  • the tilt shift effect makes this scene look amazing!

  • David Fincher's past with directing music videos is clearly shown here.

  • a regatta is the equivalent of meet/race

    its not a place

  • @ncdangale112 it's the place

  • what's regatta!?

  • This is my favourite scene from the movie.

  • when i heard this song all i can think of is sports lol .imagine a team leading a best of 7 series 3-0 and then as soon the music slowly speeds up they beging to lose theri wheels collapsing and ultimately losing the series 4-3. the music has the sound to it ya know, like a total collapse

  • Proud Norwegian <3

  • @stigoblogg Proud person of Norwegian descent :) Edward Grieg FTW!!!

  • /watch?v=cD8EPdn5Ctg

  • In HD you will understand the true awesomeness of this sequence.

  • what instrument is that HEAVY basslike sound? I belive its done with string.

  • I thought This was a remix of Savatage at first. Wrong "Hall of The Mountain King". That would have been cooler though.

  • Love how the entire scene is tiltshifted.

  • @SuperRedeyedtreefrog eh, everyones got an opinion

  • I remember in the theatre my friend goes

"pffft, this song doesn't fit at all"

    I slapped him

    Best night ever

  • @tsphilly98 Can I slap him too?

  • @Sinnerswing perhaps...

  • cool sound!

  • I love that depth of field thing on the cameras :-)

  • This is one of the best scenes in the movie.

  • what song?

  • @hellopooper

In The Hall Of The Mountain King but I don't know this remix for it

  • @StealthDoctor It's off of the sound track for the movie, this version is by Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross

  • I can totally see the guy at 1:04 yelling "COME ON!" in a stereotypical British voice.

  • A male friend and I went to see this movie together a few weeks after it came out...I think this is the scene we both still rave about.

  • This scene makes me think of my toys.

  • MASTER PIECE!

How can I find this version IN THE HALL OF THE MOUNTAIN KING... GRIEG

  • Really clever scene!

  • Sweeet...

  • love it how its meant to be "the closest race ever" and harvard just got their asses handed to them...

  • Rowers of Holland won, so will Mark Zuckerberg

  • The White Team reminds of the runners is CHARIOTS OF FIRE.....

One of the member looks like PRINCE HARRY.........

  • I wonder how the lost against the scourge of Europe.

  • the intro reminds me of harry potter XD

  • Uma das sequências mais fantásticas que vi no cinema nos últimos anos! David Fincher foi genial!

  • imagine they are all getting blowjobs.

  • these guys really suck!! thumbs up!!

  • Heads in the boat! Every rower knows that!

  • I love the limited depth of field. Makes this scene seem so surreal.

  • the music is awesome

  • best scene i ever seen

  • "In which year did a Harvard sculler outrow an Oxford man at Henley?"

"Surely such a travesty has never occured."

    LOL

  • @sdp271 ....which off course we all know its a line from "the DaVinci Code"

  • Comment removed

  • Yeah so, clearly this sequence encompasses what the whole film is about. How the Winklevi loses to mark (represented by the other boat). The frustration on the third guy's face at the end is also very important, it represents how useless he was in this whole process. He had little to do with the idea and execution and it was all on the Winklevi, who fucked it up.

  • Business.

  • Fantastic little scene :)

  • BEETLEJUICE, BEETLEJUICE... BEETLEJUICE!

  • Trent Reznor did win the oscar for the soundtrack. Awesome scene.

  • Hahaha it kinda soes and the reason i watched this is brcause trent reznor is in it and nine inch nails is my favorite bamd

  • 0:05 I swear that looks like it's a miniaturized set filmed up close.

  • Awesome.

  • Fuck the oscars, this was the best film of the year

  • @SuperHeroMania

i totally agree with you. While the King Speech won last year, i think that this film will be the one that is remembered more in the future as a classic film.

  • @Bumberfan23 Agreed, too many films went on to be a classic without winning Best Picture. To name a few, Apocalypse Now, Citizen Kane, A Clockwork Orange, Raging Bull, Goodfellas,Saving Private Ryan, and too much more

  • @Bumberfan23 this, inception, or black swan

  • @musicfan1ful

i think that inception and black swan will become cult films and possibly classic ones too (hopefully)

  • Now we know why this won Best Film Editing, Best Adapted Screenplay as well as Best Original Score.

  • I can't believe Inception won the best cinematography oscar over this. Inception was good don't get me wrong. But in this film they experimented with a lot more different techniques to get certain camera angles and distinct looks for the film. The tilted lens effect shown here is a perfect example.

  • @Pozos88 Yeah man the tilt shift lens was used here nicely. This sequence really stood out to me after seeing it. And of course the music.

  • @Pozos88 hi, jus wondering wat did u mean by tilted lens?

  • Fee the burn - - shouldes, arms, back, legs, lungs - - Great Action!

  • whats the name of this song???

  • @HaveEnoughSkill in the hall of the mountain king

  • I was annoyed at this scene, when you are rowing you don't look that perfect, and you are covered in sweat, fucking killing yourself, burning your muscles. these guys looked like they were going for an eager paddle.

  • Comment removed

  • let's be real here no one looks this good while sprinting in a race

also if my rowers looked out during a race i would kill them

  • 4 Bieber fans do not know the richness of classical music.

    (+ the fuckin @Slide2671 's paragraph) :D

  • Don't forget Fincher's directorial debut, Alien 3. One of the most underrated movies ever.

