woodsaver, USA never provoked Japan, and in fact Japan had been provoking the USA and other nations for years, Japan attacked China in 1933, and the Legue of Nations put an emgbargo against Japan. On the day of Peral Harbor, we let a Japanese civilian ship loaded with scrao steel leave our west coast since it was only a civilian ship, but we could have siezed it. You know nothing.
@christof139 Also, contrary to what people have thought in those days Americans treated japanese POW's much more humane and displayed better compassion than the japanese would. Japan would not only treat american POW's like shit, but also their own soldiers/civilians, they didn't care..all they wanted was absolute power and the U.S. knocked them out the picture - I know this because im Japanese, my grandparents would tell me stories.
@DaCosmicCat , Hi, Yeah, the USA usually treated POWs decently, but there were instances of course where POWs weren't taken such as always occurs in combat & all sides' troops do it. Many Japanese did not agree with the war in China or with the USA etc., including some very high rnking officers & politicians, & some officers refused to comply with brutal orders during the Battan Death March etc.
You people are idiots, the Japanese Commited the first act of war against the USA, the US was retaliating! The Japanese commited numerous war atrocities, however cruel this footage looks it was filmed during a time of war. I'm sure if the Japanese Empire had wanted to invade your country and kill your family you would be cheering along to this merry tune.
Wow the US marines were so nice to the Japanese prisoners of war. If US marines get captured by the japanese at that time, they will kill all the Marines!
the only reason they were nice is because the cameras were rolling. the marines and infantry were pretty abusive if they ever came across a japanese solder who wanted to surrender. some marines had to be disarmed to prevent them from shooting prisoners on camera.
wow no shit! i disregarded that part. oh well, after all...what had both sides gone thru, it is really understandable. Put myself in their shoes, i will do the same thing probably.
i thought it was the japs that brought the flame thrower to war.

If you think that the U.S. was cruel you should look at what the Japanese did to the Chinese.
