Excellent footage Matt. 5*. The coverage shown on Granada tv was miniscule and disappointing. This coverage more than makes up for it and not diesel in site. Well done! As well as 70013 moving out of the way for the train I like how both engines are side by side later on.
Thanks mate, this one came together really nicely. It was a good to see the 2 engines together, if a little unexpected, 48151 was turned really quickly and nearly caught me out! Gutted i couldnt get out for the black5's, had used all my passouts from the missis !!
My, 70013's whistle sounds gorgeous! Brilliant coverage of an area many others probably didn't think of going to. You can almost imagine yourself there 40 years ago.
BLOODY BRILLIANT coverage, we couldn't be there for this iconic moment so thanks for being our eyes and ears. The high res version is excellent quality too - what file format and resolution do you upload in? Youtube just turns all my hi res uploads into blurry mush.
Hi Ralph, i still cant believe my luck with that shot, perfect timing, it was actually quite moving, i was stood with my Dad, who was there 40 yrs ago and when the bells started peeling....Magic!
cheers mate, to be honest there was no planning involved, just climbed up a bridge support, prayed the cops wouldn't see me, and it all just came together !
A very good sequence with lots of little gems. The locos greeting whistles; the 8F trundling off (presumably to turn) without it's support coach having just come off the train; etc. Thanks for sharing. Chris

Fantastic memories. I was there in 1968. So pleased that steam did not die that day!!

Fantastic stuff; I wonder if the church bells ringing were in celebration of the special arriving... LOL!
