Luke Haines wrote that Chris Cunningham stole the warped faces idea he used in the Aphex Twin videos from a sleeve design of The Auteurs which featured Haines' face on a bunch of kids.
Don't know why Luke Haines gave all the britpop bands such a hard time. He just sounds like the rest of them. Its nothing really special or out there. Its good for what it is. We are egomaniacs!!!
Always wondered about this video, because it was on the previews for the DVD, but not actually on the Chris Cunningham video. Anybody know why it wasn't?
LOL @ all the morons fawning defensively over Chris Cunningham. Buy The Auteurs' 'After Murder Park', then kindly throw your other shitty CDs in the bin where they belong. Otherwise: get plastic surgery to resemble Richard D. James, then jump off a bridge
What a co-incidence we bump into one another here! Have been reading Luke Haines' britpop book and thought I'd see if i could remember any of the auteurs songs. As it turns out, I can recall none of them!
I've been trying to find a video, if there is one, to The Auteurs' song "There's Gonna Be An Accident" - it's one of my all-time favorite songs. Anyone know of one? Let me know!!
I love the Auteurs and Chris Cunningham, I didn't get the Auteurs at first but check them out and you'll be rewarded. What's weird about this video is I'm fairly sure the guy pretending to be the singer isn't Luke Haines it looks like he's just playing guitar in this video. If anyone who's read this knows why please let me know
Yeah, the singer in the video is not Luke Haines, and Haines is the one playing the guitar. Don't know who the "singer" in the video is, unfortunately.
The single version of this track was the best thing The Auteurs ever did, videos don't really matter, Chris Cunningham has done some funny things, Luke Haines fell out with him, get over it, it is a great song.
This is pretty darn good video. Chris may be ashamed of it, but I thought it looked great. Its abstract visuals and edits make up for its lack of sophistication. ...And any video that has a kid grabbing the band's instruments and smashing them is automatically good.
Watching Chris Cunningham' early videos is a bit difficult. It's hard to mesh the quality of his later brilliance with the middling stew of visuals he created before Come to Daddy. Chris doesn't like his early work either, and would rather you not see it.
yeah maaan, kinda crap. NO IT'S GOOD. maybe you should stop reading graphic design books in waterstones, and shoving aphex twin cds up your ass. only kidding, that was mr haines taking over my childlike mind, LMB
chris cunningham is amazing.. I love how he expresses the chord changes expecially when the girl points her wand at the guy and a big magnifying glas pops up. The scene switches from the girl twirling amoungst rose pedles and the lead singer making funny faces behind the thing .. love it

'There's gonna be an accident' is a Baader Meinhof track - not sure if there's a video, but yeah, top class tune.

I would say this was his best video before Come To Daddy was made. That's saying a bit too.

That WAS pretty damn cool! I wonder why it was left off of Cunningham's compilation DVD. They showed a couple of frames of it during the intro.
