All of the Poland and Lithuanian mud slinging makes me sad.
They are both countries with histories a mile long to be proud of. Every country has so much good and bad that its people have done.

After 1990 Poles had shown much support and sensitivity towards the fragile Lithuanian re-born soul, which was abused by double faced Lithuanian authorities by way of officially emphasising 'strategic alliance' with Poland, and gradually suppressing Polish minority in LT at the same time.

@gerietis789 Lithuanian organizations in Poland are involved in organizing cultural life of the minority with libraries, choirs, theatres, etc.. There are also Lithuanian-language programmes on local Polish Radio and Polish TV.
Lithuanians also control the self-government in the Polish region of Puńsk.
What is more I have never heard Polish people saying nasty things about Lithuanians or denying some common heritage.

I don't think Lithuanians are Polish brothers or even cousins, as there's little kinship between the Grand Duchy and present Lithuania. their nationalism in full scope could be clearly seen during WW2 - see Ponary massacre or involvement of 'Askaris' troops in quashing the uprising in Warsaw Ghetto 1943.

that kind of bidding e.g. 'Lithuania is Northern Europe' and 'Poland is Central Europe' makes me laugh. for the likes of Brits or Dutch both countries are considered just Eastern Europe, which is true from their perspective. but if it helps comfort someone's complex ('your shit is less smelly than my shit'), then off you go and call it whatever they like.
