Jordan... I love Your play, but somethimes i think there are too much notes... Think about it, 'cause this piece is very sad but thru your "fast notes" (appregios) i think you are destroing your own piece.
I think Jordan doesn't give a shit how famous he gets over the internet. As famous as he already is, that's not what's important to him. He creates beautiful music for the sake of beautiful music. It's not important whether or not somebody else gains more fame than him. Enjoy the music, forget about all the other stupid shit. Good day.
The day this man dies, will be the day that the world of pianist's will totaly shift. Along with the other members of Dream Theater, and their respective instruments. Even Mike Portnoy.. Rock on Dream Theater, and Portnoy!
How could anybody seriously dislike this? It's hard for me to imagine somebody so full of anger and hatred that they would find this masterpiece something they dislike. I won't go copying somebodies "Dear YouTube this video has a dislike button, please fix it." crap, I am seriously surprised, astonished that anybody could honestly click dislike and actually sit here and listen and not feel something...

what's happening in Japan is really terrible, so many deaths and still more likely to be discovered. there is so much bad in the world right now, at least we all can come to music for comfort and spiritual/emotional healing
i just can't come up with words for this. i work at burgerking and we always have the news on the TV so i see what is happening nearly every night, there is rarely any good news.
pray people, the world needs it. thank you for the beautiful music Jordan
If the new DT album comes with 1/4 of the feelings of the pieces that this man can create, I'll not miss Portnoy in any single moment. This guy is a genius.
@muclemente people can say what they want and i know portnoy has been the drivng force of DT but to me DT always was petrucci and rudess... love those guys and petrucci wrote as much songs as portnoy, maybe more i am not sure. DT lives on as long as petrucci and rudess are there!!
Jordan, you just keep proving to us what it means to be a true musician. You can play literally anything, along with composing such beautiful pieces. Thank you for all you've done. Keep on rockin' \../.
I would be more blown away If I heard that in the new DT album. Don't wanna get my hopes up but I'v heard your solo album with the DT songs and Thought it was amazing. This was no less beautiful and brilliant.
4 people missed the like button because they were closing their eyes feeling this deep soulful music! Jordan, this is an amazing piece! :D Thanks for making my day.
Jordan, this Beutifull piece simply reaffirms your place as a 21st century composer. 200 years from now as people are still studying Bach, Motzart etc.. The Name Rudess will fall right in there as a requisite name for study!! Brilliant! Jim
@algazino The description says he has been composing it for the last week. So it is not completely improvised (though I wouldn't be surprised if some of the faster runs or other parts were)
It'd be very cool if you could set up a mic to sing into so we can hear what you're saying, or post the lyrics in the description. If you're just using your voice as an instrument, that's cool too :)
I'm one of your fan in JAPAN. Your music changed my view of importance of keyboard through DT. Thanks for creating such a touching music!! ありがとう、心強いです!
you see, THIS is someone who should become famous over the internet. he actually HAS an incredible talent. but instead god-awful crap like Rebecca Black becomes instantly famous for having absolutely NO talent whatsoever and spewing garbage from her mouth. what's wrong with this world?
@aperalers Are you kidding? Dream Theater is a prime example of a band that needs world wide popularity, they are the most talented band out there!!! But yes I agree with you
@aperalers I don't understand why people hate on Rebecca Black so much. Jordan is the biggest musical genius ever, but I don't see how bashing on someone makes your point any better. People like you do it all the time. Yesterday it was Bieber, now it's R. Black. Grow up.
@aperalers I completely agree with you. Jordan already had a following before he joined Youtube, and he still has nowhere near as many views on any of his videos than that stupid "Friday" song does. What's even more sad is the fact that he never will despite his infinite talent :(
Jordan isn't the only amazing person being cheated on the internet. There's many extremely talented musicians like him that deserve much more recognition than they get...
@aperalers In some ways you're correct in thinking people of a talented nature deserve "recognition", but I would assume that someone as humble as JR doesn't care a lick about trivial crap like who has more youtube views or who is "trending" at the time and is more than happy that he's able to write and record music and tour the world with it. I'm not sure if anyone knows this, but generally speaking, musicians of a higher caliber tend to not give two shits about things as superficial as "fame".
