  • Sell it to dove. Boom $100 and your own shampoo brand.

  • Check your settings cause the milk seems like it's flickering towards the end of the animation.

  • @MrRemingt0n I suggest you read the video description then ;)

    Have a good day.

  • Hi, could you run me through the technicalities of this video?

-How many particles did you use

-How long was the sim time

-How large was the bin folder

-How long did it take to render on what renderer

    -System specs

If it's not too much to ask :) Thanks a bunch!

  • @IceGene Hi !

    - About 1.8M particles are present within the simulation.

    - Simulation time was about 120 hours.

    - It took about 150 hours to render on 3dsMax 2011 (64bits) using VRay 1.5 SP5. The frames were strawberries were plainly seen were the longest. It's related to their VRayFastSSS2 settings.

    - The bin (particles) folder is 17GB large.

    - System specs are: Intel Q6600 (quad-core) 2.4GHz (old proc ;)), 4GB Ram at that time (now I have 8GB).

    Hope it helps !

    Cheers ^^

  • @SmoothAngle Wow thanks! I have similar specs. Now I have an idea of what I'm up against.

  • @FokBibi Yes, I'm aware of that. You can read the video description where I explain that I remeshed the particles since then, using Frost this time, with much better result : no more holes nor flickering ;)

Btw, thank you for your comment !

  • i would totally drink your milk!

  • @aurangzib Thanks for your comment ;)

I advise you mix it with strawberries' pulp xD

  • my friend how to make slow motion can you show me way?

  • @santralcixx Hello ;)

It's very easy. Click the arrow on the "Simultate" button in realflow then choose "Options".

From there, choose the desired "FPS output". It should be 30 by default.

    Voilà ;)

  • @SmoothAngle thx my friend you really expert if you have msn i want contact with you

  • really nice

  • @sokseb Very kind of you, thanks ;)

  • Dam, thats beautiful... *-*

  • @thalesrenato omg, thank you so much xD

  • looks real :)))))

  • @fivestarlesson Thank you xD

  • what did u render it with please? vray? studio light?

  • @tmrialv He rendered it with Vray :)!

  • would be kind enough to share your settings for the particles used in this project? thank you!

  • I love it- great looking milk!

  • @dOrthez Thank you very much ;)

  • @SmoothAngle when i saw this i thought this was a commercial for some strawberry flavored milk

  • @Dusty9261 Wow, thank you so much ! Actually, I made this animation with this kind of commercials in mind. Somehow, I'm happy I reached my goal xD

  • Caan you make a tutorial pls :D?

  • @Morrwell Give me some time and I'll see what I can do ;)

  • Strawberries were shot at milk going 100mph.. :D

  • @d3tach3d No, I think it was twice that (kidding) xD

  • Like the lighting and the speed of the shot, one of the best I've seen.

  • @strag1 I'm pleased you liked it. Thank you very much Sir XD

  • hey Smoothangle, I'm using it on 2012 and works great. If you're interested, contact the guy, he's very helpfull.

  • @bevisualart Hello bevisualart ;)

That's a great new. I think I'll contact the developper for more infos then. Thank you again ;)

  • you should try the repletum plugin for realflow from wetworks to get rid of those holes at the end of the simulation. (works far better then the included sheeter) Besides that, quite nice.

  • @bevisualart True that the Sheeter deamon could work a bit better. But the meshing process also is very important and I should have played more with mesh radius and blend factor.

I wasn't aware of this Repletum plugin but I'm gonna look into it and eventually recompute the animation.

Thank you very much for this constructive comment ;)

  • @SmoothAngle no problem, while we're being constructive, use frost to mesh instead of realflow, it has different meshing algorythms and is a lot faster. (previews as good as realtime)

  • @bevisualart I checked for Repletum at Wetworks and the plugin looks great. But I also discovered it was only available on RF 5. I simulated this video with RF 5 but uninstalled it for RF 2012 some months ago. I'm pretty sure they'll release a version for RF 2012. Just have to be patient ;)

I know Frost for having seen videos about it but never had the chance to test it though. I'll see what I can do ;)

    Thank you again !

