He does not look well here.. It is really sad to hear that he passed away last year... He gave so much and God said that his work was done and called home... I think that the boy in the song wanted to be an only child in his parents lives... Thoughts anyone...
Just learned that he passed away last year. God, this single was one of the first records I bought. Great song and nice warm voice which hasn't changed. RIP Andrew.
Great video, and yes it is stepped down by a half to accommodate the changes in his voice. And also, how can you go wrong with Luis Conte on percussion :)
I just found out and I am so disapointed to see AG has passed away, I just loved his music and his work with wax was just fantastic, he will be sadly missed from here in Peru and all the way to Australia where my other family loved him too
This is his wife, and I remember being at this show....and he was sooo laid after it....Okay perhaps that is a bit of a politically incorrect thing to type -- OH wait, this is rock and roll! I miss him every minute. New web site launches tomorrow....
@qbrain - A little late perhaps, but my condolences...I had the vinyl of 'All This And Heaven Too ' back in 1978 and played it constantly...what a very talented man your husband was...with kind regards.
1/2 down from the original key. His hands are playing the correct chords, but he transposed the electronic piano down 1/2. Bon Jovi does living on a prayer 1 whole step down in concert now. The older we men get, the harder it is to sing high. If you listen to the end of the tune, the lady on keyboards take the high part.
This is a fucked up reality that a guy like Andrew Gold dies at 59 and there are an abundance of people who are miserable human beings and live forever. But, you already knew that. How about a new reality?
My...what can be said of the late artist, singer, songwriter, musician and producer of music...Andrew Gold. One only has to listen to his music. Simply stated...timeless songs we all remember and enjoy.
Thanks for the music...you are not forgotten... Mike - The Lone Wolf.
I believe it may be stated that Andrew's songs which include the timeless and classic song of friendship "Thank You For Being A Friend" and the experience we all have felt in our lives as in the song "Lonely Boy" (in one sense or another) of "self reflected loneliness" in this ever changing world. His songs enable us all to endure and carryon with the day to day struggles called life.
Thanks for the music...you are not forgotten... Mike - The Lone Wolf.
I am sure through his gift to us (his fans) of music and generosity of spirit, Andrew will never really be that "lonely boy". His songs will indeed be playing in the Milky Way galaxy for all eternity.
Thanks for the music...you are not forgotten... Mike - The Lone Wolf.
This Song means so much to me.......Like all great POP songs it seems to have been written
just for ME !
It made an impact as a young kid in the 70's and it still resonates today.....sounds even better,
a true piece of brilliance from a genuine talent.......come on fate start taking some BAD guys and leave all the good ones alone !!

anyone know why he did this in a different key than the original recording? -_-

@WalrusMuffins10797 I would say his singing range changed as he got older and it was easier for him to sing the higher notes.

@WalrusMuffins10797 Are you sure it's in a different key? It sounds pretty close to the original to me...