@Oinotnaaa Totally agree with you. Many Musicians are driven by different goals. Kanye West wants EVERYTHING. Fame, recognition from critiques, money, awards and most of all his fans (egotistical musician). I commend Kanye West for being able to accomplish this.
Then theres JR who do it for aesthetics. Living comfortably is just a extra bonus to what he loves doing. It takes a lot of luck to be popular with aesthetic values. And once that money boat starts flowing. It can change an artist.
@aperalers PS and as for Rebecca Black *shudders* I invite anyone who sees this to look up "Ark Music Factory" and laugh hysterically at the notion of parents paying two random guys from California thousands of dollars in order for them to whip up a half-assed, brutally terrible pop song and music video in order for their precious little princesses to be "discovered". Ladies and gentlemen, this is a new era for crappy POP music, (not REAL music, it always lives on despite everything else).
@Oinotnaaa Well you gotta commend the small indie label for garnering so much attention. Honestly, this would NEVER have happened 10 years ago. All in all They straight up copied Justin Biebers"Baby"ft ludacris. The chorus, concept and structure. The video/song isn't that polished either. I LOLed when they inserted a middle aged black rapper.
I'm not a hater so i have to say the video/song is cute. I wouldn't mind my 4 year old girl listening to it. Songs for kids. you gotta understand that
@aperalers He doesn't need to become famous over internet, he is the keyboard player at Dream theatre, Jordan upload his dailys videos for people who just enjoy his talent just like me. he is just awesome :D.
@aperalers At least you can respect his talent, and I dont want to sound like a dick cause i realize that some people may just not know of dream theater and such. But how the fuck did 63 people thumbs up your comment about how he should "get famous over the internet" when DT has released like 10 cds?...
I gotta say, Jordan, I enjoy your written pieces much more than your strictly improvisational pieces. No offense to you because of course you are without doubt one of the best. I just feel more relaxed listening to it. Its not as chaotic as the improvs can become. Its all good brotha! Can't wait to hear the next album in DT history!!!!
funny, I always pictured in my head that Jordans piano would be located in some mythical castle spire guarded by some form of flying reptilian creature
I don't usually talk about the people that dislike videos, but honestly, the 2 people that I see disliked this video are heartless. The things that are going on in Japan are really tragic. Jordan Rudess composes a beautiful piece dedicated to the people of Japan, uploads it, and then these two assholes dislike this video? I don't know, but it's sad to know that people can be so rude and unwise to do that.
@risingskater yes those unlucky people in japan have kept their composure but now that a youtube video about a song dedicated to the country has two "dislikes" they will all fall apart.
get over it kid, the people who marked the video down just want to piss you off and by crying you're giving them exactly what they want. You're supposed to just ignore trolls.
@Taiganost I know that these people are trolls, but the fact that they even do this is just rude overall. I say that just to say that it's just wrong of them to make a joke of disliking a video for their own pleasure.
Not to get too sentimental... but if anything, the tragedy in Japan should serve to teach us that no matter our ethnic, lingual, cultural differences, we have a duty to serve our fellow brothers and sisters when in a time of need...
Thanks for sharing this with us, and with all the people in Japan. I love that country as much as my natal country... Thanks :D, You made me cry... We all know everything will be ok... Thanks for caring about Japan...
Hey jordan, it would be cool for you to tell us some of those chord progressions ur using! Im new to piano and i really like ur artwork. I'd like to compose someday so yeah, would be cool to get some chord progressions from the man himself!
@orioneriksen Well, if he's new at it, he's probably not going to be able to figure them out. I've been playing for two years (I'm a noob :) and I don't think I could figure out most of that.
@charleseladas Friendly tip. Try to memorize which intervals going into others sound like. Same with particular chords or general chord progressions. Learn some music theory and trust me, you won't have to ask about chords anymore if you find out what they're suppossed to sound like.

Hey jordan, it would be cool for you to tell us some of those chord progressions ur using! Im new to piano and i really like ur artwork. I'd like to compose someday so yeah, would be cool to get some chord progressions from the man himself!

@charleseladas If you sound them out yourself you learn more, like ear training and a lot of theory.

@charleseladas He has two instructional videos, try to get them, are very useful

@charleseladas Most of the chords he's playing are Normal chords. You want to play chord progressions, learn JAZZ :)
MentalEmanuel 11 months ago
@MentalEmanuel jazz chords are NOT essential in expressing your emotions musically. lmao @ "normal chords"
