@MrKriss777 Drilling holes and wedges makes the splitting easy. Just using a hammer would only break off small bits.

you could also use wood spikes... put them in the holes and then pour water onto them and they expand! thats how they did it in the boise penn... so the prisoners were less dangerous :) water and wood dowels as opposed to spikes and hammers :P
