This is the epitome of "Hip Hop" I can't say much more, other than Hip Hop is dead compared to this kind of material, its now evolved morely into rap. But few artists are trying to preserve what little of hip hop is left. R.I.P. DILLA!
it doesn't help with artists like drake and Gucci Mane and whoever else that sucks that i can't even think of right now ruining everything. Real Hip Hop is not respected as it should be because tracks like this make me wanna play it over and over again, the rest i could break my stereo if they came on at the wrong time!
@trishtoth85 for real, the roomate i had in college my first yr made me want to shoot his radio cause Gucci would rap all the time and not make sence. then someone had the nerve to tell me De la soul, Lord of the Underground, Souls of Mischief, and Black Sheep are wack....WHAT!!! lol idk, maybe gucci is sell crack with his CD's and all the kids these days are all high on bull crap...hopefully something happens and Hip Hop gets the respect it deserves.
Cowards are afraid of something new and afraid of failure. Everyone in a green shirt going platinum. So let me put on a green shirt so I can go platinum. And out the window goes....creativity, skills, and being unique. Nowits all about one thing. How much profit will u intake for urself and more importantly, the company. Mainstreem will remain garbage unitl we convince people to stop buying it. As long as its bought, it will be made. And as long as its made, the real hip hop will suffer.
true words, all we have to do is make real hip hop and boycott this wake ish. Make them try again. I know im tryin to help. By the way you wrote this i know you are to.
People dont know what they fuckin like anymore. They let radio and video programers tell them what to like. And they ride with it. Streets and neighborhoods use to dictate what goes on in hip hop. Now hip hop is a buisness and instead of us creating the trends......corprate does and we...(meaning they) follow. Me, I have a mind of my own and would prefer to stand out. If 100 in the room wearing green shirts I'm going to wear brown. Artists these days see the green shirts and put one on too.
Haha I agree with this man underneath. It's sad, but that's life. Plus, it's more for us intelligent people and let the ignorant ones enjoy their mainstream. So when someone says they've never heard of Dilla, ignore them, or slap em haha. Dilla will always be the King in my heart regardless of popularity.
These people who say they never heard of Dilla usually have and just dont know. If they listen to hip hop, I garentee they have not only heard but probably own at least one song produced by Dilla. Yea, I'm sick of radio. Shit been watered down for so long that we now actually have a whole generation of young adualt that listen to garbage rap because its all they know. People have no identoty anymore. If stanky lleg bumped on radio1000 times a day, they tell themselves it must be good.
how come weak ass stanky leg and all that b.s be having ovr 500,000 views and this truthful hip hop shit has 5,000 views? fkn bullshit ass dumb down america this is HIP HOP PPL!!!! wake the fk up appreciate this shit!
Nas said "HIP HOP'S DEAD",but you can't get mad at him for sayin it,beacause lets be real, they don't make hip hop music like this joint......Rest In Peace Dilla

its cool cuz in this track you can see the beginnings of Dilla's drum pattern style, those unorthodox/strangely-timed bass kicks

Early to Mid nintey's were the best times to be an MC.
2000's suck...its getting a smig better. only like by .01%
We need to get those like Phonte, Elzhi, MF DOOM, Black Thought, and others that are part of real hip hop more heard.
People don't even try anymore...we have these wake "dance" songs. not only do the songs suck the dances suck too.
But with effort we can bring HIP HOP BACK!!!
