@MultiDevan13 I do not believe this is possible as the Radeon HD 4200 is on-board graphics and the 560 Ti is a dedicated graphics card. The new 560 Ti will override the HD 4200 and disable it.
@rslulzim8 You can go to AMD's website and have it do an auto-detect of your radeon graphics card and it will download drivers for your operating system.
@asdfme If you had a separate graphics card from another manufacturer, then you will want to uninstall the old drivers and start clean with just a general driver detection from Windows. If the old graphics card driver is from on-board, then most likely the generic drivers will still get detected after uninstalling them until the drivers for the new video card are installed. If something goes wrong, you can always get the drivers for the old card from the manufacturer.
@dmmadmin2 I'm thinking of upgrading my ATI Radeon HD 5450 to an ATI Radeon HD 6850, so since they're both Radeon cards, I wouldn't need to uninstall any drivers? Just install the new card?
@asdfme I would still remove the current drivers for the 5450 just in case to prevent any conflicts or problems when installing the new 6850 video card for a "clean" install. Because you are jumping in series from 5000 to 6000, you will want to uninstall the old drivers and reinstall the new drivers. If you were going from the 5450 to say the 5670, then you do not have to uninstall the drivers as the drivers would be within the same range of family of cards.
i have the Radeon 6290 HD, i cannot find it on ASUS website or AMDs website, where can i donwload my drivers from? also im on laptop ASUS x53u 4gb ram
@TamedBlueMonkey The manufacturer of your computer will most likely have the drivers for your video card if it is a laptop. Try going to their site and locate the drivers based on the model number of your laptop.
i have dell inpiron n5010, i had installed drivers as shown in video. but when i play the games like nfs shift or sniper ghost warrior. it is very slow and stuck stuck suck second after second. what to do on my friend laptop this games works smooth....
@DJ903300 I would check the specifications that your friend has for his laptop, especially the graphics card in his laptop. If his laptop has a dedicated HD graphics card from Intel or AMD, compared to your generic graphics card you have on your Inspiron n5010 laptop, then that, along with processor and memory, may be the reason why his laptop can run the games better than yours. If that is the case, then you may have to get a better laptop since laptop graphics can't be switched out.
When i finish the installation it says Install finished - warnings occured during install and then i find out that nothing was installed at all -any idea?
@Bukac987 You may want to check in Device Manager first under the section labeled "Display Adapters" to see if our video card detects properly. If it does, then just try downloading the drivers only from AMD's website for your video card, but make sure to remove any software that got installed on your computer first before downloading. If that does not work, then I would try installing the video card on another computer to see if you get the same problem.
@joecoolbackinschool It could be because of either the video card is not getting enough power, the slot the video card is in is bad, or there may be a compatibility issue with the motherboard and the video card. I would try installing the video card on another computer and if it does not detect on another computer, then you have a hardware failure on the video card and it should be replaced. If it works on another computer, then I would check your system.
@kopie50 If you need to download the drivers, you can go to AMD's website and click on "Support & Drivers". From there, you can have AMD auto-detect the card you have installed on your computer and it will download the drivers for you.
@Twenman The "M" in the 6470M represents mobility, which means that you are either using a laptop, or have integrated video on your desktop. The drivers for that type of video card, along with the software you are supposed to use, can be found by using the installation disc that came with your computer, or by going to the computer manufacturer's website and downloading their drivers.
I have a Dell Inspiron 530, standard factory pc :/ with a 300 watt psu, i see a little thing on the graphics card, that appears something could be connected to it, is there a wire or sometihng that connects onto the gpu itself? :S
@flyinggrandmas Depending on the video card you have, it may require additional power from your power supply in order to run the video card. You may want to contact the manufacturer of the video card to find out if the card you have requires power to be plugged in externally from your power supply to run the video card.
It says Installation Complete for me, but with a "?" instead of a "check mark" ... thus the installation did not work and i do not have the Catalyst installed. PLEASE HELP me SOMEONE. I just bought a new ATi gpu.
@flyinggrandmas I would first check to see if the drivers for the new video card got installed correctly or not as that is what allows all other programs on your computer to view movies and play games with. Head for the Device Manager and verify that the new video card shows up under "Display Adapters". If it does show up, then if you are also going to play games, run the Direct X Diagnostic Tool ("dxdiag" from the Start Menu) to make sure the new card shows up there as well.
@flyinggrandmas (cont.) If it shows up there, then the card will be okay to run games and watch movies. You may also want to check AMD's website and just download the Catalyst Control Center only from their site to see if it installs on your computer. Also, make sure you have Windows up to date as some components for installing Catalyst on your computer do require applications from Microsoft, such as .NET Framework.
Nice vid, dmmadmin2. But unfortunately for me Catalyst Center wont start on my computer. I've been sitting here in 8 hours trying to figure out how to fix it, Someone who knows what to do? This is making me so fucking sad.... lol.. Acer Aspire 5810TG, ATI RADEON HD 4330 GRAPHICS 512 MB. Intel Core 2 Solo processor 1.4 GHz, 800 MHz FSB, I would appreciate an answer, fucking thank you in that case. OMFG......
@dilanag I would contact the manufacturer of your laptop to see if they have the restoration or driver installation disc that came with your computer. You can also go to AMD's website to look for drivers for your video card and download Catalyst from there.
@segomil If the previous drivers for the video card are disabled, then as long as the new video card is detected, there is no need to go into the BIOS to disable the on-board video from there. However, if the new video card does not get recognized by Windows and outputs at least some image on the new video card, then you may have to go into the BIOS to disable the on-board video as well.
@MrDJHarbinger If you had a card from nVidia and switched to a video card from AMD, I would recommend removing the previous drivers before installing the new ones. If you are simply moving from one AMD card to another AMD card, the drivers will update to reflect the changes. However, it is usually a good rule of thumb to remove the drivers for your previous video card before installing drivers for your new card so that there are no system conflicts.
i installed my graphics card but it cant detect it. am i supposed to put my monitor on the graphics card? or connect it to my computer, its currently connected to my computer...
@cookies4lifeo I would check your Device Manager first to make sure that the video card is not being detected in another section. If it is being seen as an "other device" or as a "Standard Video Graphics Controller", then the drivers may not be installed for the video card yet. If the card does not show up at all in Device Manager, check to make sure that the card is installed correctly and any necessary cables, such as those for power to the card, are plugged in.
@dmmadmin2 (cont.) If that still does not work, try installing the video card in another computer to see if you get the same problem. If you do, then contact the video card manufacturer as you may have a defective unit. If the card is detected on another system, I would try updating the drivers for the motherboard to see if it fixes the problem. You may also want to make sure that the system you are using meets the minimum requirements for the video card to work.
I really, really Have to give you an A+ for this! Taking your time making this video for people like me who only have a slight idea of what they're doing when it come to things like this! Thank You! ~ video card lifesaver!
i installed a old ati driver for my sims 2 but i forgot the uninstall my new driver now when i playing sims 2 ,my pc reseting what can i do now ? pls help guys
@aponinja1 Try to see if you can boot into "Safe Mode" by pressing F8 on your keyboard before Windows loads. From there, remove the current driver and then restart the computer. If the video is stable, then try to install the updated version of drivers by either going to the video card manufacturer's website, or AMD's website, and download their latest drivers for your video card. If it still gives problems, try installing the video card in another computer to see if you get the same problem.
@MercenaryArek I would try the 5750 on another computer to see if it detects on that system. If the card does detect fine on another computer, then you may have a problem with the PCI Express slot on your motherboard. In which case, you may need to contact the computer or motherboard manufacturer to have the unit replaced. Otherwise, if the video card does not work on another computer, then you may want to contact the video card manufacturer and get a replacement as the card may be bad.
@TOJxKiLLSTeaLeR I would try doing a manual installation of the drivers if you already have downloaded them from the video card manufacturer's website. To do this, you would do a Windows Driver Update from Device Manager and tell the computer to look at your computer for the files it needs to install the drivers for your video card. If this does not work, I would check to see if the card is being detected by trying to install it on another computer to see if you get the same problem.
@dmmadmin2 thanks 4 your quick response =)ok so i checked the log and it says.Existing packages: AMD Catalyst Install Manager, Packages for install
HydraVisionFinal Status: Success
Version of Item: 4.2.184.0
Size: 6 Mbytes
Other detected devices
Error messages so im guessing the onbord is still being noticed since it says other detected devices and just 2 allaborate is it ok that i am only using a normal VGA cable insted of a DVI? ps. im not sure how 2 chek my bios im a tech noob =/
@HerpDerp8196 If the card has a VGA port on it, then you should be fine. If you really want to use DVI, you can purchase a VGA to DVI adapter to plug into the DVI port on the video card using your VGA monitor. If you need help in accessing your BIOS, contact the manufacturer of your computer, if you bought it at a store, or the manufacturer of the motherboard, if you or someone else custom built the computer.
when i try to install my drivers for my card, it says... install complete ( warnings occurred during install) view log for details...i think it detects other devices, but i disabled my onboard video. another problem that may be related is that when i try to plug my monitor into my graphics card, nothing shows up. i am using a standard VGA cable which may be the problem, im not really sure what to do =/. would really appreciate some help please.
@HerpDerp8196 You may want to check the log to see if there were problems with installing some component of the software, such as the drivers or the Catalyst Control Center. Also, if you plug your monitor back into the on-board and get video from it, then you may have to disable or change the Primary Video Adapter setting within your system BIOS as it may still think you are using on-board. I would refer to your computer documentation for accessing BIOS or contact the manufacturer for assistance
@HerpDerp8196 (cont.) on how to access the BIOS. You may want to try installing the video card in another computer, if you can locate one, to see if you get video from the card being installed in that system. If it works, then there may be either compatibility issues with your system and that card, or the slot the card was in could be failing. You can also contact the manufacturer of your video card to see if they can assist you with your problem.
@1GreatWinner I would make sure that you have downloaded all necessary updates from Windows Update. The Microsoft Visual C++ pack is an available download from Microsoft's website and if it does not install onto your computer for some reason, you can download the pack from Microsoft's website by doing a search for it on the web. If you still have problems with installing or downloading the Microsoft Package, you can contact Microsoft to see if they can help you.
@FeaRTutorials3D Purchasing cables for a video card are only needed if you are trying to plug in multiple monitors to one video card, if you do not already have the cables, or if the card you purchased requires external power from the power supply to run the video card and you power supply does not have these cables on it by default. As for memory on the video card, more is better since it allows applications that deal with graphics to access it rather than system memory.
