@CBasie2856 A socialist economy is where the the means of production are held as either common good or union/workers council good, a gift economy is where goods and services are traded as favours and owed favours e.g. you're a doctor and I'm brick layer; I come to you with a dislocated arm which you fix. In any given time in the future you need a small brick wall, since you fixed my arm I will build your wall.
its not just the kind of money system we have in America, but I believe population also has something to do with it. The US should restrict couples to have only one child and use China as an example of the one child only law.
The more the population, the more the consumption of valuable resources. With greedy people and lots of consumption of resources, people are left with scarcity. That's the current state we are heading in with the world.
@CBasie2856 I'm not saying it does, I'm saying if ever will it will be as part of an evolutionary step i.e over a ridiculous amount of time and this assuming the evolutionary step actually allows for this.
@Frasssaanarchy id rather see that there are no spealization of labor, the community designates certain people to certain work details, like five people a day would be designated to cook on any given day, then a different five the next day. Rather than having individual transactions, which is kind of like having money still
What is the difference between a gift economy and a socialist economy?
I heard that they were the same thing.

The question is also how does a gift society work on a large scale? It might work for small communities, but will it work for millions of people?

Good video! I agree that both a market and gift economy would exist together in a truly free society.
