  • wow every1 is writin paragraphs just enjoi tha vid

  • i was there haha

    i thought it was great

  • wow, stop pretending you guys are good

  • Excuse me buddy, we aren't pretending to be good. We are doing what we love to do, and that is to play drums. I can't judge how good you are because you don't have any videos. Let me ask you this, what grip do you use?

  • ummmmmmm.........traditional, but at least my line can play it with control, unlike the varying stick heights I see in your snare line. And our bass line knows what dynamic contrast is, and they don't beat the living daylights out of their drum heads. Lastly, you are not good if you can back stick and pretend to do a Casey Brohard one handed role. Get back to me when your bass line can diddle, and when your snares can do cheese rolls and keep uniform stick heights.

  • Ok, first of all I had a little while to really prepare for this pep rally so I couldn't really control stick heights in the snare line. My bass line knows dynamics ok so don't assume. The point of this pep rally is to have a lot of energy, yes they may have pounded hard but they were having fun. Where the hell do you see a one handed Casey Brohard roll? Never expect a drumline to know all 40 rudiments and some hybrids. I highly doubt your drumline does.

  • They can play all of the normal rudiments, and you can't expect them to know all the hybrid rudiments, but they can play grandmas and fufives, any decent drumline can play a few hybrids. And sticks heights should be uniform anyway. tell them, 3 inches, 6, 9, 12, any good drumline should be able to keep uniform stick heights, even in a few MINUTES advance!

  • I said some hybrids, I'm not dumb, I know theres a lot of them to remember. I just started working on dynamics this year with my drumline, because each year we've had a shitty captain. I do the 4 basic stick heights and 3 different zones. And they've gone a long way. I'm still teaching them the normal rudiments. A few drummers in my line know hybrids like Herta's and Grandma's. I'm still teaching how to listen to each other. Give me a break I know I have work to do.

  • You know, i have respect for you now. You sound like you know what your talking about, and I might have been a little harsh in some areas. you obviously have still a lot of work to do, but best of luck to you.

  • Hey man, I should've been more open to advice. I appreciate the advice. Thanks for the help. If you have any more advice let me know.

  • I'm guessing you are the first section leader that pushes the drumline. the real affective advice I could offer is to practice ALL throughout winter, thats the #1 way a drumline can get real good, and thoses who don't usually have a lot of members that end up losing their chops. Also, work on different accent patterns to get better stick control.

  • sorry to interrupt your argument (even though you eventually agreed an stuff BUT...

what in the world is Herta or a Grandma? i've heard some pretty crazy rudiments such as chin-cheeses and swiss triplet rudimacue..but what the HELL is a Herta or a Grandma?

if you could tell me how stick, that would be awesome (let alone a count pattern)

i just wanna know...even tho i'm in the front ensemble at my school ^^

  • @cantana23 a herta is like a drag ( LLR RRL) and a grandma is a paradiddle tap but you accent all the lefts.