@RiboPS3 If it is lagging during the installation process for the Catalyst Control Center, it is possible that the drivers are installing for the video card. If it continuously lags when installing, you may want to try and manually install the drivers for the video card by updating driver software and search for the drivers on your computer. With AMD video cards, the location is in a folder under the path labeled C:/ATI/Support/"Driver Version"/Packages/Drivers/Display.
@dmmadmin2 i click install > express > next > accept, then it doesn't do anything and if i click anywhere, it says (on top of the browser) ATI Install Manager (or something) is not answering, what should i do? it really pisses me off
@TheJoshuaGuy321 It is possible that the installation is still running or installing components onto your computer. If you quit the installation in the middle of the process, it may or may not be installing the drivers for the video card. That being said, as long as the video card drivers get installed and Device Manager sees the card as an ATI video card, then you do not need to install the Catalyst Control Center if you are using the card for basic video tasks or light gaming/DVD playing.
@TheJoshuaGuy321 (cont.) You can try downloading individual drivers for the video card by going to AMD's website and when selecting the drivers, just click on the "Individual Drivers" tab and download the Display Drivers only to allow the card to work with most standard video applications and games. This will not install the Catalyst Control Center on your computer, but will allow you to use the video card.
i have a graphics card called "Sapphire Radeon HD 6790".
this is not detected on my PC. the fan spins in my computer so i know the graphcis card is powerd.when i go to "devmgmt.msc" i see "ATI Radeon 3100 Graphics" in display adapters insted of Sapphire Radeon HD 6790.i have a onbord graphisc card and there is no other graphics card plz help me i dont know what to do! :(
@saeid114 Even though the fan spins, it still may not detect due to not having the proper connections plugged in for the card or just not having enough power to run the card. I would make sure that all power connections required for the video card are connected to the power supply first and then make sure you have an adequate power supply that can run this card. You can contact the manufacturer of the video card for more information.
@saeid114 (cont.) I would then make sure to disable or modify the on-board video within your system BIOS next as this may be the reason that the card is not recognized: the default video card port may still be set to on-board. I would also try the video card in another slot if it is available, or another computer, to see if you get the same problem.
@saeid114 If the card works, on another computer without making any other changes, then the card may be working okay, but the issue may be due to compatibility between your motherboard and this video card. The same can also be said if you have another video card that works in the same system other than the 6790 in addition to the 6790 working on another computer.
@saeid114 If the card does not work on either system, then you have a bad card and you should contact the manufacturer of the video card to get a replacement.
@turbanatorstudios Windows will load generic drivers to give you basic video if it detects your new video card. That being said, you can download the drivers either before installing the card (to save time depending on your internet connection if you do not have the installation disc for your video card) or after installing the card (to verify that the video card itself is detected). In our video, I downloaded them before installing the graphics card to save time.
@H3Survivors You may want to make sure that the on-board video has been disabled as there may be a conflict between the new video card and the old one. I would also try installing the video card with the same drivers on another computer and if there is a problem when installing on another computer, then there may be a problem with the video card. If the card installs fine on another computer, then you may have an issue with your system.
@PIKACHU49386 It depends on the manufacturer as drivers can be made available either in a disc format, or automatically install from Windows once the device plugs in to your computer. For video cards, the manufacturer includes the installation disc for their card, but Windows can also load generic drivers for the video card to give you basic video as long as it can identify that you have a video card installed on your system.
When I install this catalyst thing on my computer it somehow made my games lag uncontrollably, so I uninstalled it. (not knowing drivers for ATI were called catalysts at that time) it got rid of everything. So I'm now trying to find the right things to dowload. It keeps saying Standard VGA Graphics Adapter, and no matter what I download from the AMD website it never gives me a graphics driver even if it lists it. Thus saying your dont have the right hardware/software, wrong adapter.
@JavaBasher I would try downloading the individual drivers for your graphics card from AMD's website and install them without Catalyst to see if you get the same problem. You may try uninstalling and re-scanning the computer for hardware changes within Device Manager and then install the drivers to see if the card works as the problem may be with an incorrect detection of the graphics card. I would also try re-seating the video card, or put in in another PC, to see if you get the same problem.
@dmmadin2, I have winodws 7 64 bit running by bootcamp and I get a generic pnp monitor aswell as generic drivers seen in this video, but when I put in the apple installation driver cd it does not make anything better other than the correct resolution, could you help because im trying to install the correct ati catalist drivers but nothing happens msg me please.
@ImprovedAtom Running an ATI video card on a Mac using Bootcamp for Windows may not be supported depending on the manufacturer. You may want to try downloading the individual driver download instead of the Catalyst Software Suite from AMD's website and install just the drivers only as this may be the easiest way to get the card to work through Bootcamp on a Mac. If the drivers install, then you can at least control the resolution without problems.
@ImprovedAtom You may want to contact the manufacturer of the card you are trying to install to see if it will work on a Mac computer as Apple tends to have proprietary cards they use with their computers.
Thats weird, i dont get the reebot option window.Im having problems with the graphic card driver, it is ATI Mobility Radeon 9600 Win7 32bit. Can you help me plz?
@arieiv5 You can restart your computer anyways if the device is not showing up under Display Adapters within Device Manager. If the mobility 9600 shows up after this, then you should be fine. Otherwise, I would check to see if there are updated drivers on AMD's website to download for the card.
@evolosoft If you have an ATI/AMD graphics card, I would try to download just the drivers only for your video card from AMD's website. Also, try going back to using older drivers depending on the video card that you have. Make sure also that if you have on-board graphics card in your computer, disable it first before continuing with the installation.
@evolosoft I would also try the new card in another slot and another system to see if you get the same problem because you may have a corrupt operating system or a defective video card. You can always contact the card manufacturer if you are running into problems with your video card to see if it is compatible with your system or not.
Hi I just have a question. When uninstalling my GFX card do I have to uninstall the drivers or will the new card drivers patch over it. And when and if I remove the drivers what will happen?
@PCGamer1471 If you are replacing the GFX card with the same model, then simply swapping out the cards will not require you to uninstall drivers. However, to be safe, it is recommended to remove the drivers and install the correct ones for you video card. When you remove the drivers, the video card will simply revert back to generic drivers loaded by Windows, which will still allow you to see an image on your computer. After which, you can install the correct drivers for your new video card.
@jameeble First check to see if the display drivers for your video card got installed within Device Manager. If they did, then you can try to download just the Catalyst Control Center from AMD's website and install it on your system. If the install still does not load Catalyst for some reason, then check Windows Updates to make sure you are fully up to date. You may want to contact the manufacturer of the video card you purchased to see if they can offer you some solutions to your problem.
@vinayak678 Normally, you will not need to disable the BIOS if the installation goes smoothly as everything can be done outside of the BIOS within Windows. If the driver installation runs into problems where the new video card is not working properly, and the on-board video has been disabled within Windows, then you may have to go into your BIOS to check the settings for the video card. At that point, you should disable your BIOS password and just check the settings for the default video card.
@codmwlover If your computer does not require you to restart your machine, then just verify in Device Manager that the video card is now detecting correctly and is not saying "Standard VGA Controller". Right-click on "Properties" if you are using Windows for the device listed under "Display Adapters" in Device Manager and just check the Device Status to see if it is working properly. It may prompt you to restart the computer if you access Device Manager through this way.
Hello, I bought brink and it had alot of lagg, i tryed to update the drivers to 11.5 but i got a bluescreen, (Got a Asus G73JH) When i started it up again it showed that it was installed i lanched Brink and it actually work, but then the Display Device wouldnt work anymore and freezed my laptop. So now i got 8.683.0.0 windows because that one doesnt make my laptop freeze and so on. But Now I cant play brink at all because it says i dont have the OpenGL 3.1 or a newer so can you please help me?TY
@gleative Based on the specs I pulled up on your laptop, I found that the Mobility Radeon HD 5870 video card supports up to OpenGL 3.2. You may want to try another game on your laptop that also requires OpenGL 3.1 or higher (such as Left4Dead series, Half-Life series, Minecraft to name a few) to see if you get the same problem. If you downloaded the drivers from AMD's website, then I would try removing them and going with the drivers from the original installation disc that came with your laptop
@starwars910 I am doing the installation normally on Windows without having to be in Safe Mode. Even though the drivers are not installed yet at this point, the card is being loaded by the operating system with generic drivers that give you at least some video on the screen. Once the drivers get installed, the resolution of the video can be changed, or Windows may automatically adjust the resolution for you.
@gleative If the driver still does not install, then make sure that the mobility card is being detected and is working properly within the Catalyst Control Center. You can also try uninstalling and reinstalling Brink if another game on your PC works on your laptop. If this still does not work, I would contact ASUS or AMD to see if they can assist you as the problem may be with the chipset on the motherboard of your laptop.
@MultiSnoopDawg If you have the installation disc that came with your graphics card, then you will be able to install the drivers and the software without having to connect to the internet. If you do not have, or if there is a problem with reading on your computer, the disc, then you can either download a version from the internet, or contact the manufacturer of your graphics card and request a replacement installation disc.
@dmmadmin2 well thx, i think i found out myself after thinking about what you said in the vids, bit that onboard reader, you know that made the pc work with no card, if the pc had a card with it and no such onboard thing, can i then just strait install the disc?
@MultiSnoopDawg That is correct. You can install right from the installation disc for your graphics card if you have no on-board video card installed physically in your computer.
Hey I just installed 11.4 for my G73JH. I uninstalled catalyst control manger 11.3 and the comp restarted and then I installed 11.4. How do I know it worked?
@abbath1586 Open your Catalyst Control Center and check under "System Information". From there, look under "Software" and if the version of Catalyst says "11.4", then the installation was successfully updated.
