Yeah!! I really enjoyed that jam! I never used to like things like high output pups, and preferred vintage pups on a strat, but I am being won over to the dimarzios etc., by guys like yourselves. Makes my blues-rock style seem tame by comparison, but now I'm thinking I'll buy one of those 'Jems' and learn some sweep-picking! So watch your backs you guys! :)

Where do you get the patterns for your fast somewhat repeating parts? i think of myself as a decently fast player but ive got nothing to play at fast speeds and i feel like ive run into a wall. Like what are your influences or songs you learned to pick up those licks.

My main influences are Angus Young, Eddie Van Halen & Yngwie Malmsteen. Their early stuff really taught me a lot in terms of patterns, licks .

Try learning scale patterns in all positions, then link them together. This way, the entire fretboard will become one big playground.

His early stuff is running up and down the pentatonic scales usually at the twelfth fret. Buy the We Sold Our Souls for Rock 'n' Roll 73 minute compilation.

Great workout and most of it's pretty easy to just work out by ear and find the position and mess around while it plays.

If you are enticed by the sound of flames dancing then Yngwie will have your ass running up and down scales on fire!

@IronMan360 to pick up fast soloing i used Metallica for although Kirk Hammet really isn't a great guitarist and all that, it is varied enough and easy enough for a player to pick up everything from tapping to sweeps to tremolo picking etc. from his stuff. I still don't cite him as one of my favouriter guitar players by a long shot but it is great for starting to shred

I don't know if I could really explain what I'm doing there. It's a sequence done very legato with not too much picking. It's one of those things that just developed on it's own over time.

It's a bit neck heavy, but if you use a leather strap rather than a real smooth one, it helps a lot. It's a very playable and comfortable guitar overall.

Several of my guitars have Riffbuckers which are pickups that I've been building for a number of years. This particular guitar has the stock Gibson 57 Classic in the bridge and a Riffbucker Articulator-2 in the neck.
