I can tell the singer is using a Shure 520DX microphone. If you read this then I would change out that cheapy Dynamic element Shure puts in there and have an old Shure Controlled Magnetic for an absolute perfect direct replacement. You'll have a nastier sound, more crispness and better tone for overdriven vocals. Overall it's a much better element. I'm a harp player/custom mic builder so trust me on this. I didn't tell Jack White this because I like real blues better.
