YouTube Malfunction Kvetching

Das ist nicht unbedingt von der Geschwindigkeit der eigenen Verbindung abhängig sondern davon, wie schnell der YouTube Server die Daten liefert.

Meine Lösung: Mehrere Videos in mehreren Tabs öffnen und alle auf Pause schalten, die Inhalte werden weiter geladen. In der Zeit bis man sich einen Film angeschaut hat ist mit etwas Glück ein zweiter vollständig geladen, and so forth.

Yeah, it's happened a couple times in the last few days... They changed the buffering system, though. So now you can "move the little knob" anywhere on the bar and it will start playing from that point...

Like if you wanted to skip to a certain part of a video you've already watched, but don't want to wait for the whole video to load.

Its a common video problem among all video sites. For some reason, certain videos on YT will have a hard time loading and it will.................. stop loading.

It doesn't happen with my internet, but we've got a pretty fast connection. When the connection is slow, I just click a video, pause it, and then wait for the red line to fill all the way. I open videos in new tabs so that they'll be loaded by the time I finish watching one. Good luck!

I have DSL too..and it not only happens to youtube, but MSN videos as well...not to mention my miget hooker video fedish..Come on right in the middle, that 3 1/2 foot ball of love was going to try to ride a horse -From underneath!!..dam and it froze..

All I can say is trying watching the little red line if you are stupid enough to try and watch (or be made fun of until you do try to watch only to be made fun of for having dial up in the first place!) on dial up. Thank God for laptops and free wifi! Now if only there was a never-dying battery and I didn't have to shower and change clothes every now and again :P

This problem is all about speed. I mean your speed of the internet connection you have. More speed, (Mbit/s)fewer problems. That's all.

I hate that but the solution is simple, as I'm sure you probably know. Pause the video right when it starts and wait for the line to go all the way across - then play.

Ah, buffering. The bane of the live internet. Make sure nothing (even uploads, etc.) is clogging your connection all the way and all that mess. Used to be a problem in the early days of the tube quite a bit.

It's not a malfunction because you can't play something that you haven't downloaded yet.

But a problem I DO have is sometimes when I reply to a comment, it doesn't show it as a reply and it makes my comment look stupid. I also hate that when you get an email that says you've received a reply, and you click "go to comments." it doesn't actually take you to the comment so you have to search through all the pages to get to it.

I have a couple of pcs that are internet connected, and one of them is having this exact same problem... notably yesterday and today. But the other, newer and faster pc hasn't had the problem. So... maybe youtube is telling us it's time to upgrade (you know how these things go... within a couple of years, your pc is already becoming obsolete, though youtube may be intentionally hastening this. What if they have a contract with Dell or something? Do you think they could be so insidious?)

It could be your ISP, but the YT site the past few days seems to have had a few problems.

Here's a suggestion: Try using Mozilla as your web browser rather than Internet Explorer. I found that whereas with IE pages loaded slowly or not at all, Mozilla does a much better job and has a much cleaner interface. Mozilla Foxfire is a free download.

ive had that problem for AGES and ages i used to press play n it would stop in the middles of something that was reli intrestind and id pull it back and stuff but in the end i jus paused it until the red line had loaded all the way up so i could watch the vidio without it stopping- althought now its actuali stopped doing that - i think its because they upgraded the pages n stuff i dont reli know :S

but the main thing is ...

I haven't been getting that much lately, but I loved your description of the problem! What else is funny is how you have to click a bunch of different places along the bar if you want to watch a particular part of it again. But there are only certain points it can resume from, so it makes everyone look like bad Max Headroom ripoffs.

The only time I have that "freeze" problem is when I am running other programs at the same time I am watching a video.

Videos usually load fast enough to allow me to immediately start watching them. It happens every now and then that I have to press the pause button and wait for the download to progress but for me it's currently not better nor worse than usual. I have experienced some "internal server error"s today, though.

happens all the time, youtube is not adding servers in the speed the audience is growing.

not much can be done about it.

its very hard to convince shareholders to add funds until there is a need. when the need arrives it takes time to buy and add what is needed to make it fast again and so on and so forth...

Of course, anyone on dial-up gets that every single time ... if they want to see a video badly enough, they just mute the video, ... let ... it ... play ... through, unmute, and then hit replay.

If its happening more, it could be more congestion on the system where you get your internet, slowing down access, delays on the YouTube side, or some mix of the two.
