They cant? They probably just choose not to. The challenger rt has a 5.7l hemi and it can't beat a 4.6l v8 in the mustang gt. What does that tell you? Ford is just better at desiging cars to do great with smaller engines, and if need be they put a nice ford supercharger on it and give it so much more power. If dodge cant do good with a regular smaller engine, they either choose a huge 6.1l hemi to put in the car, or up it to 10 cylinders like in the viper.
@gunzkevin You're forgetting the Stang barely keeps up with the Challenger or the charger because it is much lighter than both and has bigger gears.Take those two factors away and the Stang is not much of a threat.

GM was supposed to be releasing a 'baby' Duramax, a 4.5 Liter turbod engine. Rumor has it that it has been delayed because of 'budget constraints'. I was hoping to put that engine in my '94 Caprice. I wouldnt mind putting a Durmax in my Caprice, but I dont know if there is enough room in the frame rails.
well it depends on what you are getting good gas milage for. To save money, then diesel all the way, gets great mpg. For the enviroment, not so much, diesel burns dirtier than gas (I think) (pretty sure) so its kind of a choice thing.

For a simple reason: Prius has a gasoline engine, therefore if you want to compare its performance with diesel engines you have to factor out the difference in density between the two fuels. In other words if you get 30mpg city in a Jetta 1.9 TDI (an equivalent car in terms of capacity, Lupo and Golf are too small for a comparison with Prius), this is equivalent with 30*0.85 = 25mpg for a gasoline engine. In comparison Prius gets 48mpg in city driving, which is almost twice as good.

I agree with the guy that said the 6.1 hemi should be the 600hp engine. I mean they should just throw on a supercharger and tune it to ~600hp and the car will be a true muscle car. Although it couldn't handle like a vette, it's not meant to, it'd be a car for the drag strip. So fuck the V10 imo, just make a blown hemi SRT-8 and leave it at that, it'd be a nice weekend track car with ~600hp and not that much more expensive than the current SRT-8.
I've always found it strange how the diesel is yet to catch on in America, in the same way as in Europe. There are some great engines out there, such as BMW's twin-turbo 335d, the Peugeot/Ford premium 2.7 V6, and the scarily torquey Audi V10.
it's because american diesels are 20 years behind the technology. The Audi 3.0 TDI is an ultra low emissions vehicle, the kind of rating a 4 cylinder Honda normally gets.

using displacement as the only measure of size is wrong! the 7.0 liter ls7 v8 weighs the same amount as the 4.0 liter bmw s65b40 v8 and produces 100 more bhp/200 more lbs-ft torque. but the m3 engine is better because it has lower displacement?!

I am not going to argue with you, but a 7.0 V8 is not lazy. I am a stereotypical American who likes 8 cylinder engines. Mind you I have a lot of respect for BMW. My boss's wife has an M roadster, and my friend has a 750li. That M roadster is much more of a car than the C5 Corvette it competed with. The 750 is incredibly fast, and handles like sex. I like BMW, but I still like my Chevy V8s.

I've heard this car costs close to 45K. I've seen used dodge vipers around that price. I bet a lot of people will notice what they've done after they buy this. I dunno about you but a late 90's viper or a muscle car without a stick? Now a challenger with a stick is ok, but come onnn the viper is smaller lighter and definitely will turn some heads. I was thinking about the challenger but then I was like wait how much is a used viper???

F1's around Le Mans would be incredible (or how about even the original nurburgring)! if anything though i reckon one of the best places the F1 could go is back to the Adelaide Street circuit, way better than Melbourne GP.

Man that SRT-10 looks like a BEAST! If they really did that, it would help Chrysler tremendously. I mean a 200mph challenger. But they'd have to completely redo the suspension. I mean it almost has too much travel for 425hp, 600+ would bee too much.

(also idk about all challengers but the one i saw at the dealership was running at $77,000) sry

I agree with the guy that said the 6.1 hemi should be the 600hp engine. I mean they should just throw on a supercharger and tune it to ~600hp and the car will be a true muscle car. Although it couldn't handle like a vette, it's not meant to, it'd be a car for the drag strip. So fuck the V10 imo, just make a blown hemi SRT-8 and leave it at that, it'd be a nice weekend track car with ~600hp and not that much more expensive than the current SRT-8.

I've always found it strange how the diesel is yet to catch on in America, in the same way as in Europe. There are some great engines out there, such as BMW's twin-turbo 335d, the Peugeot/Ford premium 2.7 V6, and the scarily torquey Audi V10.

using displacement as the only measure of size is wrong! the 7.0 liter ls7 v8 weighs the same amount as the 4.0 liter bmw s65b40 v8 and produces 100 more bhp/200 more lbs-ft torque. but the m3 engine is better because it has lower displacement?!

the reason for all that extra weight in the smaller bmw engines is all the extra parts and electronics that make it a more sophisticated engine. i'm a brit, so you'd think i'd prefer that...but big loud lazy engines with massive torque curves and variable..nothing?! - there's just no substitute for character!!

I am not going to argue with you, but a 7.0 V8 is not lazy. I am a stereotypical American who likes 8 cylinder engines. Mind you I have a lot of respect for BMW. My boss's wife has an M roadster, and my friend has a 750li. That M roadster is much more of a car than the C5 Corvette it competed with. The 750 is incredibly fast, and handles like sex. I like BMW, but I still like my Chevy V8s.

that prius should go on the show "root of all evil"! its a summary of ignorant people and overpowered corporations, everyone suddenly cares about the enviroment because they think global warming is going to kill them, no one really seemed to give a crap before that. so, toyota (i could be wrong if they have a mental disorder) makes the ugliest most compromised car possible to make it the ideal green car. making the battery go in causes more damage than a land rover, they know it doesnt matter.
