@shamk9 as far as the best is concerned, Pakistan has got world's best Indian classical singers and gharaanaas coz hindus living in pakistani territory during 12-17th century were the first ones to sing in Mughal kings' palaces, offering their daughters and sisters to those kings to spare their lives. They also converted to Islam to live and formed a fake muslim country called "Pakistan". Music did'nt progress in Indian punjab like pakistan coz we used to fight with mughals! u be the judge pal!

Noor Jehan was way better then Noor Jehan and Im sure you dont know, but she was approached zillion times by bollywood producers but she always declined, and to enrich your knowledge more, 1970 she was offered 50 LAKH to sing, whereas indian artists or Lata Mangeshkar was paid sum of 50,000 for one song. I think she has a bad throat here but what was that Howe Howe chorus used by Leslie Lewis? He changed the tempo, introduction and arrangement of this song based on raag pahadi and expected us to like it?
I'm from Pakistan, and I don't think that Indian lacks SINGING talent, but perhaps a good MUSIC DIRECTOR, because Rohail Hyatt (produced behind Coke Studio Pakistan) grown up listening to Pink Floyd, etc whereas Indian directors are heavily influence by mainstream Bollywood pop music, and that's why they don't make 'soulful' music.

In coke studio artists are selected not coz of their names and weights but coz of their talents. But the thing is artists like sanam marvi, arif lohar, and for that matter nusrat fateh ali khan they started by singing in villages and from homes charging as less as 5000 bucks they relied solely on their talents where as in india artists rely on promotion. I'm an Indian too.

Great talent isn't wanting in both countries. That's for sure! What I , as an Indian, see is the quality of production that's wanting in the Indian sessions of Coke Studio, and hence, a slump in the overall appeal of the Indian segment. @fLeR167 I agree bro. Pakistani Music is entirely punjabi based and is closely related to a form of worship. In coke studio artists are selected not coz of their names and weights but coz of their talents. But the thing is artists like sanam marvi, arif lohar, and for that matter nusrat fateh ali khan they started by singing in villages and from homes charging as less as 5000 bucks they relied solely on their talents where as in india artists rely on promotion. I'm an Indian too.

For God sake someone fix her SURE. If this is the best India Coke can produce, than frankly this is a fake or run by some kids. Because, I have heard mind blowing singers and artists from India. This will be an insult to those fantastic Indian artists.
Even the arrangements are so muffled and muddy. It is a crap to me. If you guys had to copy, at least go one step ahead as you have done in the past.

Great talent isn't wanting in both countries. That's for sure! What I , as an Indian, see is the quality of production that's wanting in the Indian sessions of Coke Studio, and hence, a slump in the overall appeal of the Indian segment. After all, a 'Sa re ga ma' or other music competitions have thrown up great talents, haven't they?

I am an Indian... I totally agree with you guys and Pakistan coke studio is way better than the Indian version. Please don't get me wrong just because I am a Muslim. I always believe in peace and harmony....Rohail is damn good and he deserves a pat on his shoulders for what he is doing at the moment. He is taking music altogether to a new dimension and height. At the same, I wouldn't describe the Indian version as crap, but not just good enough as the Paki version......

@enzovirk : I would agree with you .. but I would not use the word "crap" here ...that seems so loud .. its just that Rohail has this unique ability to make up the drama in the music while holding up to the authenticity of the song ... the vocalists remains very authentic while the Rohial and his team does the rest .. somehow I feel Leslie overdoes the vocalist. Dont get me worng Leslie is unique in his own way though ... its just that the audience in me does not like it ...

Ridiculous. Sunidhi's part was as lifeless as it could be. And poor wadalis. As good as they are, they could not save the atrocious composition. What the hell are you guys thinking? The 3 girls are doing random oodling, has 0 effect on the feel of the song. I am an Indian and I am utterly disgusted at coke studio@mtv. I could only want to shut it 10 times before I eventually did 2 1/2 minutes into the song. You are killing the essence of coke studio. Stop it for the love of music.