  • @220guy Alien 3, yuck, I liked the first two alien movies, and I absolutely love David Fincher, but Alien 3 just sucked

  • I am quite glad the Dutch team won. Hup Holland Hup!

  • the dutch RULE

  • I hated this scene

  • @relativityfactor Thats probably because you're retarded. :)

  • Anyone doubting the score, editing and direction of this movie had to have been asleep for this scene. This scene alone slays everything I saw in The Kings Speech.

  • I'm very into the Winklevoss twin who doesn't wear the sunglasses and is noble. FYI: I"m available...........

  • why doesn't Mark Zuckerberg give some money to Exeter? If he doesn't I'm going to have to, and that will not be pretty. Please give, Mark.

  • oh noes.................. daniel brou??????????

  • daniel brou???????

  • I just love the tilt-shift lens shots here. awesome way of using it.

  • I never thought Henley Regatta would look so badass.

  • Who have done the casting for this movie ? The twins are wonderful. They are hot !

  • @vampirawithin its actually just 1 person :) armie hammer!

  • @jordsalexis well most of the time there is actually 2 people but armie hammer's face is placed on the other actors face almost everytime except when when could do a "split screen"

  • Neither Inception nor the Social Network robbed us of any god damn thing. Those were the best movies of the year.

  • ...except that's me throughout the race, not just at the end. Lmao.

  • this isn't a dirigo. it's most likely a resolute or vespoli. dirigios are really old and would not look that good while racing.

  • @rowinggirl2013 It's an empacher. No high end team would use Vespos, and few would use resolutes. I don't think i have ever even seen a dirigo 8+

  • Inception was robbed! Fuck this movie. Social Networks are pathetic to our generation.

  • @tattoosjohn69 Inception robbed us!

  • mi escena favorita de la película!

  • This scene is so amazingly filmed. The look of determination and anger on the Winklevoss's face and the other rowers, the amazing digital soundtrack going on in the background, the dangerously close camera angles, it's so perfect. David Fincher rocks. Fight Club, Se7en, Panic Room, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button...so many amazing films. How has he not won an Oscar? Either way, it doesn't matter. Awesome film. 5/5/

  • do you know the name of the original song in this scene?

  • @fouvas Yes. In the Hall of the Mountain King. I believe it was written by Edvard Grieg.

  • @Slide2671 thank you

  • @fouvas The song is called "In the Hall of Mountain King". This song wasn't composed by Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross though, it was composed by Edvard Grieg in the late 18th century.

  • @findlj thank you.

  • @findlj your'e right... but it was the 19th century!

  • @Slide2671 he seriously hasnt won an oscar? thats bullcrap...

  • @coolioduelio He got nominated two times, one for Zodiac, and one for The Social Network. But of course, once again, the Academy decided to move onto more "sophisticated" (and politically) bent films.

But, true greatness does not come in awards.

  • @Slide2671 He's gonna be nominated for Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. Hopefully he won't get snubbed again by the Academy.

  • LOL

  • super chingona escena, tanto el audio como la dirección visual!!!! maravillosa!

  • wouldve expected harvard to be rowing in a resolute or a vespoli, looks like a diriga

  • @beejayrotten Harvard rowing in vespoli, how about no. Mike vespoli is a hypocritical idiot and vespolis, yes even V1's, are saved for the high school teams. Dirigo's yellow is much darker. They row an empacher

  • Here's how we saw the 2004 Grand Challenge Cup

  • puta mdre, i finally get this song...

  • the best soundtrack of the movie... O.O

  • @supar2100 worst soundtrack ever. makes rowing seem like a circus act, and distracts from the awesome cinematography.

  • @rmania247 Do you actuall know what you are talking about?

  • @supar2100 the rest is great this particular piece is terrible imo. sounds really lazy and forced. doesn't go with the amazing opening score or the rest of it in general. hats off to mr.reznor though

  • @slowpokecity this whole sequence isn't meant to sit in with the rest of the film. Its a big departure in look and feel from the Harvard scenes so the fact that it sticks out is intentional.

  • @supar2100 The only one that was not original!

  • I heard a lot about this sequence, but I just can't see what's so special about it. Supposedly its the most CGI-heavy scene in the movie. What gives? What am I missing?

  • @fanguk2 It looks awful on youtube. In the theatre it looks absolutely incredible. And it will probably look really good on the dvd too. You need to see to movie though or this scene doesnt seem as exciting.

  • @fanguk2 it's shot with a tilt shift camera lens. you can tell by looking how the image looks and focus.

  • @invadered7 there are tilt cameras, or just they portpro tilt effect?...and: Why? i mean, tilt seems like a diorama, but, what happens if not?

  • @fanguk2 Firstly, music's awesome. Thirdly, the "tilt-shift photography" that makes everything look miniature is an ingenious way to show how "small" this race is in the scheme of things. Thirdly, Fincher alternates between those miniature shots and energetic, dominant shots of the racers, which furthers the idea that the Winklevii are trying their damnedest in a world where they no longer matter. This is all subtler stuff, yeah, but it's there, and it makes the scene really, really cool.

  • whats the name of the song?

  • @LinkinParkGeneration

The name of this song is "In the Hall of the Mountain King". This version is composed/performed by Atticus Ross and Trent Reznor.

  • Thank you! Love this!!!!

  • good PR

  • Loved this scene!
