  • The best show singer is Ethel Merman.Thank you

  • where can i get the full movie?? please help me i need it for my project at school

  • @CzarAice01 Movies Unlimited..12.00

  • What a set of pipes

  • One of my favorite films. Corny by today's standards but great songs and story. Thanks for posting.

  • gawwd! I cried the first time i saw this part of the movie... Always gives me goosebumps!

  • Ethel Merman always gives me energy with the amazing voice which I never mistake for another.

  • Back in those days they really knew how to end a movie with a closing number to end all closing numbers. This one is Hollywood at its finest. Because people who go to movies today seem to need outrageous behavior and irony to feel entertained, we have to go back to these classics from many years past.

  • @MrMbell2>>Im ENTITLED to my opinion >Ethel Merman is not everyones cup of tea. Her voice was just awful grating and horrid .God this world would be boring if we all agreed with one another and no one had any choice or freedom on who they liked or disliked .Why dont you SHut up!

  • @MsPelicanus Why are you a hater? Why are you watching ? I don't like Snop Dogg but I ain't watching either. Hitler was entitled to his opinion also, it was just wrong.

  • Marilyn Monroe looked beautiful in that dress.

  • Thumbs up if you want Glee to cover this

  • orig Mitzi said Marilyn sucked, but now Mitzi says diff. based on the assumption, Susan Strasberg says Marilyn used to do a hilarious exact imitation of Mitzi. It must have been adorable.

  • dan dailey, mitzi, and donald oconnor and hugh obrian were all good but isnt marilyn the only reason anyone watches the movie. surprised no mention of her here.

  • @MovieMusicFun1 Not necessarily. The first time I saw any part of this film was the number "Lazy" and it was Mitzi I couldn't keep my eyes off of. I knew Marilyn was supposed to be the star, but in my eyes, Mitzi was the star and the great beauty. Still can't keep my eyes off of her and when I think of this movie, Marilyn is a foreign thought to me. Now, if this were, say "How to Marry a Millionaire", I'd feel differently.

  • def agree about mermans voice! horrible!!! my father was really old and he thought her disco album was totally horrible. just had the nerve to make it.

  • I wonder what Ethel was like in real life, a Ms. Marcus or a Mrs. Donahue?

  • Magical.

  • WTF ETHEL MERMANS VOICE IS AWFUL!!!

  • @MsPelicanus lol I was just thinking that :D

  • @MsPelicanus Shut up bitch.

  • They were performers, true stars in the show business and there is not doubt about it but, when Marilyn Monroe appeared in the final scene you cannot take your eyes out her. And that is true. No offense! Even the camera followed her. The producers knew they needed a sparkling star to get out of the routine and they got Marilyn!

  • In those days, there were no computers, no mobiles, no trick photography, no computer graphics, no special effects but oh boy did they know how to put on a show or what. I wish I had been a little older in those days then I would have appreciated it far more but thank God its been preserved and is still being watched today.

  • @MrKeyboardman1

The were "special effects" and "trick photography" in 1950s,. "The Ten Commandments " is just one example of a special effects laden film . The difference is that MGM and other major studios knew how to put on lavish, highly entertaining musicals that convincingly combined great musical numbers with some excellent acting. It didn't hurt that these movies also featured Marilyn Monroe and other glamorous Hollywood stars who could woo audiences from their television sets.

  • This is just one the of greatest classics! I always cry.... incredible! Thank you!

  • please !! when i whatch this movie ?????

  • Love it !!!

  • Awwww these classics, they don't make them like this anymore...

This is sheer pleasure to watch...

such character, such glamour, such beauty....i've seen this film and the circumstances leading to the finale and it is indeed one of the best endings i've ever seen in movie history..i cried too with the happy outcome and all the dancing and lavish costumes as the film finishes with the full orchestra & the main cast singing the title song...all i can say is SUPERB,ABSOLUTELY SUPERB !!! :-)

  • It is from "There is No Business Like Show Business," a fun msucial with great songs. Thanks for this post.

  • is this annie get your gun

  • Still makes me cry.

  • Always loved this movie and Ethel Merman, FANTASTIC SONG!!

  • Never get tired of this one.

  • The cowboys, the tumblers, the revelers, the clowns!

The roustabouts who move the show at dawn!

The music! The spotlights! The people! The towns ---

The thrill of that applause when you go on!

You're standing out in front on opening night,

And there's your billing right up there in lights!

  • How do you know when someone has one of thoose once in a lifetime singing voices? When that voice has the power to be heard over an entire chorous number and in tune. now THATS Ethel Merman

  • I think people forget just how beautiful a woman Ethel Merman was. She's quite a good looking woman, and while she is a loud singer...she has perfect pitch. Perfect pitch is very, very rare.

  • seen the movie numerous times, Always brings a tear to my 75year old eyes

  • I lost my heart to Donald for good :))))))))

  • Terrific! Ethel belting it out of the park, and the rest brought a tear to my eye (even though I haven't seen the movie itself)!

  • they use to call these, alienation, I say it pure happiness! Thank you for sharing!

  • Ich bin ein Berliner.

  • I thought that this excerpt was a real tonic. It was good to see stars of yesteryear at their peak.

  • This is one of my favorite movies.

  • its ok

  • i was thinking about your coment and i think its so true and it was a good way of puting it together

  • @godfather118118 Thank you!

  • And Donald was just a GOOD actor!

  • Aren't they great, Ethel and Donald?

  • @catwomanpl1 i love donold o connor i think at donold could give gene kelly a run for his money

  • @godfather118118 Right. Somewhere else I compared Donald to a twig in the wind - he was so light, he seemed to float in the air when dancing; Gene - to a branch - he was heavier, not so easily moved, and his dancing didn't seem so spontaneous.

  • @godfather118118 No doubt about it. Donald makes dancing look so easy (other than his flips). I personally think Gene Kelly makes dancing look like a lot of work.