@weedyak If your computer came with on-board video, make sure you plug to it first as some machines will not automatically detect a new card immediately upon installing it. Make sure your monitor cables and monitor are working properly. Try another slot for your video card in your computer if there is one available or another computer to see if you get video. It is possible that there is a problem with the video card, but first try to see if it is just a problem with a loose connection.
Hi, I just got the HD 5770 and been trying to make it work all day. I mean it does work but I haven't been able to make it work right. No matter what I do my onboard video still has conflicts with my newer card and thus cpu usage is at 50% most of the time without doing anything. I even uninstall both drivers compelety and did the same steps, yet they are still in conflict and raise my cpu to 50% avg. please can you help.. the onboard is a HD 3200
@berylin12 Uninstalling the device will cause it to be re-installed when you restart your computer. If you are still having problems after trying to disable the on-board video within Windows, you may have to disable the on-board video within your motherboard's BIOS, which starts up before Windows loads on your computer. In which case, consult your motherboard documentation or contact the manufacturer of your computer to learn how to disable the built-in video card through the system BIOS.
I had an an xfx ati radeon hd 4650 graphics card, i was upgrading to a 5770.
I had only 250watts but I needed 450+. I guess I overloaded my pc or something because I took it out put back my 4650 in, and it doesn't work anymore I tried installing the drivers again but I don't know where and the cd won't let me it just says download them at xfxforce.com, did I burn out my pci slot or something?
I am running on the integrated graphics at the moment and I want to know.
@bamazudi If you had a built-in video card on your motherboard, then it is possible that your motherboard reverted back to its default settings when you took out the 4650 the first time. If you motherboard came with on-board video, try plugging a monitor into that and see if you get video without a card in your system. If you do not, then you probably have a defective motherboard. You can also try your 4650 on another computer to see if you get the same problem of no video, or if the card works.
@dmmadmin2 hey man when I click on device manager the graphics display device does not come up and this is a big problem and I dont know how to resolve this
@zxEPiiKiLL3Rxz If the card does not come up as even a "Standard VGA Controller" under either "Other Devices" or "Display Adapters" within Device Manager, then make sure the card is fully inserted into your computer. You will want to try another slot in your computer where the video card goes into and try another computer to see if you have a bad video card or if you have a bad slot on your motherboard.
Hey , when i connect my graphics card and plug my monitor into it, it works for about 5 mins and then i get no signal to monitor. If i plug my monitor into on-board with the gpu in my motherboard get no sinl at all, can you help ?
@kupazmaslemutube Try taking out the graphics card and then connect your monitor to the on-board GPU. If you still get no video on your monitor, then try another monitor, another monitor cable, and try your video card on another computer. If the card does not work on another computer, then you may have a defective video card and it should be replaced. If the card does work on another computer, then you have a bad motherboard and it needs to be replaced.
@Xtr3m3z33 You will want to disable it to prevent video card conflicts within your system. It can also take care of issues where you either receive system lockups when Windows loads or when you no longer see your Start Menu on your desktop. This is because even with disabling the on-board in Windows, the System BIOS still takes precedence over your operating system since it boots first. Usually the disabling is being done automatically when you put the video card in your computer.
Hi. I have a big problem. When I try to install the drivers it's all fine, up untill the process finishes. Then an error pops up saying "No AMD graphics driver is installed. or the AMD driver is not functioning properly. Please install the AMD driver appropriate for your AMD hardware". Even though I selected Windows 7 64bit drivers. I have also tried all other drivers on the website for my product with the same error. Not even the CD drivers work. Please Help?
@HiiPeRSniiPeR I would first check with the manufacturer of your video card to see if it is compatible with Windows 7 64-bit. If it is, then I would check to make sure you are running Windows 7 64-bit and not Windows 7 32-bit. Then I would check to see if you have the latest motherboard BIOS updates from your computer or motherboard manufacturer's web site. You may also want to try doing a Windows Driver Update within Device Manager to manually install the drivers for your video card.
@lohzhen If you are having problems installing ATI software, try installing individual drivers for your video card first and not the entire software package. If this works, then try installing the Catalyst software on your computer. If the ATI software works fine with your card on another computer, then you may have to re-install your operating system to fix the problem.
Hi. I also have a problem with my graphics card. After installed everything properly, and after downloading the drivers everything seems to big twice the size it should be.but when i unistall the drivers everything goes back to its normal size. Some help and answers would be greatly appreciated, thanks.
@DoeBoyy21 You will want to check the resolution that is set for your display to see if you can adjust it to make the screen normal in size. If this does not work, try switching the cables that connect from the monitor to the video card. It could be possible that Windows loads the current drivers for your graphics card and the ones you are using may be an older version. Check Device Manager after uninstalling the drivers to see if there are problems under Display Adapters for our device.
@DoeBoyy21 You may have an issue with how your graphics card scales the image within the software for the video card. I would contact the manufacturer of your video card and see if they can help you change the options to get it to scale correctly. Try installing your video card in another computer to see if you get the same problem with the resolution. If you do not, then there may be something wrong with your PC. If you get the same problem, then you may have a hardware issue with your card.
@DoeBoyy21 If there are no problems with the device within Device Manager, then Windows installed the drivers through Windows Driver Update and your video card should work without problems.
Hey, I have a big problem. I installed the drivers which were on the CD that came with the graphics card. My PC starts up after I installed the drivers but i can't play any games with the new graphicscard :/ What did i do wrong??? :/
@BananaOwn You may want to check the system requirements for your game to make sure the card you have will work. If the card meets the requirements to play the game, then I would try testing the card on different slots or a different computer to make sure that your system fully detects the card so that your game will see it and load properly.
@killjoy8244 You can uninstall the drivers, but I do not think that will fix this problem. It may be an operating system issue or a hardware failure with the 5670. If you have another PCI-e video card, try it in place of the 5670 to see if you get the same problem. Windows should detect a video card and install basic drivers for the card from within the operating system. If the video card still does not detect when installing drivers, then you may have a problem with your system.
@killjoy8244 If the replacement video card detects and installs drivers, then there is a problem with the 5670 video card. In which case, try also installing the 5670 in another computer if you have one available to confirm the problem follows the video card. Also, you may have a problem with your motherboard not being able to communicate with the cards properly. In which case, try updating your motherboard BIOS to the most current version to see if it fixes your problem of detecting the card.
Hey im having a big problem and you are the only one iv found who has been helpfull to people. I bought a new graphics card ( Radeon HD 5670) and my comp meets the requirements. But after i put the card in and plug my moniter into the graphics card and try to download drivers a error pops up saying i dont have AMD hardware even in my computer. when i go to dvcmanager there isnt even a " display adapters" tab. i have onboard graphics card and i made sure to disable that threw device manager
I have a NVIDIA GeForce 8400 GS 512MB DDR2 PCI graphics card. I believe that I have installed it correctly and before I installed my graphics card I looked for the old graphics card so I can disable it and did not find it so I continued installing my new one.I didnt have any problems with my new graphics card until I restarted it after installing it and when I restart my computer everything works fine until it goes to my desktop I get a black screen on my monitor and I have my monitor's power on
@XxThechamp219xX There may be a problem with your card or with your motherboard. You may want to try updating your BIOS by using your on-board video to see video on your screen. If possible, try your NVIDIA card on another computer to see if you get the same problem. If you do have the same problem, then there may be a problem with your video card. If the video card works fine, then something else in your system is causing the video to be lost after loading into the desktop.
I have a problem where i install new ATI drivers my monitor dims out for some reason, i'm using 10.6 and it gives nice brightness but when i upgrade my brightness dims out... any solutions?
@Claymore2408 Brightness usually can be changed within the monitor's own settings through the configuration menu. I would check that first and then try updating your drivers to the most current version of Catalyst, which is 10.11.
@dmmadmin2 Thanks for getting back to me, the brightness from the monitor setting wasn't a issue it was 100% when it dimmed, but i've deleted everything from ATI after uninstalling the previous driver, deleted the folders etc and installed the latest one. Now i don't have dim anymore :)
@castingsinkers While nVidia's version of their install may be different from AMD's version, the procedure is usually the same. Once you download the drivers from nVidia's website, just follow their instructions and the card should install.
@TheAshh44 That will depend on what monitor you want to setup with your card. If the card you have in your system is on-board, then that card will have to be disabled and you will use the new graphics card you just installed. If you have another card in your system, go to the "Display Properties" for your system and set the monitor you want to by the Main Display or Primary monitor. Once you apply the change, the desktop icons will switch over to that monitor and it will become the default.
when i install ati my graphics are becoming like yours,>>like shit very big icons...do u know what can i do to install ati without having these graphics?
@nikospneuma1 The graphics tend to be that way because generic drivers default your resolution to 800 x 600 or less. You can try and see if you can increase the resolution enough to access the drivers, but it would probably be best to download the drivers first and then either save them directly to the desktop ahead of time, burn them to a CD, or store them on a flash drive and connect it to your computer via a USB port.
i just installed a diamond ati 5750 and the slots lined up ok and everything but it looks like the dvi and hdmi ports are slightly close to the pci-e slots outer edge. everything works ok is this going to hurt anything.
@ytkuser No, this will not affect the performance of your video card. As long as you are able to connect your monitors to that card, the ports will still function if the card is already working.
@froggers0 I would download the update as it can save you time when doing the installation process. If you do not, Windows will load basic drivers for your video card so that you can get the update after the video card has been detected.
everytime i try to install ati driver on my pc it just picks a generic windows driver for ati but does not choose the ati pack... i did try to uninstall it and install same happened
@TheRogueMonk Once your computer boots into Windows, it picks generic drivers so that you can see video on your computer. Without these drivers, windows would not know what video card you have and no video would display on your screen. After you get video, you can update the drivers to the correct ones for your graphics card either from the installation disc that came with the card, or by going to the manufacturer's website and downloading the latest drivers for your graphics card.
i have radeon hd 4200 and i want to install nvidia gtx 560 ti can i do that? if yes how???
MultiDevan13 1 week ago
@MultiDevan13 I do not believe this is possible as the Radeon HD 4200 is on-board graphics and the 560 Ti is a dedicated graphics card. The new 560 Ti will override the HD 4200 and disable it.

