lol, skating off or skateout. haven't heard that term for 20 years. i could sleep on a cold hard deck where ever i could hide for 20 minutes. now, i'm lucky if i can sleep 6 hrs a day.
It's not even like that, most of the time, people are cleaning, . the rest are skating off, and if your lucky enough to have access to the fwd pump room, you can sleep with out getting caught. That is why I love flight ops, you do actual work and it makes time go by faster.

I don't know what navy you were in... but in my Navy, we do have a bit of fun.. even if it's just for 15 minutes out of a 12 hr working day (excluding watches, details, etc...)

You have 'watch' shifts that will keep you up all night at least once or twice per week (on average). You won't be able to sleep well because of all the distractions and disturbances of ship life. The food is terrible.
I can go on and on about why NOT to join. I am begging you to take a pass on the Navy. Don't be a fool like I was.

I worked 12 to 14 hour days, still do but its easier since we came back from deployment a week ago. I screw around all day long and do the best job at the same time. There is NOTHING WRONG with having good time while doing your job. Makes my day easier.

Petty Officer with the gun you call yourself, lets review a couple of things with weapons handling.
- First your weapon is not a toy, its a piece of equipment that issued to you to protect against loss of life, limb and to protect national security assets.
- Secondly, REVIEW OPNAVINST 6110.1H, I am not your CFL but I can tell just by looking at you, that you exceed the Navy's maximum allowable limit for body fat for males under 39 of 22%. Come FY 10, you aren't going to get promoted!

I don't know what navy you were in... but in my Navy, we do have a bit of fun.. even if it's just for 15 minutes out of a 12 hr working day (excluding watches, details, etc...)

I don't want to reveal my rate/job out of privacy concerns. Regardless of your job or rate, though, you will HATE the Navy.
You have 'watch' shifts that will keep you up all night at least once or twice per week (on average). You won't be able to sleep well because of all the distractions and disturbances of ship life. The food is terrible.
I can go on and on about why NOT to join. I am begging you to take a pass on the Navy. Don't be a fool like I was.

I've heard of some pretty strange things that happen underway down in Main Control and the fire rooms.
The only difference with these guys is they probably get more sun that the hole snipes. :)

So by what you're saying is that everybody is suppose to be bored all day long. I've been in Navy for 13 months now, done 7 months deployment. I worked 12 to 14 hour days, still do but its easier since we came back from deployment a week ago. I screw around all day long and do the best job at the same time. There is NOTHING WRONG with having good time while doing your job. Makes my day easier.

Petty Officer with the gun you call yourself, lets review a couple of things with weapons handling.
- First your weapon is not a toy, its a piece of equipment that issued to you to protect against loss of life, limb and to protect national security assets.
- Secondly, REVIEW OPNAVINST 6110.1H, I am not your CFL but I can tell just by looking at you, that you exceed the Navy's maximum allowable limit for body fat for males under 39 of 22%. Come FY 10, you aren't going to get promoted!

Nope. Just stay clean for at least a month prior to shipping off or any announced piss tests. If you do have any recorded drug offenses though they'll find out. Remember, most ofeverything they do is to try to scare the truth out of you...they aren't really very good.
