@fahd090078601 How can anybody be a traitor to something he has no obligation to? He just did what he thought was best for his country. And I personally think the revolution wasn't the best thing that could happen to Russia at that moment. It only rewarded the top elite in the egalitarian society it promised. The revolution only concentrated more means of production in fewer hands, killing millions of comrades in the decates thereafter
@LangeE612 that was because of Stalinist innovations..what comrade lenin did was the ray of hope for poor servile masses of soviet union.how communism ruined in soviet union is depicted by trotsky,. it was stalin who butchered millions not only innocent citizens but also the communists, bolsheviks who were the founders of revolution.
@fahd090078601 ray of hope? i personally think that lenin was german agent, germans wanted to close eastern front and the revolution in russia was like blessing for them. there is no country in the world that would achieve to be developed following lenins teachings.
when you say admiral.... it tells about the sea......i was so hoping for an almost thousand battle at sea.... well anyways the movie itself was awesome i just google the admiral then realize it was an real time event...historically..at least i can watch it on russian point of view not just the americans because they almost all have the movies....i just tried something new and it was awesome!!
An amazing film. I am not a huge fan of Anna - an adulterous who was cruel to Sergi and Alexander's wife and son - but felt sad for her in the end as she was 'cast aside' due to her 'white' past.
To me, in the film, Sergi is the hero. He gives everything and ends with nothing but a cold death. His courage in the face of loss ... now that to me is the hero of our tail.
This is just heartbreaking. And, if I did not misunderstand, the film crew insulted Anna on the set? Was it because she was a leftover White? Or was the guy just rude?
It was a “normal” behavior of the big shot movie manager. He doesn’t care who she is. Just as he said – he needs a properly looking (aristocratic) face. However, her dubious status played the negative role. They were afraid they might get in trouble.
@IgorAdmiral I'm sorry, I don't understand. Trouble for what? And was that part of the story? The main character being insulted in the retelling of her story?
These guys were making a movie about tsarist's time. Let's say it was “War and Peace” (btw, it was shot by the father of the guy who plays a big shot producer in this scene :). She is not telling them her story. She is invited only because of her aristocratic past. ("where would I get the face like this?") These guys dug more about her past and found out that she was deeply connected with the enemy of the revolution. They are afraid her past can hurt them and their picture.
@IgorAdmiral Would they be hurt by the gov't or by audiences being disinterested in the story? And by her face, did he mean that she looks aristocratic? Or wealthy? Or like she has been through an incredible ordeal? I didn't recognize her from any other scene.
Sorry for all the questions, Chuvok, I only know what I read about Russian history in school. Not much, not enough.
government or specifically communist party can be "insulted" by her participation (don't forget Stalin died about a decade ago). it can result in all kinds of trouble.
Noble person has a very distinctive behavior. Everything - looks, speech, image tell you of the special breed. Compare the average "red neck" and average person who had multiple generations graduated from Ivy League.
Were you trying to call me Chuvak (чувак)? LOL. If you did you kind of missed the mark. This word was invented by Soviet hipsters in 50th. It is an abbreviation Человек УВажающй Американскую Культуру (person respecting American culture). I can hardly qualify for such term. Don't get me wrong but I'm indiferent about it...
I admit, we used it when I was growing up until I found out the meaning. Not any more :^)
@IgorAdmiral Da, I was. Every Russian friend I have has a different meaning for that word. Usually they say it means "dude" (informal way of saying person or guy). One pal claims a chuvok is a castrated goat. I was just trying to be friendly and funny. ;o)
the whole story that we see in the movie is going through her memory and in front of ouyr eyes. these guys don't know anything except she was in love/married to the enemy of the revolution...
What a brilliantly shot film, what a moving story. Russia never ceases to amaze. Its history is astonishing. Thank you very much for uploading this excellent piece of work.
Many thanks for posting it with english subtitles !!

not to mention their ability to be open swingers even in the face of revolution and turmoil.
