  • man, that space marine had a really big mouth!

  • "Protect Ultramarines"

    Translation: Engage Operation Human Shield!

  • @zombat: Send in the Imperial Guard! lol

  • @zombat eh if a bullet can be stopped by a gaurdsman's body is was no threat to a space marine anyway.

  • I'm astonished Commissar Holt managed to understand the Computer voice.

Sounds kinda like a drunk CABAL

  • @tehpevis Indeed, I can barely understand the voice, and miss one word on two.

Can anyone give here a transcript please ?

  • Does anyone know, if their power armors were CGI or real?

  • They are guys in fiberglass armour; CGI was very undeveloped when this game came out. I think they may still have the suits at GW HQ in Nottingham.

  • @MysteriousHu Yeah I've seen one of em lol.

  • @MysteriousHu dear santa...

  • I know a couple guys that ordered that kinda armor...except a good portion of it isn't fiberglass. Not sure which website it's from but you can order, however ou gotta put it together yourself.

  • It was real. Character animation in 1997 was atrocious (as we can see in the Warcraft 2 cutscenes).

  • I love this kind of 90s 3-D animation. Reminds me of the old Command & Conquer!

  • Ultras Captain who?

  • The Captain in the game is Captain Agrippa - the guy stood next to the bloke with the white hair on the balcony. The guy with white hair appears to outrank Agrippa.

  • @MysteriousHu : I presume the white haired guy can be considered to be Marneus Calgar.

As Agrippa is sent to command a Space Marine Company, it's probable for him to receive order from the Chapter Master himself.

  • ripped or influenced?

  • Let's be kind and say heavily influenced. Of course GW's vision of the far future has been heavily mined by other companies since - Mutant Cronicles, etc. Just like WoW is pretty much a straight lift from Warhammer.

  • The very first Warcraft game that Blizzard made was originally supposed to be a Warhammer Fantasy RTS. Games Workshop decided to pull out of production and having put so much work into it, Blizzard decided to go ahead and publish it.

  • Lol - GW could own a chunk of WoW rather than playing catch up with WAR. It does explain how come WoW looks some much like WH.

  • @MysteriousHu several designers for 40k from GW went to Blizzard and helped develop Starcraft, which is why SC looks like 40k.

  • @bass1master Yup - apparently GW were in talks with Blizzard to develop some computer games when GW got cold feet and pulled out - so 40k became Starcraft, Warhammer became Warcraft and GW missed out on owning the rights to World of Warcraft - doh!

  • this game cut scenes reminds me of dune 0.0

  • 40k ripped off a number of sources in its genisis - the Dune movie was a very big influence on the look and feel of the Empire of Man. Over the past 20 odd years its gained a certain feel of its own (more doomed, more gothic, more WAAAAAAR!); but you can still see those original influences - Dune, Aliens, Flash Gordon, etc :)

  • Foundation series.

  • hmm the ork's or whoever talks voice reminds me cabal from cnc tiberian sun xD

  • its not a ork

i think it a space marine

  • It sounds like a computer text-to-speech'ing a transmission.

  • ya it a space marine using a voxcom

  • that game was fun. too bad they never included other races apart from orkz and imps.

does anyone know, where i could find the music of the game?

  • y was ther a dark angels space marine ther anyway? wats he up 2?

  • Only the god emperor knows what the dark angels are up to.

  • @manlymanirule and sometimes, even he doesn't...hell.. those Brother marines are so secretive i doubt even THEY know what they're doing.

  • get your 40k right dude...

Holt was probably acting as the commissar for that detachment of the chapter at the time-hence the thunderhawk.

Besides the Guard ain't protecting the Marines. The Marines secure the beachhead on their own in the 1st mission.

  • To Jungleboy120 Look up BLACK Templars on youtube bunch of tribute videos

  • mmm the commander wasn't in Ultramarine colors it seemed to me, looked like,...Dark Templars maybe?

  • wtf is a dark templar lawl........i THINK you mean dark angels.

  • No Black Angels colors are Green, that color is obviously not green. Black Templars are a Divergent Chapter created from the imperial fists. Research before you comment otherwise you'll just be pwned like you are now.

  • HA! pwned? Sorry to say but there is no such thing as a 'Dark templar'. Maybe YOU should learn what the different chapters are called.

    Pwned.

  • Go search Lexicanum and when the intro page comes up click on the 40k option. And then type in Black Templar, even gives you a picture of the miniature, or search it up on youtube, bunch of tribute videos.

  • That was dark angels....look at winged sword on his helement

  • Yup - Dark Angles - maybe the Marine force taking part in the assault was on some sort of "punishment detail", a grab bag of trouble makers from various chapters; which might explain the Ultramarine seen in another one of these cut scenes - maybe they are being made to eat humble pie and play nice with the smaller children :)

As this game came out 10 years ago and the Dark Templars are a fairly recent addition to the 40k Universe it is highly unlikely that they make an appearance in the FMV.

