I once read a Hadith where the Prophet said there will come a time where people will pleasure the style of recitation more then the Quran itself. These were one of the signs of the day Judgement!

Bro MU7 i am not judging the recitor. I said "People" will pleasure more from the recitation rather then the message of God...meaning the listeners. What the Qaris intentions are, are not for me to judge, since i can never know whats within ones heart. But the hadiths are words of the Prophet (SAW).

And to think that when I was a kid here in Chicago all we could find were audio cassettes of sheikh Al-Hussary, but only fast ones. I mean, I know he was very well respected also, but he hasn't had the type of influence on people that Abdul Basit has.
