delta has made some terrible financial moves in my opinion. First they finally get to repainted all of these DC-9's, and now they're being retired! Also, just about every 757-200 in their inventory has been repainted, and now I've heard that they're going to be replaced very soon!
@Airforceproud95 Yes I totally agree, and their service can suck it... I have not had as much problems with them thank I did with Northwest Airlines. Hell, I have absolutley NO problem with NWA. The only reason I fly Delta is cause of the DC-9's. When there gone, American here I come! Also, the 757's are not going to be replaced, only the older ones which I think is retarded. But they're replacing the older 757's with the 737-900ER's.
@jonahair747 Yeah Delta's service has really changed. I think because it is now the largest, busiest, most "industrial" airline that it isn't as much of a personal or caring airline that when NWA and Delta were separate. Delta was still pretty big back then but it has just gotten so large now. I remember flying on a Northwest A319 from MSP to I think it was Sioux, South Dakota. It was a quiet, enjoyable flight with friendly service and NOT a full flight which is hard to come by on any airline.
@MD11ER I know, I'm going to cry when they go. I booked my LAST DC-9-51 Flight on June 27th (This Monday) I'm going to record everything on that plane with my camera.
@jonahair747 When I flew in and out of detroit I saw alot of previous NWA nose cones and even full NWA planes still not repainted for the Delta Transfer....i wish it was NWA still....but My Dad says that he likes the Delta Employee Management better since he is a retired NWA Captain.
@jonahair747 American Airlines claimed 5 years ago that at this time, they'd be rid of their massive MD83 fleet and have transitioned to both a 737 and A320 fleet. American still has a shitload of MD83s flyin. I think Delta would end up keepin a few 30s and 40s around. The 50? They're not goin anywhere no time soon. The aircraft basically pays for itself. Other than the fact they drink fuel a bit more than others, maintenance wise, they're like old ass Chevy trucks.

It's sad the Diesel 9s will be all gone a year from now. Just booked a four leg trip with two of them being D95s.

what i like about the plane is that in the front it's like no noise and in the back you feel all the vibration when he goes to reverse :D

@6V92TA I know DC-9 long live... Iwish. They're getting rid of the 30's this month, the 40's early of next year, and the 50's in 4 years. So sad...