Do I have to uninstall my old graphics card driver before putting in my new graphics card?
asdfme 4 weeks ago
@asdfme If you had a separate graphics card from another manufacturer, then you will want to uninstall the old drivers and start clean with just a general driver detection from Windows. If the old graphics card driver is from on-board, then most likely the generic drivers will still get detected after uninstalling them until the drivers for the new video card are installed. If something goes wrong, you can always get the drivers for the old card from the manufacturer.
dmmadmin2 3 weeks ago
@dmmadmin2 I'm thinking of upgrading my ATI Radeon HD 5450 to an ATI Radeon HD 6850, so since they're both Radeon cards, I wouldn't need to uninstall any drivers? Just install the new card?
asdfme 3 weeks ago

TamedBlueMonkey 1 month ago
@TamedBlueMonkey The manufacturer of your computer will most likely have the drivers for your video card if it is a laptop. Try going to their site and locate the drivers based on the model number of your laptop.

i have dell inpiron n5010, i had installed drivers as shown in video. but when i play the games like nfs shift or sniper ghost warrior. it is very slow and stuck stuck suck second after second. what to do on my friend laptop this games works smooth....
DJ903300 1 month ago
@DJ903300 I would check the specifications that your friend has for his laptop, especially the graphics card in his laptop. If his laptop has a dedicated HD graphics card from Intel or AMD, compared to your generic graphics card you have on your Inspiron n5010 laptop, then that, along with processor and memory, may be the reason why his laptop can run the games better than yours. If that is the case, then you may have to get a better laptop since laptop graphics can't be switched out.

