The elephant at Wat Phnom Phen is called Sambo. She is a 51 year old female, who can hardly walk because she has severe feet problems. Sambo should NOT be entertaining tourist, least be ridden. She needs to be retired so that she can get the medical care she needs. Check out the website of EARS Asia for details. w w w earsasia org
And please do not ride elephants on their backs in general. It is too weak. If you know how to ride them on their necks, feel free. Else, please walk!