  • very nice!

  • @mindcircuz Thanks a lot ;)

  • Fucking nice !

  • @Germain9585 Thanks a lot !! :P

  • nice rendering, but your mesh could do with some work

  • @Aneurin That's right, that has been discussed in previous comments with "onlyCreativity" who gave me some tips about mesh radius. Thanks for your comment anyway :D

  • they are using much of this in commercial and such :P

  • @candyman3 You're right. I wanted it to look somehow like a commercial ;)

    Thanks for your comment !

  • I AM POURING THE FUCK OUT OF THIS MILK.

  • Nice!!

Can you explain a little about the shader used or more info how do you get that realistic look?

    Tnx

  • @ivantutavac First, thank you for your comment.

The key for a realistic look is mostly a question of lighting and shaders. The lighting consists of a "3 points lighting" (google it for more info) using VRayLights.

The shaders are both VRayFastSSS2. I used the "milk" preset available on this shader type + some tweaks. For strawberries, it's hand made. Diffuse, specular, scatter and displacement textures made in Photoshop.

Then lots of testing until you get the right feeling about it.

    Thanks ;)

  • @ivantutavac Btw, FYI, the lighting you can see in Realflow (second part of the video) has nothing to do with the lighting used in 3dsMax. Realflow uses a default light there.

  • @SmoothAngle Thanks for your info, i'll try it. Cheers

  • @ivantutavac You're welcome ;)

  • those strawberries r looking very real and tasty <3

  • @galaxymariosuper Of course they are tasty ;)

Thank you very much for your comment :D

    Have a good day !

  • @SmoothAngle haha Thank You. by the way - You are the one who is entertaining Us, so we should thank You!

  • @galaxymariosuper I agree, but you are the one who is scoring it xD

Thank you very much for your sweet comment ;)

  • @SmoothAngle Roger that :D

  • the material for the milk and the lightning are amazing! very nice :)

  • @Daxster1995 Your comment is greatly appreciated. Thank you :)

  • @Daxster1995 Btw, I also had a good time making strawberries' textures in Photoshop an their SSS shader in 3dsMax.

    Have a good day :)

  • very nice simulation! particle count ?

  • @kautschukmedia Thank you very much :)

There are about 1.2 millions of visible particles. The rest is killed by k-volume. I adjusted the k-volume so that it fits the camera as best as possible. This avoids having too much particles that won't be seen in the end.

  • mesh radius was too small but I like it anyway. :)

  • @onlyCreativity You mean camera isn't close enough ? Btw, thank you for your comment :)

  • @SmoothAngle

no, the camera was fine. :)

If you meshed this in Realflow(looks like) then increase both "radius" and "blend factor". This will minimize/remove the mesh flicker.

  • @onlyCreativity You're right. I let these parameters with their default values while having meshes from 3dsMax scaled by 0.1. I wasn't really aware of that before today. So thank you very much for the tip :)

  • very cool man did you made this?

  • @Alusaint Thanks you ! Yes, I did everything with 3ds Max, Realflow, Photoshop and After Effect ;)

The rendering was a nightmare as I had to let the computer render for 4 days/nights. I had to render in draft/test mode with VRay because of that. There are also some little issues with the fluid mesh. But overall, I'm quite happy with the result. If only I had a better computer ;)

  • @SmoothAngle I know what you mean I want a better pc so bad but dont have the money if did have one my models would look so much better but overall great job i think it looks really good for a strawberries commercial or something lol

  • @Alusaint Haha ... so true. Thanks for the sweet comment, Alusaint xD

I wish I could sell this video and finally get the money to do better ;) That's the problem with CGs. If you want them somehow realistic, you depend so much on the hardware :/