@DJ903300 sounds like you have a virus.

When i finish the installation it says Install finished - warnings occured during install and then i find out that nothing was installed at all -any idea?
Bukac987 1 month ago
@Bukac987 You may want to check in Device Manager first under the section labeled "Display Adapters" to see if our video card detects properly. If it does, then just try downloading the drivers only from AMD's website for your video card, but make sure to remove any software that got installed on your computer first before downloading. If that does not work, then I would try installing the video card on another computer to see if you get the same problem.
dmmadmin2 1 month ago
@dmmadmin2 when i check under device manager all i see is my previous integrated graphics card. why isnt my computer detecting my new one?
joecoolbackinschool 1 month ago
@joecoolbackinschool It could be because of either the video card is not getting enough power, the slot the video card is in is bad, or there may be a compatibility issue with the motherboard and the video card. I would try installing the video card on another computer and if it does not detect on another computer, then you have a hardware failure on the video card and it should be replaced. If it works on another computer, then I would check your system.
dmmadmin2 3 weeks ago
@dmmadmin2 Thanks for replying i just re installed it and this time it detected it. weird but at least it works :D thanks!

kopie50 2 months ago
@kopie50 If you need to download the drivers, you can go to AMD's website and click on "Support & Drivers". From there, you can have AMD auto-detect the card you have installed on your computer and it will download the drivers for you.

IT FUCKING SAYS AMD CATALYST CANT BE DOWNLOADED DUE TO INCOMPATIBLE SHIT BUT ALL IS RIGHT >>>> MY CARD IS 6470M .... AMD FUCKING FAILED?
Twenman 2 months ago
@Twenman The "M" in the 6470M represents mobility, which means that you are either using a laptop, or have integrated video on your desktop. The drivers for that type of video card, along with the software you are supposed to use, can be found by using the installation disc that came with your computer, or by going to the computer manufacturer's website and downloading their drivers.

I have a Dell Inspiron 530, standard factory pc :/ with a 300 watt psu, i see a little thing on the graphics card, that appears something could be connected to it, is there a wire or sometihng that connects onto the gpu itself? :S
flyinggrandmas 2 months ago
@flyinggrandmas Depending on the video card you have, it may require additional power from your power supply in order to run the video card. You may want to contact the manufacturer of the video card to find out if the card you have requires power to be plugged in externally from your power supply to run the video card.
dmmadmin2 2 months ago
It says Installation Complete for me, but with a "?" instead of a "check mark" ... thus the installation did not work and i do not have the Catalyst installed. PLEASE HELP me SOMEONE. I just bought a new ATi gpu.
flyinggrandmas 2 months ago
@flyinggrandmas I would first check to see if the drivers for the new video card got installed correctly or not as that is what allows all other programs on your computer to view movies and play games with. Head for the Device Manager and verify that the new video card shows up under "Display Adapters". If it does show up, then if you are also going to play games, run the Direct X Diagnostic Tool ("dxdiag" from the Start Menu) to make sure the new card shows up there as well.
dmmadmin2 2 months ago
@flyinggrandmas (cont.) If it shows up there, then the card will be okay to run games and watch movies. You may also want to check AMD's website and just download the Catalyst Control Center only from their site to see if it installs on your computer. Also, make sure you have Windows up to date as some components for installing Catalyst on your computer do require applications from Microsoft, such as .NET Framework.

No need bios manipulation ?
segomil 3 months ago
@segomil If the previous drivers for the video card are disabled, then as long as the new video card is detected, there is no need to go into the BIOS to disable the on-board video from there. However, if the new video card does not get recognized by Windows and outputs at least some image on the new video card, then you may have to go into the BIOS to disable the on-board video as well.
dmmadmin2 3 months ago
@dmmadmin2 interresting ...thanks!

