original & proper meaning of Goth, but I presume that isn't what you're talking about. In terms of popculture, of course, everything is meaningless, not just definitions like Neo-Romatic but also all bands' names and almost everybody's lyrics. It's a wasteland for teenagers to find shreds of themselves in because they aren't intelligent enough yet to appreciate great poetry.
