If im thinking correctly adding fish to the tanks under the beds could cause harm to the fish in the pond because the water reaching them would never be clean. You could split off the outtakes of the plant beds so that some of the fresh water is reaching the final tank aswell as the semi dirty from the tanks and that should be fine =). The setup is awsome i will be taking a few ideas from that for myself =)
@TeslaSaw thanks. Actually the water is filtered by the grow bed above. No need to split any water pipes. Good luck with your system. Pleased i was able to assist you.
@Kapulfilms How have the shell sandpits been working for beds? i can get these very cheep at my local shops. Or since im paying should i get better? .. Im going to be using an above ground kit pool (framed) for the fish tank, £40 and very large =)
is that enough space for 25 perch? i'm only getting interested in aquaponics and from other videos i thought the ratio would be somewhat lower on the fish for that black tank
@Pratichetti 80-100 perch can grow in the tank no worries. You eat the largets fish first which will provide space for the smaller ones to grow in more
thanks for your comment. Im only just starting with aquaponics however i have set up many development projects in PNG. I was the manager of Baiyer River Wildlife Sanctuary in Mt Hagen WHP & ran Aus Aid funded development projects based in Kainantu EHP. I have previously set up a fish farm in Yonki Dam EHP. Thinking about going back some time soon to installing a few aquaponic systems in a few villages. Check out some of my other you tube videos to see some of my work. I will make more soon.
Great setup, i like how your trying to keep it natural looking, mine looks like some scientific experiment haha but it is experimental too and going well so now its time to start planning a natural looking eco system. whats going on in PNG? i was born there but very young when i came to Australia.

if you mix a little algae with milk in a blender and spray it on a surface it would spread quickly.
i love you design btw
