hey squeak I remember talking to you for a bit about the xiosynth before, I can finally get one used for 230 you think I should take the offer or X-station for 230? Novation says the Xiosynth is better.

@cjsinister6  X-Station HANDS DOWN the winner between the two. They're almost identical in the sound chip.., and the X-Station is built better, has way more real time control, and a HUGE plus is the X-Stations keys are REAL semi-weighted keys made by Fatar. The keybed in the Xio is absolutely HORRIBLE. It's the worst quality semi-weighted keys I've ever played. You can't go wrong with the X-Station (especially if it's in good shape).

can you use this as a drum machine, for example is there a drum set function for the keys?

@gibsonlover123 The Xio is a Virtual Analogue Synth. It's designed to replicate or emulate the sound of a vintage analogue synth. It cannot be used as a drum machine.., and it doesn't have dedicated drum kits within the presets. The Xio's also a midi controller..., and to play drums via the keys you'd need to midi it up to a VST application or a hardware unit.

@rambandi The Xio can be powered in several ways. You can use the included power supply, it'll run on USB power from your computer, and you can use batteries. It doesn't need the midi cable to function as a stand-alone synth.

It will do both.  You can send audio over the USB or use a PA system using the individual L/R stereo outputs.

If the keybed wasn't' so shotty I'd say it's worth every bit of $300.., but the Xio's really do have poor keybeds. The action is so poor on some that it defeats the whole purpose of calling them semi-weighted. Calling them semi-weighted is misleading too. Anytime you add weight to a keybed 99.99% of the time it's associated with "better quality" as typically semi-weighted and above are "supposed" to be an improved and higher quality action. Not the case with the Xio at all.

Yeah..., so many of those good ol'porn tracks were done on analogue synths. So much of that 70's and 80's cheese porn was done with Moog's, Juno's, and other well known analogue synths.... If you really think about it.., all these modern VA synths and even modern true analogue synths got that porn appeal :)

so many funky leads i know where from a model D. the people who made porn music really knew their stuff. I'm sure it would have been no trouble to watch the finished product just to "make sure it fits in properly" :P