Do you have to worry about removing the previous video card drivers? Or does the driver application your running there take care of that for you?
MrDJHarbinger 4 months ago
@MrDJHarbinger If you had a card from nVidia and switched to a video card from AMD, I would recommend removing the previous drivers before installing the new ones. If you are simply moving from one AMD card to another AMD card, the drivers will update to reflect the changes. However, it is usually a good rule of thumb to remove the drivers for your previous video card before installing drivers for your new card so that there are no system conflicts.

i installed my graphics card but it cant detect it. am i supposed to put my monitor on the graphics card? or connect it to my computer, its currently connected to my computer...
cookies4lifeo 4 months ago
@cookies4lifeo I would check your Device Manager first to make sure that the video card is not being detected in another section. If it is being seen as an "other device" or as a "Standard Video Graphics Controller", then the drivers may not be installed for the video card yet. If the card does not show up at all in Device Manager, check to make sure that the card is installed correctly and any necessary cables, such as those for power to the card, are plugged in.
dmmadmin2 4 months ago
@dmmadmin2 (cont.) If that still does not work, try installing the video card in another computer to see if you get the same problem. If you do, then contact the video card manufacturer as you may have a defective unit. If the card is detected on another system, I would try updating the drivers for the motherboard to see if it fixes the problem. You may also want to make sure that the system you are using meets the minimum requirements for the video card to work.

MercenaryArek 5 months ago
@MercenaryArek I would try the 5750 on another computer to see if it detects on that system. If the card does detect fine on another computer, then you may have a problem with the PCI Express slot on your motherboard. In which case, you may need to contact the computer or motherboard manufacturer to have the unit replaced. Otherwise, if the video card does not work on another computer, then you may want to contact the video card manufacturer and get a replacement as the card may be bad.

my graphic driver won't install correctly
TOJxKiLLSTeaLeR 5 months ago
@TOJxKiLLSTeaLeR I would try doing a manual installation of the drivers if you already have downloaded them from the video card manufacturer's website. To do this, you would do a Windows Driver Update from Device Manager and tell the computer to look at your computer for the files it needs to install the drivers for your video card. If this does not work, I would check to see if the card is being detected by trying to install it on another computer to see if you get the same problem.

HerpDerp8196 6 months ago
@HerpDerp8196 If the card has a VGA port on it, then you should be fine. If you really want to use DVI, you can purchase a VGA to DVI adapter to plug into the DVI port on the video card using your VGA monitor. If you need help in accessing your BIOS, contact the manufacturer of your computer, if you bought it at a store, or the manufacturer of the motherboard, if you or someone else custom built the computer.

HerpDerp8196 6 months ago
@HerpDerp8196 You may want to check the log to see if there were problems with installing some component of the software, such as the drivers or the Catalyst Control Center. Also, if you plug your monitor back into the on-board and get video from it, then you may have to disable or change the Primary Video Adapter setting within your system BIOS as it may still think you are using on-board. I would refer to your computer documentation for accessing BIOS or contact the manufacturer for assistance
dmmadmin2 6 months ago
@HerpDerp8196 (cont.) on how to access the BIOS. You may want to try installing the video card in another computer, if you can locate one, to see if you get video from the card being installed in that system. If it works, then there may be either compatibility issues with your system and that card, or the slot the card was in could be failing. You can also contact the manufacturer of your video card to see if they can assist you with your problem.

Do you need to buy any cables? Also does it matter what GB or MB the video card is?
FeaRTutorials3D 6 months ago
@FeaRTutorials3D Purchasing cables for a video card are only needed if you are trying to plug in multiple monitors to one video card, if you do not already have the cables, or if the card you purchased requires external power from the power supply to run the video card and you power supply does not have these cables on it by default. As for memory on the video card, more is better since it allows applications that deal with graphics to access it rather than system memory.
dmmadmin2 6 months ago
hey, i got ATI Radeon HD Series 5400. and when i install drivers nothig happens. it just lags. problem?
RiboPS3 6 months ago
@RiboPS3 If it is lagging during the installation process for the Catalyst Control Center, it is possible that the drivers are installing for the video card. If it continuously lags when installing, you may want to try and manually install the drivers for the video card by updating driver software and search for the drivers on your computer. With AMD video cards, the location is in a folder under the path labeled C:/ATI/Support/"Driver Version"/Packages/Drivers/Display.
dmmadmin2 6 months ago

@dmmadmin2 i click install > express > next > accept, then it doesn't do anything and if i click anywhere, it says (on top of the browser) ATI Install Manager (or something) is not answering, what should i do? it really pisses me off
TheJoshuaGuy321 6 months ago
@TheJoshuaGuy321 It is possible that the installation is still running or installing components onto your computer. If you quit the installation in the middle of the process, it may or may not be installing the drivers for the video card. That being said, as long as the video card drivers get installed and Device Manager sees the card as an ATI video card, then you do not need to install the Catalyst Control Center if you are using the card for basic video tasks or light gaming/DVD playing.
dmmadmin2 6 months ago
@TheJoshuaGuy321 (cont.) You can try downloading individual drivers for the video card by going to AMD's website and when selecting the drivers, just click on the "Individual Drivers" tab and download the Display Drivers only to allow the card to work with most standard video applications and games. This will not install the Catalyst Control Center on your computer, but will allow you to use the video card.

saeid114 7 months ago
@saeid114 Even though the fan spins, it still may not detect due to not having the proper connections plugged in for the card or just not having enough power to run the card. I would make sure that all power connections required for the video card are connected to the power supply first and then make sure you have an adequate power supply that can run this card. You can contact the manufacturer of the video card for more information.
dmmadmin2 6 months ago
@saeid114 (cont.) I would then make sure to disable or modify the on-board video within your system BIOS next as this may be the reason that the card is not recognized: the default video card port may still be set to on-board. I would also try the video card in another slot if it is available, or another computer, to see if you get the same problem.
dmmadmin2 6 months ago
@saeid114 If the card works, on another computer without making any other changes, then the card may be working okay, but the issue may be due to compatibility between your motherboard and this video card. The same can also be said if you have another video card that works in the same system other than the 6790 in addition to the 6790 working on another computer.
dmmadmin2 6 months ago
@saeid114 If the card does not work on either system, then you have a bad card and you should contact the manufacturer of the video card to get a replacement.
dmmadmin2 6 months ago
do i download the drivers before installing the graphics card or after
turbanatorstudios 7 months ago
@turbanatorstudios Windows will load generic drivers to give you basic video if it detects your new video card. That being said, you can download the drivers either before installing the card (to save time depending on your internet connection if you do not have the installation disc for your video card) or after installing the card (to verify that the video card itself is detected). In our video, I downloaded them before installing the graphics card to save time.
dmmadmin2 7 months ago
@H3Survivors You may want to make sure that the on-board video has been disabled as there may be a conflict between the new video card and the old one. I would also try installing the video card with the same drivers on another computer and if there is a problem when installing on another computer, then there may be a problem with the video card. If the card installs fine on another computer, then you may have an issue with your system.
dmmadmin2 7 months ago
Don't video cards usually come with discs to install the drivers? You could always update afterwards...
PIKACHU49386 7 months ago
@PIKACHU49386 It depends on the manufacturer as drivers can be made available either in a disc format, or automatically install from Windows once the device plugs in to your computer. For video cards, the manufacturer includes the installation disc for their card, but Windows can also load generic drivers for the video card to give you basic video as long as it can identify that you have a video card installed on your system.
dmmadmin2 7 months ago
When I install this catalyst thing on my computer it somehow made my games lag uncontrollably, so I uninstalled it. (not knowing drivers for ATI were called catalysts at that time) it got rid of everything. So I'm now trying to find the right things to dowload. It keeps saying Standard VGA Graphics Adapter, and no matter what I download from the AMD website it never gives me a graphics driver even if it lists it. Thus saying your dont have the right hardware/software, wrong adapter.
JavaBasher 7 months ago

