'Me and you, whats going on? all we seem to know is how to show the feelings that are wrong' is one of the most beautiful lines that Noel's ever wrote. Everyone's felt like that at some point in their lives. Why did they ditch it here?
This and Stand By Me are classic Oasis, two best songs on Be Here Now and both are easily as good as anything on WTSMG, even if a bit cheesily produced.
I agree definitely maybe liams voice was still young except slide away was very good... , morning glory was great especially wonderwall was amazing... and be here now I thought his voice was the best, it peaked on that album.. shame the album was recorded too loud and had too many overlays really distorted and sounded like shit... after that liams voice started going down from the peak of be here now.... if be here now was recorded less noisey it wouldve been amazing.
Fucking ridiculous voice the lead singer has. I was introduced to Oasis a few years ago, no one touches this fuckin band. Not the RHCP, Nirvana, nobody. Maybe the Beatles actually.
Just give em Materplan, they'll be blown away. I liked the look on my mate's face when I told him Masterplan was a bunch of B-Sides. Every album Oasis have released has been a classic, in different ways. This is my personal ranking of all their albums 1. Definitely Maybe 2. Be Here Now 3. Whats the Story 4. SOTSOG 5. Dont Believe the Truth 6. Dig Out Your Soul 7. Heathen Chemistry I think Be Here Now is a really good album that people just didnt get!
There is one thing I have noticed about Paul McCartney over the years and that is he seems to have rather low standards for who he associates with both in terms of friends and in his love life as well. Oasis was half way decent at best but if someone likes them that's their thing. Type in "Seattle Band Child" here on YouTube if you want to see my idea of a great band.
@MrBEB123 Haha is this true? I would take Harrison's word over anybody else's. Seems like every Brit sniffs the jock of Oasis, I never understood why.
@MrBEB123 But Paul McCartney is a personal friend of Noel's and he loves Oasis. So swings and roundabouts. I know Oasis weren't that big in the states, but I don't think people can grasp how much of an impact they had in the UK. Record Breaking 22 consecutive top 10 hits, and 8 consecutive No.1 Albums.
Nobody knows blues based rock better than the Americans. They know what is good, and what is garbage. This is why they never took off in the States. They were OK/good, but not great.... Oasis that is.
@jonnytheoasisfan Yeah, I really like the sound as well, but it does not make them great. The first album was a tough act to follow. every song on the first album were good, and this is rare. I agree that the lyrics are weak. I still like to sing, "a champaigne SS Nova, in the sky"
this is when liam could sing most people off the planet. unfortunately maybe cos of the way he sang or just sheer abuse he cant sing half as good now, shame
@nufcrg too true old chap, bloody shame really he was alot of peoples answer to the lack of true Rock Stars at this time, nobodys really came close personally, apart from personally Kasabian, the tear the fucking roof off!! never been dissapointed..................................
@nufcrg It's because of the way he sang. Not many people sounded that good in their prime, with that high pitch at certain times. Of course it's gonna be evident when he's on the downhill, compared to other artists who really aren't good in their prime so you never notice
theMrbollox - totally agree aside from slide away oasis B sides are my favourite. But this album definitely should have got more credit. Think it was a long term grower though. Sounds better everytime I listen to it to this day
When my American (and British) friends say Oasis are overrated. I just let them listen to these songs. acqueisce masterplan stay young half the world away talk tonight headshrinker let's all make believe listen up rockin chair underneath the sky...... going nowhere they're usually amazed, then I say 'right do you want to listen to the A Sides now?' lol
@TheMrbollox they all sound the same mate, and no matter how good a song you write, you can't just keep doing it again and again, that's the problem with Oasis.
@TheMrbollox That is so fookin' true! When I heard "Wonderwall" and "Champagne Supernova", I fell in love with Oasis but then just kinda naturally drifted away to other things ( I'm also a HUGE Michael Jackson fan ). So, I went shopping in Chicago, picked up a copy, and have never looked back. Oasis is sublime...

@the10eyedtwolip It depends if u like saxophone or not. I like the 80's phat analog synth sounds aswell as the sax. The 80's was a good decade and the 90's was just poor.
@Mattyuk1 That's the difference. I love the 80's, but not the cheesy 80's. The Cure, The Smiths and the Cars are my favorite bands of the 80's. But the 90's were so amazing. SO many different scenes. But Oasis is my favorite of the lot. They are rock 'n' roll. Rock 'n' Roll with so much attitude, and if you don't like it, then you don't understand it. Mad fer it!!!
@the10eyedtwolip 80's had much more talent from soul to rock n roll. 90's wa very techno with the likes of s club 7, take that, vengaboys all charting in the top 10.
Oasis, blur and the verge was my 3 fave bands of the 90's, but they don't come close to 80's music.
Even noel himself said and i quote (the best song in 25 years has to be careless whisper) Doesn't that say it all?
...u r so right! u.s.a has always bashed good artists just because you gotta be from united states only to win if not then other nations or people make no sense ! we're "losers" for being in another part of the planet ....The Beatles showed that yankees artists aren't the only ones to exist! ...Abba, Menudo and Ricky Martin have done the same!
it would be nice if they make a dvd with all this concerts.. now that they are not together anymore.. and another dvd for the beatles too xD and other bands.. =D
@inputmodule ur just a bit thick arnt you :D 70,000,000 records sold they are definatly doing summent right wether you like ir or not. i have never understood why they arnt big in america though? although looking back at the things the brothers have said about america i am begining to see some of the reasons :D
LOL! Now I don't have to watch my old VHS tapes anymore! Though I dunno if I even taped this back in the day, though I probably did watch it back then.
They sound maybe even better here then the GMEX '98 Manchester version. My top albums. 1 Morning Glory 2 Be Here Now 3. Standing On...4. Heaten Chemistry 5. Dig Out. Didn't like Don't Believe. Be here now is very underrated. Critics slayed it and people and the band just started to believe them. Standing also underrated. It's got the most experiment and great songs like Sunday Morning Call, Roll It Over and Little James. It's really good!
Perfect perform!!!

...u r so right! u.s.a has always bashed good artists just because you gotta be from united states only to win if not then other nations or people make no sense ! we're "losers" for being in another part of the planet ....The Beatles showed that yankees artists aren't the only ones to exist! ...Abba, Menudo and Ricky Martin have done the same!

it would be nice if they make a dvd with all this concerts.. now that they are not together anymore.. and another dvd for the beatles too xD and other bands.. =D

this is one the greatest rock performances of the past 20 years.
This is why people love Oasis.

Oasis has always been massively overrated, particularly by the british press. although i have to admit this is a fucking great song
inputmodule 1 year ago
@inputmodule they aren't overrated in the slightest... not at all. look at their fucking record sales.
lawriemanc2 1 year ago
@inputmodule ur just a bit thick arnt you :D 70,000,000 records sold they are definatly doing summent right wether you like ir or not. i have never understood why they arnt big in america though? although looking back at the things the brothers have said about america i am begining to see some of the reasons :D
chalum30 1 year ago
@inputmodule they are brilliant, but it's just sad liam can't sing anywhere near as well as he used be able to...but oasis are still the best! lol

they didn't play the bridge. wonder why
sesswing 1 year ago
They sound maybe even better here then the GMEX '98 Manchester version. My top albums. 1 Morning Glory 2 Be Here Now 3. Standing On...4. Heaten Chemistry 5. Dig Out. Didn't like Don't Believe. Be here now is very underrated. Critics slayed it and people and the band just started to believe them. Standing also underrated. It's got the most experiment and great songs like Sunday Morning Call, Roll It Over and Little James. It's really good!
