Don't play so hard on it...I want to hear some Jazz drum riffs...you can't be in a jazz/big band with that kind of volume...if you want to make some noise, get a Tama
@SpinalAlloy Wow this video is old. I actually use this kit for a folk band that sometimes gets loud. I have used it for rock and fusion styles, but I actually don't use this kit for jazz. I used a Remo Gold Crown Jazz for jazz purposes. Jazz is fun to play, but I bought this kit to use as a smaller carry-around kit which wouldn't take too much effort getting into my car.
@SpinalAlloy That's what i'm sayin! I bought my Tama Imperialstar to play more metal stuff, and now that i'm getting more into jazz, I was thinking about buying this one - it's a great jazz set, i'm tired of seeing people misuse it.
This kit sounds suupppeerr sick! Great groovin'. I'm definitely looking into one of these kits as a small kit to carry around...thanks for the upload!
Brother I have had this kit about 6 months. I also love it. Very lively and responsive. It sounds exactly like yours. What are you using for your ride in the video? I never have seen a saluda , it has a great washy old school sound to it. Cleveland Johnny
It's really sad and very pitiful how many fools on this website think that people need or want to hear the filth spew from their mouths as if they are trying to embarrass you because your trying to help someone else make a decision on if they want to purchase this drum kit here which if you think about it is pretty pointless and sadistic. You just keep rocking your kit how you like it because nobody in the world should have an opinion greater than your own.
@DynastyPercussion well said dude, i think i actually saw this vid and it swayed me to by one which well its a nice kit ill say that much but i had a bad car crash and a drunk driver hit me so wanted a small kit really which is heaven but people dont be fooled this isnt just a jazz kit it can be used for a great number of musical styles i will say the snair takes a bit of work to get sounding nice but rember this kits very cheep considering what it is.
@DynastyPercussion its your money spend it on what you want, btw i play the exact setup, im not a jazz drummer but i love my kit, gretsch drums are just boobies
@WeLuvSuzy I bought a set of these, to play 60's country and R&R. Had to put on different heads, put a hole in the kick, and a pillow, new snare strainer, wires, and Cast hoop, but it sounds good for our style of music now. The "Jazz" name is really just the preferred size of a jazz kick, an 18", and it is the best part of this set.
Also...your drumming isn't bad, the sparseness gives a clear picture of the tones of the drums. Better than a bunch of really fast stuff. Thanks for posting.
tune those toms right up, your playing a jazz kit not a ludwig john bonham signature! and tighten the bass drum bater head up a bit and add a bit more dampening. keep practicing.
As I said I'm not trying to impress. I'm a lot better than the playing seen in thisand my other videos. I know all the important rudiments and can apply them to the it and spend a lot of time practicing and gigging. I'd like to be better than I am, but that would require time. I'm self-taught if that matters. Though the video would disagree with my abilities, I play a couple of gigs per month and make around $300 doing so. I like to groove and keep the essential beat in songs.
@jklathem man, keep with the hard work, don´t listen to the stupid persons who post offensive things...they just have a lot of time, and use it posting here.
Also, this video is intended for me only as I can not judge how the drums sound like in my practice space due to the harshness of the room. I uploaded this video so people could hear how these drums sound before buying them. Such rude comments are not needed due to the poor videos in which you've never seen me actually play. I do mean to say I'm great by any means, but I am better than what's shown in this video.
@jklathem don't post bad vids of you on youtube simple as that. people WILL give you shit. you say that you just wanted to hear the sound of your drums... well first of all this cameras quality is bad and you coulda just watched it on your camcorder. terrible excuse
@jklathem i thought u were just doing what u said ie showing how they sound people just come on here as there lonely and its something for them to do as in bad mouth others its pretty sad really. but did you keep the same heads on the drums my bass sounds really tiny have you put anything in urs? cheers
@tombrill I actually had the stock heads on it for this video, and just have the batter head around a medium tuning and the resonant head a tiny bit higher than the batter. I have since switched the batter head to an Evans EMAD head with the smaller foam in place, and it's helped control the boom and has given me a punchy sound that's really nice for rock. Without the foam, it's still tuned high and works well for jazz.
The hardware in the video are no-name straight and boom stands. The hi-hat stand is a Pulse stand. The snare snare is a Pearl 900 series. These are just set up at my home practice space.
I use Gibraltar stands when gigging / at the band practice space. The stands I use are 2 flat-base straight stands and 1 flat-base boom stand. I went for the vintage look.

@trecoolmania I just have them to what I would consider a "medium" tuning. It's all about how you like your drums to sound.

@jklathem you need to seriosly do some more refined tuning on those toms they sound like mine :D

A oui là tout de suite on se rend bien compte du son de la batterie.
Mais bon y'a un tel groove que je pense que ça sonnerais pareil sur n'importe quel batterie :D