ImprovedAtom 7 months ago
@ImprovedAtom Running an ATI video card on a Mac using Bootcamp for Windows may not be supported depending on the manufacturer. You may want to try downloading the individual driver download instead of the Catalyst Software Suite from AMD's website and install just the drivers only as this may be the easiest way to get the card to work through Bootcamp on a Mac. If the drivers install, then you can at least control the resolution without problems.
dmmadmin2 7 months ago
@ImprovedAtom You may want to contact the manufacturer of the card you are trying to install to see if it will work on a Mac computer as Apple tends to have proprietary cards they use with their computers.

@arieiv5 You can restart your computer anyways if the device is not showing up under Display Adapters within Device Manager. If the mobility 9600 shows up after this, then you should be fine. Otherwise, I would check to see if there are updated drivers on AMD's website to download for the card.

evolosoft 8 months ago
@evolosoft If you have an ATI/AMD graphics card, I would try to download just the drivers only for your video card from AMD's website. Also, try going back to using older drivers depending on the video card that you have. Make sure also that if you have on-board graphics card in your computer, disable it first before continuing with the installation.
dmmadmin2 8 months ago
@evolosoft I would also try the new card in another slot and another system to see if you get the same problem because you may have a corrupt operating system or a defective video card. You can always contact the card manufacturer if you are running into problems with your video card to see if it is compatible with your system or not.

Hi I just have a question. When uninstalling my GFX card do I have to uninstall the drivers or will the new card drivers patch over it. And when and if I remove the drivers what will happen?
PCGamer1471 8 months ago
@PCGamer1471 If you are replacing the GFX card with the same model, then simply swapping out the cards will not require you to uninstall drivers. However, to be safe, it is recommended to remove the drivers and install the correct ones for you video card. When you remove the drivers, the video card will simply revert back to generic drivers loaded by Windows, which will still allow you to see an image on your computer. After which, you can install the correct drivers for your new video card.

jameeble 8 months ago
@jameeble First check to see if the display drivers for your video card got installed within Device Manager. vinayak678 9 months ago
At that point, you should disable your BIOS password and just check the settings for the default video card.

i did everything you said, but at the end it didn't prompt me to reboot my pc.I rebooted it myself.Did i do the right thing?
codmwlover 9 months ago

But Now I cant play brink at all because it says i dont have the OpenGL 3.1 or a newer so can you please help me?TY
gleative 9 months ago
@gleative Based on the specs I pulled up on your laptop, I found that the Mobility Radeon HD 5870 video card supports up to OpenGL 3.2. You may want to try another game on your laptop that also requires OpenGL 3.1 or higher (such as Left4Dead series, Half-Life series, Minecraft to name a few) to see if you get the same problem. If you downloaded the drivers from AMD's website, then I would try removing them and going with the drivers from the original installation disc that came with your laptop
dmmadmin2 9 months ago
@dmmadmin2 And throughout this are you in safemode or normal? thanks in advance :)
starwars910 9 months ago
@starwars910 I am doing the installation normally on Windows without having to be in Safe Mode. Even though the drivers are not installed yet at this point, the card is being loaded by the operating system with generic drivers that give you at least some video on the screen. Once the drivers get installed, the resolution of the video can be changed, or Windows may automatically adjust the resolution for you.
dmmadmin2 9 months ago
@gleative If the driver still does not install, then make sure that the mobility card is being detected and is working properly within the Catalyst Control Center. You can also try uninstalling and reinstalling Brink if another game on your PC works on your laptop. If this still does not work, I would contact ASUS or AMD to see if they can assist you as the problem may be with the chipset on the motherboard of your laptop.

can i install it without internet, or do i have to wait till ma dad gets it up again. I think i cant costom settings, but if i can, how?
MultiSnoopDawg 9 months ago
@MultiSnoopDawg If you have the installation disc that came with your graphics card, then you will be able to install the drivers and the software without having to connect to the internet. If you do not have, or if there is a problem with reading on your computer, the disc, then you can either download a version from the internet, or contact the manufacturer of your graphics card and request a replacement installation disc.
dmmadmin2 9 months ago
@dmmadmin2 well thx, i think i found out myself after thinking about what you said in the vids, bit that onboard reader, you know that made the pc work with no card, if the pc had a card with it and no such onboard thing, can i then just strait install the disc?
MultiSnoopDawg 9 months ago
@MultiSnoopDawg That is correct. You can install right from the installation disc for your graphics card if you have no on-board video card installed physically in your computer.

Hey I just installed 11.4 for my G73JH. I uninstalled catalyst control manger 11.3 and the comp restarted and then I installed 11.4. How do I know it worked?
abbath1586 9 months ago
@abbath1586 Open your Catalyst Control Center and check under "System Information". From there, look under "Software" and if the version of Catalyst says "11.4", then the installation was successfully updated.

when i install the card my screen goes blank black when i turn the pc on
weedyak 10 months ago

I even uninstall both drivers compelety and did the same steps, yet they are still in conflict and raise my cpu to 50% avg. please can you help.. the onboard is a HD 3200
berylin12 11 months ago
@berylin12 Uninstalling the device will cause it to be re-installed when you restart your computer. If you are still having problems after trying to disable the on-board video within Windows, you may have to disable the on-board video within your motherboard's BIOS, which starts up before Windows loads on your computer. In which case, consult your motherboard documentation or contact the manufacturer of your computer to learn how to disable the built-in video card through the system BIOS.

I have a problem.
I am running on the integrated graphics at the moment and I want to know.
bamazudi 11 months ago
@bamazudi If you had a built-in video card on your motherboard, then it is possible that your motherboard reverted back to its default settings when you took out the 4650 the first time. If you motherboard came with on-board video, try plugging a monitor into that and see if you get video without a card in your system. If you do not, then you probably have a defective motherboard. You can also try your 4650 on another computer to see if you get the same problem of no video, or if the card works.

