Hey man love the truck I've got an 87 gmc long box was thinking about flatbed made out of wood have any ideas on what to do since you said yours was kinda high just need it to carry a wheeler thanks any advice helps
@TheSuzukieiger400 yeah its basically just composed of 4x6 square posts for the main stringers laid on top of the frame, then 4x4s for the cross beams and regular 1 inch decking on top, she's solid as a rock! I have pictures of every step in the building process if you're really interested.
couldn't help but notice... did you body lift the whole truck? or did you just lift the bed? Im thinking about doing a 3" body on mine in the spring, i finally got a new door. Just need to do some body and paint. Thinking of re-painting it brown. And putting all the moldings back on. I still love your truck buddy!
@COPOKurt HAha... yeah about that... there is no body lift on the truck! I built the flatbed myself and we used 4x6 pressure treated pine for the main stringers on top of the frame rails, and 4x4s as cross slats... when we finished it we realized we probably didn't need to go such heavy duty... the bed is really too high to actually use... lol
could you send me a picture of your truck. cause im kinda shocked that some one already beat me to this build lol. thats exactly what i wanted my 86 gmc to look like lol