  • The dark angel appears to have been recycled from the Inquisitor movie, which contains some of the same elements. The opening of the Final Liberation cutscene shows some footage used in Inquisitor. I guess they didn't want to remake the space marine costume.

  • Something about warhammer gives me the chills up the spine, i think its similar to a nightmare i had when i was verry young... probably because i saw "Alien " :))

  • This game was immense back in the day. Dawn of War was good, but I would have killed for some FMV cutscenes.

  • I agree on the thunder hawks, but i thought that they were reinforcing them, which is something they can do,

  • i cant find game play for this game wtf

  • This is a cutscene from the ancient "Final Liberation" PC Game - it was released over 10 years ago; so some of it does not match stuff in later codices and novels. The marines establish a bridgehead on an Ork conquered world; they then hand over the operation to the imperial forces under Commissar Holte. Effectively the marines are doing a favor for their less pumped up battle brothers.

  • where is this from?

  • Sorry, but pilots and navigators were not Space Marines in the normal sense. So not all Space Marines needed to be all pumped up, etc. Even in Dawn of War the Officers and religious leaders were old men, albeit in those bulky Space Marine exoskeletons! :)

  • Superfake costumes, cheeze sounds... yep! old school games ftw!!

  • we all know what the best race is dont we people?

    FOR THE GREATER GOOD

  • Too bad tht the Tau aren´t really that big players right now. They can just hope that the real big boys continue to kill each other. Cause if something like the imperium gets really determined about them, they´d get steamrolled in short order.

  • ya thats about right...the only reason chaos hasn't destroyed the galaxy is because Tzeentch is holding them back. read lore to know why. the orks are to stupid to unify, the eldar are to few and the Tau are afraid of "Stirring a sleeping giant" as said by a tau commander, the only thing that still poses a major threat is tyrnids, poor imperium

  • wtf r u talking about the space marines can kick the ass of any ork any day!

  • sorry 2 say this but the space marines look like wimps who r trying 2 make cool and heroic looking poses in this video

  • thats because space marines ARE wimps...compared to tha orks!

well cmon the space mairnes are supposed to be genetically engineered superhumans actors in costumes just dont cut it

  • Lol, oh yea, orks look real scary with there plastic, nonmoving faces and there *no scary mask policy*.

    The tau win, period.

  • live action + sci-fi/fantasy wargames = really bad

but on the tabletop "da orkez iz best!-cuz deyz made fer fightin"

  • I know. Space marines+Real actors=crap

  • Anyone interested, I have the whole Final Liberation soundtrack, message me if you want a link to download all the songs. All compatible with Windows Media Player.

  • send me the link please!

  • Nope , not Derek Fowlds - I think that this guy is probably from a local am' dram' theatre - though he is very good in the part. Its kind of a shame that in game cutscenes have replaced full motion video :(

  • I mean is the actor Dereck Fowlds; he was on Yes Minister and that shitty soap Heartbeat

  • they are normal human actors, dumbass!

  • is derek folwds the comissar?

  • Chaos is the only truth in all things. Watch society disentegrating around you. The False Emperors lies coming to fruition. Everyone falls to the indulgence of Slaanesh and Chaos. Children of the Emperor! Death to his foes

  • Yep. Exaclty right fleshfrombones.

  • did warhammer use to have a movie?

  • There was one in production about the Blkood Angels called Blood Quest, but it was discontinued. Now some German fans are making a live action one that looks like it will be good, but it sure won't be anything from Hollywood.

  • there is acctually a four Marine, a second Dark Angel in the right corner when we see the first one...I think they just really fucked up, or maybe there is a joint force of Space Marines...

  • That marine is definitely a dark angel - chaplains don't have a winged sword as a symbol and he also has different-coloured shoulder pad trims (red, while all the others have yellow).

  • Its a shame that they went down the RST path with Dawn of War - I was hoping for a straight wargame like Final Liberation. And I missed these cool FMV cutscenes - the ingame ones lack the sense of style

  • I want them to make

    a. An Inquisitor RPG

    b.A Necromunda RPG

    0r

    c. An FPS in the style of Star Wars Battlefront or Battlefield 1942/2142(yes I know theres a WH40k mod for it)

  • Oops, no - I've just watched it through again and the Darkangel is CGI rather than wooden actors in cardboard suits. Maybe he is supposed to be an Ultramarine Chaplain - their fashion sense tends to favour skulls with everything.

  • Hmmm... its been years since I played the game, however I seem to remember that the marines were Ultras - I certainly seem to member tiny blue sprites clumping across the isometric battlefield - so, maybe the Darkangel is an observer - seems odd that they'd go to the trouble of making another suit of armour rather than recycle the ones from the previous shot.

  • I think it's odd that the two leading Space Marines they show are Ultramarines, but the other Marine is a Dark Angel...

  • i support it all the way but could/can be made much much better.

  • MAN!!! Now that's what Space Marines should look like!! Though and proud!