@dmmadmin2 hey man when I click on device manager the graphics display device does not come up and this is a big problem and I dont know how to resolve this
hope you can help!
thanks
zxEPiiKiLL3Rxz 10 months ago
@zxEPiiKiLL3Rxz If the card does not come up as even a "Standard VGA Controller" under either "Other Devices" or "Display Adapters" within Device Manager, then make sure the card is fully inserted into your computer. You will want to try another slot in your computer where the video card goes into and try another computer to see if you have a bad video card or if you have a bad slot on your motherboard.
dmmadmin2 9 months ago
Hey , when i connect my graphics card and plug my monitor into it, it works for about 5 mins and then i get no signal to monitor. If i plug my monitor into on-board with the gpu in my motherboard get no sinl at all, can you help ?
kupazmaslemutube 1 year ago
@kupazmaslemutube Try taking out the graphics card and then connect your monitor to the on-board GPU. If you still get no video on your monitor, then try another monitor, another monitor cable, and try your video card on another computer. If the card does not work on another computer, then you may have a defective video card and it should be replaced. If the card does work on another computer, then you have a bad motherboard and it needs to be replaced.
dmmadmin2 11 months ago
do you have to disable onboard in bios im confused here sorry
Xtr3m3z33 1 year ago

HiiPeRSniiPeR 1 year ago
@HiiPeRSniiPeR I would first check with the manufacturer of your video card to see if it is compatible with Windows 7 64-bit. If it is, then I would check to make sure you are running Windows 7 64-bit and not Windows 7 32-bit. Then I would check to see if you have the latest motherboard BIOS updates from your computer or motherboard manufacturer's web site. You may also want to try doing a Windows Driver Update within Device Manager to manually install the drivers for your video card.

@dmmadmin2 it is ATI make my computer bug or its is my computer got virus or wat? or my ati got bugged?
lohzhen 1 year ago
@lohzhen If you are having problems installing ATI software, try installing individual drivers for your video card first and not the entire software package. If this works, then try installing the Catalyst software on your computer. If the ATI software works fine with your card on another computer, then you may have to re-install your operating system to fix the problem.

its like everything needs to be scaled down
DoeBoyy21 1 year ago
Hi. I also have a problem with my graphics card. After installed everything properly, and after downloading the drivers everything seems to big twice the size it should be.but when i unistall the drivers everything goes back to its normal size. Some help and answers would be greatly appreciated, thanks.
DoeBoyy21 1 year ago
@DoeBoyy21 You will want to check the resolution that is set for your display to see if you can adjust it to make the screen normal in size. If this does not work, try switching the cables that connect from the monitor to the video card. It could be possible that Windows loads the current drivers for your graphics card and the ones you are using may be an older version. Check Device Manager after uninstalling the drivers to see if there are problems under Display Adapters for our device.
dmmadmin2 1 year ago
@dmmadmin2
thank you, and i tried your techniques, but still it doesnt work for me. right now im just running the card with the drivers uninstalled
DoeBoyy21 1 year ago
@DoeBoyy21 You may have an issue with how your graphics card scales the image within the software for the video card. I would contact the manufacturer of your video card and see if they can help you change the options to get it to scale correctly. Try installing your video card in another computer to see if you get the same problem with the resolution. If you do not, then there may be something wrong with your PC. If you get the same problem, then you may have a hardware issue with your card.
dmmadmin2 1 year ago
@DoeBoyy21 If there are no problems with the device within Device Manager, then Windows installed the drivers through Windows Driver Update and your video card should work without problems.

Hey, I have a big problem. I installed the drivers which were on the CD that came with the graphics card. My PC starts up after I installed the drivers but i can't play any games with the new graphicscard :/ What did i do wrong??? :/
BananaOwn 1 year ago
@BananaOwn You may want to check the system requirements for your game to make sure the card you have will work. If the card meets the requirements to play the game, then I would try testing the card on different slots or a different computer to make sure that your system fully detects the card so that your game will see it and load properly.

BananaOwn 1 year ago
and switched to PCI e in BIOS, i do have drivers installed from ATI for the onboard graphics, would i have to un install those for it to work?
killjoy8244 1 year ago
@killjoy8244 You can uninstall the drivers, but I do not think that will fix this problem. It may be an operating system issue or a hardware failure with the 5670. If you have another PCI-e video card, try it in place of the 5670 to see if you get the same problem. Windows should detect a video card and install basic drivers for the card from within the operating system. If the video card still does not detect when installing drivers, then you may have a problem with your system.
dmmadmin2 1 year ago

I have a NVIDIA GeForce 8400 GS 512MB DDR2 PCI graphics card. I believe that I have installed it correctly and before I installed my graphics card I looked for the old graphics card so I can disable it and did not find it so I continued installing my new one.I didnt have any problems with my new graphics card until I restarted it after installing it and when I restart my computer everything works fine until it goes to my desktop I get a black screen on my monitor and I have my monitor's power on
XxThechamp219xX 1 year ago

Claymore2408 1 year ago
@Claymore2408 Brightness usually can be changed within the monitor's own settings through the configuration menu. I would check that first and then try updating your drivers to the most current version of Catalyst, which is 10.11.
dmmadmin2 1 year ago
@dmmadmin2 Thanks for getting back to me, the brightness from the monitor setting wasn't a issue it was 100% when it dimmed, but i've deleted everything from ATI after uninstalling the previous driver, deleted the folders etc and installed the latest one. Now i don't have dim anymore :)

castingsinkers 1 year ago
@castingsinkers While nVidia's version of their install may be different from AMD's version, the procedure is usually the same. Once you download the drivers from nVidia's website, just follow their instructions and the card should install.

Ive installed a graphics card but i have 2 in so how do it choose which 1 i want as default
TheAshh44 1 year ago
@TheAshh44 That will depend on what monitor you want to setup with your card. If the card you have in your system is on-board, then that card will have to be disabled and you will use the new graphics card you just installed. If you have another card in your system, go to the "Display Properties" for your system and set the monitor you want to by the Main Display or Primary monitor. Once you apply the change, the desktop icons will switch over to that monitor and it will become the default.

when i install ati my graphics are becoming like yours,>>like shit very big icons...do u know what can i do to install ati without having these graphics?
nikospneuma1 1 year ago
@nikospneuma1 The graphics tend to be that way because generic drivers default your resolution to 800 x 600 or less. You can try and see if you can increase the resolution enough to access the drivers, but it would probably be best to download the drivers first and then either save them directly to the desktop ahead of time, burn them to a CD, or store them on a flash drive and connect it to your computer via a USB port.

i just installed a diamond ati 5750 and the slots lined up ok and everything but it looks like the dvi and hdmi ports are slightly close to the pci-e slots outer edge. everything works ok is this going to hurt anything.
ytkuser 1 year ago
@ytkuser No, this will not affect the performance of your video card. As long as you are able to connect your monitors to that card, the ports will still function if the card is already working.
dmmadmin2 1 year ago
would you suggest to dl the update before you install your video card?
froggers0 1 year ago
@froggers0 I would download the update as it can save you time when doing the installation process. If you do not, Windows will load basic drivers for your video card so that you can get the update after the video card has been detected.

everytime i try to install ati driver on my pc it just picks a generic windows driver for ati but does not choose the ati pack... i did try to uninstall it and install same happened
itried to isntall manually same happened
its like a curse with this new install
what do i do
TheRogueMonk 1 year ago
@TheRogueMonk Once your computer boots into Windows, it picks generic drivers so that you can see video on your computer. Without these drivers, windows would not know what video card you have and no video would display on your screen. After you get video, you can update the drivers to the correct ones for your graphics card either from the installation disc that came with the card, or by going to the manufacturer's website and downloading the latest drivers for your graphics card.
